Character's powers: A bunch of space elf alien stuff (speed, strength, telepathy, channeling life energy for fun and profit and healing, paladin equipment including robo-lion)

What is your character's job?: Conflict Mediator, member of Aegis Force

RUNDOWN -- what are your character's skills, likes/dislikes, urgent needs?: She was a war commander, and she enjoys strategy, science, history, and sparkly things. She always wants to help people, and be what they need her to be -- a leader, a diplomat, a friend, a hero.
What are your character's plans?: Her big not-so-secret plan is to research wormhole technology and open the doors to people's home dimensions. This won't be going very far, or at least not very soon. Please feel free to impose some smaller missions in the meantime.
Does your character have a secret identity?: no but she could, she can change her skin color at will
Where can your character commonly be found? Work, home, Darin's forge, Helix base, shopping — anywhere the plot demands
Is your character open for pairings?: She is happy with Darin, but thanks for the interest!
Are you open to having your character get hurt? Or, for villains, hurt others?: Completely open. She can also faint like a goat when the plot demands, okay
Is your character interested in teams?: She's already with Aegis and the other Voltron paladins, but there's always room for more... like... a council or something idk
What kind of plots are you after?: Anything goes, but I'd particularly like some meatier, dramatic plots to get involved with. I love me some plot, but I sometimes get left behind by the big game-wide plots. My work is rough and my brain is occasionally bad!
Anything else?: There's a Voltron-related plot going on in the mishmash this month! Here's the only gif I could find related to that.

We never did a proper thread with them talking about energon and quintessence, but I'm still up for something along those lines if you're game?

Hell yes I am. I've been looking forward to this, since looking for cross-canon connections and making them into a big thing is my jam. Like the sweet, delicious honey in my RP cup of tea.

The only thing that's held me back is trying to find the hook — something to move this into real plot and not just a second round of musing over the similarities.

So, in interest of getting this moving, maybe we should hammer down the details OOCly first? Of just how deep the similarities go, what one could do in place of the other vs. what's unique to each one, and what the implications of it all would be?

From there, it should be easy to decide what she's discovered through research, and what kind of (probably dangerous) ideas can brew of that.

HMMM that's a very good point, time to wrack my brains for a plotty avenue to pursue with it...

As you might have noticed, things have been super busy for me lately so not a lot of rush I guess

I should also note, the details of Quintessence are easy to fudge in a pinch, much like a lot of things in Voltron. I can break down the rules as I understand them, but there's plenty of ??? parts like how someone got an addiction to it and then overdosed and became a zombie. Kinda.

KO might actually inquire if there's anything that could corrupt quintessence, similar to how there's dark energon.

Not exactly, no. It is, however, something that can be a corruptive force itself, and the way it's refined seems to have an impact on that. (Or simply the volume -- the addict-zombies I mentioned basically stepped directly into a pocket dimension where all space is a pure quintessence field.)

The creators put it this way -- quintessence isn't something you can call good or evil. It's more comparable to medicine, where it can be useful and even vital, but in high quantities grows toxic. A large part of that being that quintessence is very responsive to personality and will, and can easily "grab on" to someone's negative traits and magnify them.

Oooh the concept of its properties changing based on who it's reacting with is something he'd never considered. That plus your explanation done ICly could kick something off.

Harry and she should talk about dimensional travel. He has some experience with that!

She would love to compare notes. Does his also involve wormholes?

Sort of, in a magical way. His world has a realm called the Nevernever which is kind of a quantum subrealm, and there are wormhole like passages through it called the Ways, some of which are safe and some of which are not.
