Simple and easy! Here's how it goes:

We go back and forth like this asking questions in a thread until one or both of us runs out of questions!

How would Barnaby react if his parents came to Heropa? What if his parents AND Maverick showed up? Bonus: what if his parents and Maverick showed up, and his parents were from a time where they still considered Maverick their friend and weren't aware of his shady dealings/hadn't confronted him about them and died?

His parents appearing would be like a giant punch in the feels. :( Most likely a confusing mixture of shock, joy, denial, and gross sobbing. He would probably be torn between grabbing them both in a giant bear hug and watching them from a distance. On one hand, MOM AND DAD ;A;...on the other, there's no telling whether they'd actually believe he's their son, which I think would be a really heartbreaking prospect for him.

If his parents AND Maverick showed up, he'd definitely get some serious tunnel-vision in regards to keeping them safe. Talking to them in private and getting them to at least agree to watch out would be the best he'd hope for, along with making sure they're never left alone with him.

How I wish there was a side-story featuring Emily and Barnaby Sr., if only so I could have the chance to play out a family reunion. /)_(\ I would read/watch a spin-off about them, ngl.

If Kaede were to come to Heropa, how would Kotetsu feel about her becoming registered?

AS FOR KAEDE, presuming things have not gone south far enough for Kotetsu to revoke his own registration, he'd try to get the government to extend his registration benefits to her because she's his daughter, and if that failed, he'd probably tell her to go unsettled and move out of government housing himself to find a place for them both. ...Also presuming he had any actual adult friends aside from Barnaby by then, he'd probably also ask them if they'd be willing to take her in if he disappeared. (And he'd ask Barnaby too but that sort of goes without saying LOL) Basically he would really really really hate the idea of her having to register, especially without him there. It makes him wildly uncomfortable to even think about.

Do you think there are any circumstances under which he'd tell Kotetsu about his feelings for him >_> Hardmode: sober circumstances?

Can't let the government exploit his baby girl. >:( And aww, Barnaby taking her in if Kotetsu disappeared would be so sad. ;A;

Oh gosh, though, ~FEELINGS~. Honestly, Barnaby would have likely confessed by now if he felt like Kotetsu reciprocated. As things stand now, though, he can think of several reasons why Kotetsu wouldn't want to get with him (he probably identifies as straight! he'll probably be worried about what his family will think! the age difference might bother him!)

And so, with little reason to believe Kotetsu would openly return his feelings, Barnaby doesn't see the point in making him uncomfortable with an unwanted confession. If he's going to tell Kotetsu without the influence of alcohol, then he'll probably need to have some reason to think he might actually succeed.

The closest I got in another game was a situation where Kotetsu was going to believe Barnaby had found a boyfriend (due to an epic misunderstanding, obviously). He was apparently going to get kind of jealous without meaning to, and then Barnaby was going to be like, "No. Dude. Dude." Buuut then we dropped without getting to play any of that out, LOL.

Aside from that scenario, I've been wracking my brain for yeeears and haven't really gotten anywhere with it. It generally hinges on Kotetsu revealing the possibility that he's in love with Barnaby, whether intentionally or not, but yeahh...

Are there any circumstances where Kotetsu would realize he has feelings for Barnaby?

But yeah it's difficult to say, since Kotetsu is so terrible at recognizing and understanding his own feelings. I think there's probably two main routes by which Kotetsu could realize he had feelings for Barnaby. The first would be along the lines of someone spilling the beans about Barnaby's feelings to him, or alternatively Barnaby accidentally letting it slip in the course of conversation with someone else and Kotetsu happening to overhear. Something like that happened in Scorched, where one of their mutual friends was ribbing them about their relationship and Barnaby admitted nothing directly, but he was sort of flustered and plain enough in his wording that Kotetsu actually cottoned on. Gold star 4 u, Kotetsan.

The second route is basically the traumatic one, lmfao. It would p. much need to be like, a redux of episode 24 + some element of fear of actually losing Barnaby--or in fact, losing him for some period of time and being a mess without him. The near-death situation is the more likely one tho, since he...never actually got around to telling Bunnaby how much he missed him the first three months they spent apart. But I think if some sort of like...dangerous event happened and then Barnaby ported out for like...a couple weeks and Kotetsu had to confront the possibility of his never coming back, he might start to get an idea of it when Barnaby did.

......Whether or not he would say anything is questionable tho bc yeah, he'd have a laundry list of reasons why Barnaby wouldn't be interested himself, like, god I'm eleven years older why would he even, I was married, I have a kid, I still love Tomoe, etc etc etc.

If there was a 24-esque redux with Kotetsu's life in danger, how would Barnaby react?

Yeah, currently there isn't really a situation where Barnaby would share that info with someone in MoM. Guess we have no choice except to emotionally break them, LMAO.

SPEAKING OF, 24-esque redux would have Barnaby noping right out of nope town. And by that, I mean probably get really depressed, particularly if he felt like he could have prevented it somehow. Gross sobbing would likely happen. Honestly, I think it would be pretty similar to how he reacted the first time around, except possibly worse because it would be like making him relive that horrible Maverick/H-01 experience all over again. I can also imagine situations where Kotetsu getting really hurt could trigger a bad anxiety attack, for obvious reasons.

If Kotetsu and Barnaby ever officially entered a relationship, how would he feel about telling his friends and family about it?
