Of everyone who's been in and out of the City over the years, it's her and this child who arrived on the very same day who still remain, assigned to work in the same stupid establishment, and that fact hasn't escaped her. It's not precisely sentiment, because HA HA HA HA HA... LUST...., but Lust nevertheless ascribes some kind of significance to it! And to Ruka by extension! So basically what I'm saying is that the shared experience of longevity and arrival twinsies deal is half of what cements Ruka as worthy of note at all in her mind, BUT that attachment isn't entirely uninfluenced by Ruka herself as a person. If she weren't such a well-behaved child, there's no way Lust would treat her with the politeness she does, let alone the occasional vaguely fond nostalgia. Her presence by itself is a point of stability for her on a level she doesn't consciously realize; Ruka is a constant, basically. If she were to disappear for good, she wouldn't miss her, and she certainly wouldn't be upset, but it would give her pause.
She also recognizes that the years have changed her attitude in a pretty obvious direction, but doesn't fully comprehend just how depressed she is because a.) she has never been in Ruka's shoes and those emotions are way too complex for her to parse on a meaningful level b.) she doesn't care.
