I doubt any amount of training could make her more powerful than the Phoenix.

She went through some training with Emma Frost and Emma was not nice about it. Not to mention she had training with Psylocke so she has psionic weapons. As a result, this version of Jean is significantly more powerful than pre-Phoenix (older) Jean. She'll find his magic interesting in its similarities.
