Rikki made a show of rolling her eyes, but she was grinning even then. "Me too, because I reckon I'd have to break somebody's arm if someone beat me to the punch," she said. That was only kind of a joke and she didn't mean Ben.
She tilted her head back a little to look up at him. It was so weird, in the best possible way, that she didn't have to feel nervous or worried about how he would react if she did to exactly what she'd just done. They'd finally made it past the awkward tap dance they'd both been doing around their feelings and it felt so nice to just be able to go ahead and kiss him when she felt like she wanted to.
"Well," she said, her eyes shifting upward toward the mistletoe, "now I'm standing under it..." she pointed out with a smirk before looking back at him, her arms still circled around his neck loosely.
