Ruka was one of the first people Kay met here, and Kay's first impression is someone who acts far older than she really is and who must have seen so much to the point that almost nothing surprises her anymore. Still, Kay doesn't let that get in the way of wanting to be friends with Ruka and actively tries to reach out to her constantly, because hey TEENAGE GIRL GOTTA DO TEENAGE GIRL THINGS let's do teenage girl things and be happy, I want you to be happy even though you look like you carry the entire world on your shoulders.
Still, Kay feels like she wishes she could do something more, more than be Ruka's friend and a reminder that you can still smile no matter what the circumstances. Kay hates that because she hasn't been here for as long as Ruka has and will most likely be reminded of that, she doesn't know what to do to brighten Ruka up that can help the latter look on the bright side of being stuck in this world for years on end, because really, Kay can't foresee the same thing happening to her and of course, she would want to return to her own world as well despite how fun it is to be a superhero. In short, Kay wants to further reach out beyond being the textbook good friend.
Needless to say, that doesn't stop her from trying. Kay will keep on trying and no one can stop her. She promised to always be kind and friendly to people no matter where in the timeline she has been pulled from, and she will keep her word.

ruka's such a sucker for hope types, too. but while she thinks she doesn't have the strength to hold onto that, she really really desperately wants to protect the people who do -- so further attempts from kay will likely just increase the pendulum swing between trying to push kay away to keep her from getting disappointed paired with really over-the-top (and frequently questionable) attempts to save her from danger.
i would be so thrilled for kay's further attempts to drag ruka out of the darkness of despair holds cheeks
ALSO I MEANT TO DO THIS ON THE OTHER MEME (and a thousand times prior, hah) BUT may i friend you on plurk

Marceline is a super interesting sort. A vampire queen and yet she looks like she's still a teenager. Yeah, Kay knows that Marceline is most likely much older than just mere teenage years but maybe by vampire years she's still a teenager? Anyway. From that info about Marceline being a vampire queen, Kay's impression is that Marcy really knows her stuff and is super tough, strong and resilient. And those are all admirable traits. Yet, Marceline seems really fun with how laid-back she is about this entire thing, and Kay can understand fun. No, Kay thrives on fun. It's always great to find someone who's probably achieved so much but who doesn't become jaded or lose sight of the finer, happier things in life.
She doesn't know Marceline too well yet but Kay looks forward to getting to know her more and eventually calling her a friend. Also, Marceline showing off the rest of her vampire powers is one thing to look forward to.

From the moment Kotetsu made a broadcast about his daughter and telling the world why she's amazing and adorable, Kay liked him right off the bat. Being a daddy's girl herself, she feels that this man is someone who not only treasures his kid, but who would also certainly treasure other people close to him. He's energetic, cheerful, but at the same time thinks of others. How can Kay not like him? He's exactly how she imagined a superhero to be (WELL SHE DOESN'T KNOW THAT HE'S ALSO WILD TIGER BUT ANYWAY) and how she would want to act if she were to take up superheroing while she's here.
Basically, he can be responsible and concerned for other people's welfare without the grumpiness or the stick-in-the-mud attitude that tends to accompany people who are adamant in their beliefs regarding what is best for people. Thank goodness Kotetsu isn't grumpy and is always there to talk to Kay with a smile on his face, or to smile as best he can despite the situation.
Kay is particularly grateful that he has chosen to help her out as well with Hero Club because LOOK YOU TEACH AT XAVIER AND YOU HAVE BIGGER FISH TO FRY MR. KOTETSU. But d'awwww you want to be our faculty advisor too? THAT'S GREAT OMG that's really great. She wants to pay him back big time because she feels that she owes him a lot and wants to do something for him especially since HIS BIRTHDAY IS COMING UP. This is the perfect chance but she has to pick a great birthday present.

Barnaby is another responsible adult Kay looks up to and respects. Where she respects Kotetsu for his cheerful attitude and his go-get-'em approach to most things, Kay's respect for Barnaby is rooted in how calm and collected and rational he is in any situation. And yet, he is no coldhearted robot and has a heart under his businesslike manner. Nowhere is this more apparent than during the time Kay was accused of robbing the courthouse and Barnaby stayed with Kay for a bit and kept her company, talked to her for a while and listened to her as she tried to keep herself sane and busy (busy talking, that is) behind bars.
And he even has his own little interests, like bunny things and scented candles and all that. Kay thinks they make Barnaby quirky and more interesting as a person, and if she could a.k.a. had the money to spare, she would always give him cute things just to always remind him of the finer things in life and that while she is glad that he extends a hand to help her and the general imPort community, she would be even gladder if he can take the time to enjoy life and be happy and just relax, even though again, Kay has no doubt that he isn't a stick-in-the-mud.
IDK, she thinks he might need the occasional reminder and appreciate it anyway. And she has to admit, he fights crime and looks good while doing it. Always a plus in her book.

And Kay is super glad that Hiccup is not only cool but also super nice. He's easy to talk to, understands fun and the need to learn to handle superpowers, and has a lot of friend potential. Plus, he gets along well with his dragon, which is always a plus. They seem like bros and it's always nice to see humans who are like that with other creatures/animals/etc. With Hiccup getting on board Hero Club, her respect for him grew even more because yay he's also willing to help out. She'll probably bug him to make her a flight suit of her own eventually AHAHAHA

Shinjiro...ah, yes, they first met when Kay first showed up on the network as a newbie and they talked about the whole truth-stealing thing and justice and evil. However, despite that initial impression, Kay has grown to like Shinji, thinking that under that hard candy exterior is a soft marshmallow center (HAHAHA). In a way, he piqued her interest. Okay, so their debate did help that along, and so did referring Kay to Akihiko when she was looking for someone to teach her self-defense. Then there was the crow his snake ate. Oops. It's a pretty strange chain of events leading up to her considering him a friend.
And why shouldn't she? Kay is the master of reaching out to people, making them happy the best way she can, and looking on the bright side and pulling people over to that bright side. Because of all these things happening to both of them and their common friends, they've been brought together and Kay doesn't mind sharing a wild ride through this world with Shinji. Along the way, she wants to just make him smile. Since he was dead previously, that makes her want to try her hardest to make his life here better and brighter than his last. Still, that doesn't mean she's never uncomfortable about that; she just doesn't let it show.
He seems to have fun teaching her how to make bento box lunches as much as she has fun learning and showing off what she picked up, so she thinks that's a good thing. Kay doesn't think she'll ever be good as he is but she tries! And at least he acknowledges her efforts.

To Kay, Hime is like this super amazing lowerclassman in high school who is definitely cool enough to hang out with the senpais, not that anyone has to be "cool" to hang out with Kay (let's be real, Kay hangs out with a wide range of people). In that case, Hime is more like a little sister that Kay doesn't need to protect (not that she wouldn't, OF COURSE SHE WOULD) and is super cool in her own way.

Despite that, Kay believes he's still the same old Mr. Edgeworth. Even though he might be grumpier and more wound up than the Edgeworth of her time or the last version of him, she believes in him and will continue to tag along with him on cases whether he likes it or not, and will extend her help again whether he likes it or not. He works hard, keeps a cool head (most of the time) and still has his super logic powers. She respects him despite needling him sometimes and making fun of him, and wants to be his assistant again. Plus, really, she thinks his powers are amazing, even if they come with a side effect that makes her tease him all the more.
It's just so much fun to watch him squirm and to tease and troll him. He needs to loosen up. That's a bigger problem with this Edgeworth than an Edgeworth later on down the timeline. Kay is going to take it upon herself to make sure he has fun and takes some time out of his busy schedule to smile and actually enjoy life.
