[A hero. Jean tenses momentarily as he looks in the direction of his commander. He sets his malt down on the table in front of him and tries to process the way he's feeling. This meeting is suddenly far more intimate than most of his interactions with his superiors. Although Jean had been caught up in a great number of strange circumstances since his choice not too long ago, being here, in this world with all these strange things, definitely tops all of it.

The fact that the others were here too makes him uncertain. He knows what he's been told. He knows what words rest on his wrist, but he doesn't fully understand. What he does know is that this world is at war, and it's a very different war from the one he knows. To some degree, everything here makes his own experiences feel immensely dwarfed.

Having to adapt to that is something that will take time. He hasn't gotten there yet, nor has he really looked at his new found role as a hero with all the scrutiny it requires.

Though "all" doesn't mean he hasn't looked at it with some.]

A hero should do something to prove himself first. Truthfully. [Even despite his previous smile, he has settled back into a more typically serious expression.] If heroes even exist in the first place.

[There's a beat as he observes his commander. His feelings toward this man aren't the most positive. He thinks little of his tactics, as well as his willingness to see people as necessary sacrifices to save humanity as a whole. But he bites back those words now. This isn't the right company for him to express those sentiments. He knows that much.]

Sir.
