She respects the Major-General. She sees a little bit of both herself and the Chief in her: she's highly competent, adept at political maneuvering, and more than a little intimidating to most. She seems like someone the Major could work under without feeling constantly irritated or miserable.

She also imagines that with Olivier's constant vying for position with the government that she's playing some kind of long con to get more information about their situation. And the Major's perfectly okay with that.
