HONESTLY, ANDY IS THE ONLY PERSON THAT HAS SEEMED NORMAL TO ANDERSON HERE AT ALL, WHICH SHOULD SAY A LOT ABOUT ANDERSON'S LIFE.

Someone who's been really worn down by how godawful shitty life is but hasn't let go of their morals despite how much smarter that would be is a concept Anderson can identify with strongly. Anderson is an idealist, so she holds onto a lot of things more strongly than Andy does, but she's savvy and personable enough to recognize that Andy hasn't let go of them as much as she thinks she has. She sees and judges total scum all the time and it's impossible to convince her you're scum if you aren't. She doesn't buy into Andy's self-image as this terrible person at all, haha.

That being said, she definitely empathizes with her, and understands the allure of withdrawing completely. It's just never been a luxury Anderson could delude herself into thinking was possible for her. Spending so much time in peoples' heads means she always feels connected, and she wouldn't want to give that up and become a soulless enforcer of the law like the DoJ wants her to be. She's sure with enough time Andy will probably get that, too.

On a basic level, she just LIKES her, because she's familiar and understandable and she doesn't make Anderson feel like a freak for being from such a hard environment. It's nice not to feel like the odd one out for once. And of course, she needs social connections of her own, and she needs to make friends, and it's going to sort of blindside her to do that at all.
