Wangji shifted very slightly, his discomfort with the situation read mostly in a fresh tension in his shoulders, a slight tightness in his brow. He didn't say anything. What could he say? He'd never managed to voice to Wei Ying how he felt about any of it - happy to let the other man fill his silence instead.

But of everyone he'd ever met, everyone he's ever known, Wei Wuxian was the most noble and honourable and heroic of them all. There wasn't even a comparison. Wei Ying had destroyed himself to save others, those that no one else would protect.

Before, he simply wouldn't have said anything. Before, he only voiced his concern, rather than his appreciation. And he regretted it more than anything. If he'd only been more supportive, if he hadn't pushed Wei Ying and tried to fix him rather than be with him--

"No." A firm word, to the second statement rather than the first. He picked the paper back up, and put it away. "They must have known."

They must have known how much Wei Wuxian cared, how hard he fought. How valiant. They knew, and they brought him back. It was the only thing he could accept.
