RUNDOWN -- what are your character's skills, likes/dislikes, urgent needs?: What are they good at, what do they hate, what do they need (and so on) so that others know what they can offer you.

And Joel going to John for medical reasons like. I don't know. Joel has pretty horrendously bad feet from years of poor hygiene and ill-fitting shoes and socks he couldn't really wash properly, thanks to living in post-apocalyptic America. Plus, his year from hell of getting Ellie to the Fireflies, swimming in all kinds of fetid water, wearing boots, never taking his boots off, always sleeping in his boots in case he had to suddenly jump up and run for his life. Annie can appreciate people actually owning what they don't know or understand, particularly when she knows it's constantly frustrating and antagonizes her, too, though she's compartmentalized that and accepted that she largely sounds like an idiot to anyone from the modern era. She can be sly about it if she needs to, but learning is more important, so SUCKS IT ALL UP.

Annie is better at sucking it up, I suppose. Mandrake used to be good at it once upon a time in his youth, when he had no power and was a dependent. But he's rEALLY BAD AT IT NOW that he's older and used to being in a position of power himself.

Hah, probably mostly because of circumstance - the position of power she was ever in was at the lowest rankings, and as someone who had to survive on stealth and not being picked out for what she was, sucking up what she doesn't know is par for the course. Listen, learn, and in a place where questions won't get you executed, ask questions. Lots of questions.
