[To be honest, his head was still reeling from everything. All that new information, being told that he couldn't just go home and at the same time being treated like a hero. Well, he's kind of used to that last part, but being star player of a basketball team doesn't quite compare to being a superhero. He'd never been that, not outside of games him and Troy had played as kids.
The skateboards have caught his attention most of all, even more than the admittedly wicked cool cars, because they look like so much fun. Also damn dangerous, but that thought doesn't enter his mind just yet. At least not until he hears that car engine and then, seconds later, sees it come around the corner.
Chad has been told what his powers are, but he hasn't really tried them out yet, because his brain just refused to accept that any of this could actually be real. He doesn't think of his powers now, either. It's pure instinct that has him start running and it's only three steps in that he notices that the world has slowed down. Or perhaps it's that he is that fast? He isn't actually sure, all he knows is that the seconds stretch out and he has time to calculate just when to jump in order to grab the kids and push them out of the way as the car speeds past them, followed by the police.
Pretty cool stunt, although it loses some of that when he ends up in a crumpled heap on the ground several feet away from where he safely dropped off the kids, looking more dazed than heroic.]
