Time to bring back one of my old faves...

the QUESTION meme

Simple and easy! Here's how it goes:

1. POST a top-level with your character name

2. REPLY to other people's top-level with a question for that character

3. ANSWER the question you were asked

4. ASK a question of that person's characters in return!

We go back and forth like this asking questions in a thread until one or both of us runs out of questions!

QUESTIONS CAN BE ANYTHING. Serious or silly as you want! What does Jane think of (x)? What does Sarah have for breakfast? How many times a day does Alex masturbate? What's Tom's dream job? The only limit for questions is your imagination.

Replies can be as monosyllabic or as tl;dr are you want; it's up to you. Go wild kids!

WELL. if we were to get all deep and psychological here, it could probably be traced back to the fact that he is an incredibly insecure person due to his NEXT powers and the childhood bullying he had to deal with because of them. He doesn't get a whole lot of external validation and honestly can't even admit to himself that he wants any ever, because that's Not What A Hero Does, so I think he kind of subconsciously tries to validate himself with small stupid things all HEY THAT WAS COOL WASN'T IT. At the same time he also actively self-sabotages (like there's a canon manga one-shot where he comes to work late and says he was hungover but he was actually rushing a pregnant woman to the hospital), because he presents himself as some dumbass loser you wouldn't even think about twice because he doesn't want anyone to worry about him sooooooo yeah it's kind of a vicious cycle that way. He does the whole 'hey i was pretty cool there' thing a lot less after the second half when he's finally starting to get some more respect as a Hero again after the Jake incident.

THIS IS ALL REALLY WAYYYY BELOW HIS LEVEL OF AWARENESS THO. Kotetsu doesn't realize he does any of this shit. The other part of wanting to be cool, the part he's actually conscious of, is much more straightforward: he saw Legend as cool, and Legend exemplifies everything he wants to be as a Hero, so naturally he wants to be cool too. It's also kind of part of his desire to be a good dad and get approval from Kaede? He says mid-series that his dream is for her to call him cool.

If you asked him this question IC he'd probably be confused, lmao. all, BEING COOL IS A GOOD THING??? EVERYONE WANTS TO BE COOL, WHY WOULDN'T YOU WANT TO BE COOL...........
