OMG you are way too good to me, writing all this out! <3

I definitely agree with all of this, though. Minato doesn't really have much experience befriending someone that can equal his level of selflessness and protectiveness (he should probably meet more comic heroes hahaha) and Jaime does, so they intuitively 'get' each other in that way that happens when priorities sync up. It's pretty novel for Minato. Just as important, though, is that he can use Jaime as a willing, unbiased barometer for whether he's adjusting to being a normal, healthy adult (as much as he can be). He'll never make up completely for his childhood but he's definitely come a long way and talking to Jaime helps a lot.

Jaime is VERY no pressure for him. He's not responsible for him, as far as he's aware he isn't involved in anything dangerous, he doesn't have any huge tragedies to contend with (again, as far as he's aware), though if he did Minato wouldn't feel pressured by that. It's just very easy and uncomplicated and Minato has never experienced that kind of friendship before, where he doesn't have to do anything to maintain it. They just rely on each other.

The two of them and Shinji should do something as a trio sometime, though. That would be funny, haha.

On a more generic level, I always really enjoy getting to thread Minato with more emotive, reactive characters-- it always makes for a good foil.
