THE MISTLETOE MEME

It was a quiet moment in the imPort cities, when the next devious plot of an unknown organization was realized. With the holiday season upon all the town, bundles of mistletoe with interference technology hidden in the festive bows and pins holding them together was distributed throughout the town and into all the residences of the imPorts.

The interference technology creates a stasis field keeping imPorts trapped underneath it, protecting the mistletoe itself with a small barrier. However, it only seems able to hold two people at a time, and and the reaction of the nanites to sudden changes in chemistry brought on by embracing or kissing brings the stasis field crashing down, leaving the mistletoe vulnerable to destruction at that time.

It's up to you, imPorts, to break free of these mistletoe traps and destroy all the mistletoe in the cities!

Comment to the meme with your character(s). Specify if your character is open to kisses, hugs, or both!

Comment around to other characters, getting trapped in the mistletoe's radius! Or hunting the mistletoe down. Either way, bring on the hugs and/or kisses!

[Nah, sullen's pretty accurate. This is happened more than once for her, too. It's not that she's offended by the idea of kissing someone, it's more that she can't science her way out to begin with. Damn you technology!]

[Riku nods, folding his arms and leaning his head against the invisible wall.]

Yup.

[He knows how to get out at least, now. But how forward can you get?]

[This'd be a lot easier if they knew each other better, to be honest. Then she could just kiss him, get it over with, and then laugh about it later.

She doesn't know how he'd react or anything.]

I've only found one way out of this.

[He considers this. She's right, though there has to be some other option. What that other option is he doesn't know. After a moment he huffs a sigh, stands up straight again.]

Well, then.

[Her power doesn't touch anything outside of this barrier, including the plant itself, but that doesn't stop her from raising a hand to the 'wall' and trying to manipulate it into letting them out.

All science points to there being no reason she couldn't, and yet...

She sighs as well, glancing at him up and down. He's no different from their spar when they met, and certainly not unattractive. Kissing him to break their prison isn't the worst plan.]

I don't suppose you've had any luck opening this with your key. [Gogo, that's probably not how his sword works.]

[He shakes his head, looking a little sour about it.]

No, actually, I haven't. Never met a lock it couldn't open, so I guess technically this isn't a lock.

[Good for you, Gogo, because it actually does do that.]

I think whoever set these up is a genius. I can't figure out the technology and this ought to fall right into my wheelhouse. Unless it's a nanite thing in which case- [She shrugs.]

I've never met a plant so fond of pda before.

Maybe it is a nanite thing. That would make more sense, I think. Making the affected unable to move past a certain point.

[Honestly, he has no idea. He has no real frame of reference for much in the way of science past the things he saw DiZ do.]

... really, though. How is this related to Christmas, again?

It's tradition that when two people are standing under mistletoe they have to kiss. And for some reason mistletoe is only brought out during Christmas. Maybe that's when it's in season.

[A pause.]

I think mistletoe is poisonous though. God know how it became a holiday thing.

I mean, I know that. The first part. But I don't understand how it became a Christmas thing in the first place...?

I never looked it up. [She's pretty sure she knows someone who could answer that, too. She'll have to see when they get out and destroy it.]

Mm.

[He shrugs. He's slouching even more than usual -- he doesn't really know what to do with himself.]

... Sorry.

[She steps forward to punch him lightly in the arm.]

Hey, it's not your fault. I'd rather you than probably ninety percent of imports, too.

[Hey, there.]

Ninety is a big number, Gogo.

And there's a lot of people I don't want to kiss, even politely.

[He lets out a huff of laughter, despite himself.]

Oh? So you want to kiss the other ten percent, then? Because depending on the community size, that might be a big number too...

There are a few people I wouldn't mind at all. [It's not like she's made a list, but if she had to choose, you know?] If the topic came up.

Mm, I guess so.

[Riku knows he's overly cautious with these things -- he's usually the biggest out of whatever group he's with, and he's aware that he can come off as intimidating. Not to mention he's kind of garbage to begin with. The idea of someone coming into contact like that with him -- almost anyone, honestly -- he'd think they'd gone nuts.]

I've never really thought about it, to be honest.

[He's probably lucky she doesn't know him that well, then. But when compared to people like Crane, or Lucifer, or hell, a number of the trashy asshole imports they'd seen? Riku's likable on the surface. She's good.]

You didn't strike me as the type to.

[Well, yeah, at least he can say he's better than those guys and actually be confident in the idea. Because while Crane did things just out of.. scientific curiosity, whatever he was calling it -- Riku had reasons, ones that didn't involve his own well-being at all. The fact that he had to compromise his morals to do those things is what bothers him, in the end.

But that's neither here nor there -- he just feels like everyone can see it, like he's got some kind of sign on his back.]

Hah. I might have been at one time. I'm -- I forgot those things, though, I think.

[Nope, the only sign is what he's written himself so far while here, in her eyes. He's soft spoken and good to fight against when you want to spar. All he needs is to have a motorcycle and he'd hit several tics on her 'signs of an awesome person' list.]

That's okay. It's not the most important thing to pay attention to. I mean, how often are you going to be trapped somewhere that would rely on that sort of thing? [Ironic smile.]

[He shrugs, back leaned against the edge of the barrier.]

That's true. If I'd realized this was going to happen, though, maybe I should have thought about it.
