TEST DRIVE MEME

01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

I understand. Shepard is a man who endears himself to everyone on his crew in some way. Losing him could not have been easy.

[His expression is sympathetic.]

[He may give her a very slight smile here.] You would make a beautiful Drell.

[He motions toward the other side of the street.] After you.

[... Awkward pause. Then she remembers she had a malt, and picks it up to take another sip. Yum~ :9

I don't even know what the NPC malt sippers are up to right now. Maybe they've lost interest???]

Well, I haven't seen her... [She gestures at a height about four and a half feet off the ground.] She's really small, though, so with all these tall people around it's no wonder. Just look for pigtails!

Ohh. Well, then you're prob'ly not one.

[He nodded, shrugging.]

In their words, they were trying to fulfil the word of God. He said it would happen and they were determined to make it happen. Never mind how many lives they would take in the process.

[Balthazar stops, the disgust in the other's voice peaking at his interests, the anger putting him on edge. His hands rise, palms outward and Balthazar steps back. Stranger or no, this was still an Archangel.]

Just asking. Still, good to know you feel so passionately. If Lucy ever gets out of jail it'd be nice to have another... Helping.

[He jerks his jacket shut and crosses his arms, the body language unconscious on his behalf.]

Gabriel? His name is Gabriel?

[There's a dark laugh and Balthazar shakes his head. He was going to need a drink after this. Probably several.]

Well that's going to make things confusing. The only Archangel we had to stand for man was... Our Gabriel. Against Lucifer.

[He's not going to mention the outcome, opting instead to give Michael a sly smile.]

I hope that you come to enjoy it here as well.

[ Honestly, she's not quite sure how Margaery will feel about the entire situation once she has had time to let it all sink in. She has no doubt that there are many people here who will adore her, but it is not the same as being queen. Sansa was surprisingly relieved to learn that there is no such thing as royalty and nobility in this country, but she is unsure if Margaery will see it the same way. ]

I have not gotten around to trying all of them yet, but the raspberry one was quite good. There is another shop nearby that sells frozen lemon drinks that are wonderful.

[ totally nodding like she gets it. (she only kind of gets it.) she can, however, catch a few details that Kamala doesn't exactly want to make apparent. it's sort of the thing about her, Aracely seemed to have the uncanny ability to catch whatever emotions and thoughts were in the basic vicinity. ]

Oh, well. Maybe the boss fight was the car.

But now the kids are saved? So, super yay!

[Of course she does. It's Yang.

At least she puts Weiss down pretty quickly once they're someplace high, sighing and setting her hands on her hips.]

Nah. Me and Blake've been here a few weeks actually.

[She grins, leaning toward the white-haired girl and raising her eyebrows.]

We've been through some stuff man.

[Oh, a sword in her face. Like she hasn't been there before.

Diane frowns then her expression shifts so that she appears as if she's pouting but that only lasts a moment. It's anger that she expresses next. Not out directly at her but more so at the stories that humans tell about her kind that causes these kinds of reactions.]

I'm not a creature! [She draws back, arms folded.] I am very much a woman of the Giant's Clan and I only wanted to know if you were okay.

[ "Giant" is apt enough. She keeps her weapon pointed, unwilling to put it down even if what Diane claims is true. For all she knows she could be luring her to lay down her weapon and strike her unguarded.

Though the scenery a minute ago throws her off. She was playing with kids and gently, too. She's only seen caretakers or mothers do that. ]

What... What are you?

[Diane loves kids, then again it might be in part due to the fact she's still a big kid herself. Over seven hundred years old and she's still quite childish. A fact displayed by her huffing.]

I just told you! And stop pointing that toothpick at me! [She'd take it away but what good would that do?] I don't even eat people if that's what you're worried about.

[ She does match the height descriptor, but aren't they supposed to be ugly? She steadily gets to her feet, her blade unyielding. ]

Not that old. [She knows people tell tales about her people, they aren't as common as they once were.]

If I wanted to eat anyone I would have already chowed down. [One roasted pig and some veggies is all she needs to fill herself. She doesn't quite have an appetite that matches her size, a fact many find surprising.]

[ Her gaze flickers from Diane's stature to the sword, incredibly uncertain about what she's deliberates over. ]

You don't have to eat me if you want to harm me. You could likely step on me.

And I could have done the same with anyone else. Have you heard of anyone getting squished?

[The fact that she can make herself smaller here hasn't even crossed her mind as a way to make the girl feel more at ease.]

[ she's the daughter of the minnesota shrike, not the baltimore... what are they called? orioles. not really a bird of prey unless stealing nectar from hummingbird feeders counts as impaling their prey on sticks or antlers. not exactly the same m.o. her shoulders slump slightly, lifting her hand to prop her chin against it, the picture of defeated. ] So at least four people think I'm a murderer. I don't get what's going on either. I mean here I was waking up in this weird place looking for Yang and everyone then suddenly they start pulling at my cloak and I mean I guess I don't mind that but why are they taking pictures? [Sorry Weiss, she's going into a bit of a mumble now.] I just wanted to make sure everyone was okay but they wouldn't let me go...

Do you wanna grab on? I can probably run out of the way right? They'll never be able to catch up-----what if they try to catch up?

[Okay sure waking up in a weird place was not on her list of Things to Do today but by now she's realising she may have no choice in it. Clearly, that means, her next priority is trying to find everyone else. Yang is the first to come to mind which is why she's frantically ran from the car as soon as debriefing has ended (that poor agent, to be honest...) and starts yelling Yang's name over and over. Weiss and Blake's names are in there too, of course, along with Jaune, Pyrrha, Nora and Ren's names but it's Yang she needs to know is okay first.

Sadly, her attention is broken when she sees a car zoom past. It's not a plane, that's easy enough to see, but the technology is certainly... out there.]

Hey!! Hey-- [Ah, there they go. Too late. She frowns as she glances around, her own hand hovering towards her back just in case and that's when she sees the flying skateboards. All hope is lost, really.]

Oh gosh they look so cool! Did you make them? Do they have other functions? Can I try it?

[No one let her try it...]

[It's taken a few days but she's slowly gotten used to what this place can be like. She's half accepted what's going on, and while she's really happy to be considered a hero, the attention is more than she'd ever wanted. Saving and protecting people was one thing, becoming a celebrity was another entirely.

Thankfully, it's that frame of mind that helps her act quickly when that hovercar comes zooming forward. Her semblance is speed, so it doesn't take her any time at all to unhook cresent rose and let it click out into the scythe. In what seems like a flash it's dug into the ground and Ruby uses it to spin around, putting her weight into slamming her feet into the car.

Sadly, she only considers the kids on the skateboards and not anyone else strolling around the area too. As the car flies back she looks on in horror as she realises the damage she's caused. Oops.]

Are you okay?!

[At least she looks guilty...]

[ She wonders if she should be putting these ideas into the giant's head. She must be angering her, but Aureole isn't ready to back down so easily.

She continues to put some distance between the two, straightening her posture and sword still leveled at... whatever part of Diana it levels at. ]

What are you doing then with these children?

[ She asks as if she isn't a fifteen year old child herself. She's beginning to notice the adults sitting on the benches aren't particularly concerned the children are lingering around a thirty-foot tall giant. In fact, they look more pleased than anything else. ]

Not very well, I'm afraid. I can't say I'm a fan of violence.

[She's taken a few self defense classes, and she is a little stronger than a human, thanks to how she's been made, but she doesn't like hurting people.]

[She says it easily, because it isn't a big deal. While some androids do have an almost parent-child relationship with their creators, Lila isn't one of those, and it's never bothered her.]

I dislike being dishonest, but my explanation might be a little startling to you.

[But at least he's a little further ahead than where they are now. She's been a little worried about how people will react to her.]

One coffee coming up, find a seat and I'll join you once I've ordered.

[With a little nod, she goes to the counter, giving the barista a slightly firm look to indicate there shouldn't be any comments about Thane's appearance, before she orders to coffees and moves to rejoin Thane.]

[Whatever Jacob's Cerberus-based differences with Kaidan, he respected the guy as a soldier, and as one of the people who helped Shepard save the entire Galaxy.]

You've got it. That's why I asked if you knew who I was. For all I knew, you could be from a Galaxy where I'm dead, or Shepard never recruited you, or something. Bizarre, right?

[Three months into his little 'vacation' in another dimension, and Jacob still finds it smarter to just not think about the metaphysics of things like that. It's easier to adapt that way, and this situation calls for a lot of adapting.]

[If all vampires were like her, then why would it be better that there weren't vampires in his world? Michael turned to look at her, wondering if the sun bothered her by the way she hunkered down under the shade from the tree.]

No. It isn't familiar. [His brows furrowed a bit.] I guess that means we're from different places.

Not that I necessarily mind. Considering that what you describe sounds rather unpleasant.

[The archangel'd had enough to deal with, and was glad that he hadn't had to manage in a world like the one she described. The humans would have perished all the quicker if adding in explosions and dangerous creatures.]
