Yesterday.

Lan Zhan's face was usually a study in impassion, calm, poise. Elegance. It rarely slipped more than the most minute fraction, emotion never quite making it to his face despite his heart.

Thus it meant far more than it might for most, when his expression faltered - when the briefest flash of pain crossed his features before it could be helped.

Yesterday. Yesterday, and then here. Sixteen years gone in an instant.

He wished, more than ever, that he'd had a chance to speak to Wei Ying after Dafan Mountain. That he hadn't been brought here, instead.

His eyes flickered, fell, found the floor. What was there to say? What could he possibly say?

Wasn't this a strange impossible answer to the thing he'd always wanted most? To find Wei Ying after the battle, alive, in the Burial Mounds?

It took an impossibly long time for him to reply, or at least it felt like that.

"... I also woke here this morning."
