gigue: (Borenstein - Quasi una Cadenza)

Vanya sits still for a long moment, staring somewhere in the vicinity of Diego's shoulder. She doesn't see the look Allison gives him, and her eyes focus and unfocus on the text that appears in the corner of her vision. She doesn't say anything while she reads, trying to force the words to make sense. It's English. She knows what each word means individually. How does she piece them together?

Icarus. That's the part that sticks, and V rises abruptly to pace in front of the sofa, short, tight circuits where she almost trips herself with how quickly she turns. The Icarus. All of them, they were all there, and now they're here, and she doesn't want to go back there.

Panic makes her hot, so she shrugs the jacket off, dropping it half on the sofa, half on the floor.

"I don't--" She hears herself talking, but it feels like listening to a voice message you've left: strained and distorted in her own ears. "How can I not - remember?" This, or - no, she doesn't want to ask about all the things she's trying not to remember.
