01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

[His hand is freezing cold, the same way it always is. The panic is subsiding just enough that she manages a watery sort of smile. She gives his hand a squeeze. It's nice and solid. It feels terribly real. ]

About two hours?

[She glances towards the bathroom. She'd been in there for about thirty minutes. ]

I was tryin' to get the General to give me some answers about all of this. He's right useless, if you ask me.

[Still more useful than Bill, though, admittedly. Her experience is pretty skewed. She tries to relax her shoulders, ease into posture that's less fright and more this is completely normal and not weird at all. ] When'd you get here, eh? Must feel great, being out of Roarton.

[Kieren offers a reassuring smile in return, though he's not feeling terribly sure of anything right now. Jem's still his baby sister, though, no matter what, and he'll do whatever he can to take care of her.]

Feels like forever, but probably about the same. Couple hours.

[It's been a lot to process, and he's still coming to terms with it all. Half expects to wake up with a pinch, just like her. Like this is some bizarre hallucination from the Neurotriptyline.

Kieren lets go of a quiet laugh, shaking his head.] Well, it's not Paris. [Kind of ironic, since he'd just come to terms with staying in Roarton, belonging there. Roarton meant home, and family, no matter how much work still had to be done to make it an open, accepting place.] A little too sci-fi theme park, for my tastes.

[What with the hover cars, and all.]

Feels like a really bad film that dad made us watch, once.

[Generic 1950s sci-fi horror. The abduction in Florida. Jem snorts out a quiet laugh, feels the rest of the tension ease out of her. She turns to catch the eye of a waitress and then turns back to Kieren with a contemplative look. ]

D'you think they do those giant milkshakes here like in Grease?

Saw a girl with a strawberry one the size of her head.

[He relaxes as she does, gives her hand one last squeeze before withdrawing his.]

You should get one. They look pretty good.

You don't mind, do you?

[She imagines it must be awkward, always having to watch her eat. ]

I mean, you've never said anything. But it must be dead boring having to sit with us while we all stuff our faces and you aren't.
