POOR ANNIE she really doesn't have many options and it sucks :C

And ahahahahahahahahahaha well. It's not exactly a supervillain type scenario but this does come up in the novel. I can't name them (and I haven't written that far ahead so it's all subject to change anyway), but Jayden will be known by a few titles. People of his ilk generally are.

Is Annie going to try to engage in Valentine's Day or is she just like "this is stupid, fuck it"? I can't imagine Jayden's explanation is helping any XD

hahaha no fuck valentines. kanaya broached it as a romantic holiday, she takes it to mean that at her very adult age (in her mind and in her culture) that means it only matters if you have a lover (be it just physical or with an emotional attachment) and since it's pretty linked to being physical in her mind (not sexual, necessarily) she has approximately no one she's like that with so the holiday itself is irrelevant.

unless someone were to tell her, "annie I care about this," she'd ignore it. even if they told her that, unless they really, genuinely, honestly matter to her, she wouldn't see a point in engaging in this tradition - why would she? kids do to be kind to all kids, but she's not a child. and at that point it'd be tantamount to being propositioned, and frankly, that's stupid, just be blunt and ask if you want to date, man, okay, it'll go terribly she's sure of that but hey, if you want to risk it...

so that's her standpoint on it. I sincerely doubt anyone's going to decide to tell annie THIS MATTERS TO ME and be in the circle of people where she'd stop and consider this and explore why, without dismissing it out of hand as being stupid and part of a culture she doesn't jive with.
