TEST DRIVE MEME

Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!

Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!

01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

[Oh, he is absolutely glad they have no credit cards. They don't need to end up in debt so soon after arriving, especially with their father there and Melkor potentially watching smugly as they would get lectured.

No. No thanks. He doesn't want Melkor to feel as if he has too great an upper hand by not being in debt.]

It's what they recommended when I searched the store. They said that I "looked hot" in black.

[ She tsks and lays her head on his shoulder ]

Such funny ways to describe things! I don't know - with that colouring you really need a bit of colour. They have so many options to chose from! I think perhaps when we get home, I'll do your new robes in a green, maybe. Or a dark blue, instead.

[A soft chuckle, almost too soft for others to hear.]

Robes may make us stand out, dearest. It's why I chose to buy some of the clothes here. People crowding for our 'pictures' has already grown tedious and I've made a point of covering my tattoo.

[The fewer signs that they're imPorts, the better, in his opinion.] I will not object to color though if you truly wish it.

Mm, I suppose so. [ She reaches up to peck a kiss on his cheek, delighted by the new sensations of being tied to a form like this ]

I promise I will keep it subtle love. But mm, yes, I think you might look nice in green or blue.

[He smiles at the sensation himself, reaching to brush at her hair.]

Thank you. [He turns his head to give her a quick kiss.] Green or blue seems a fine alternative. [So long as it's a dark shade of either color but he knows it isn't likely to be.]

[ She laughs softly and leans against him - only the souls in Mandos and their fellow Valar have probably ever seen them like this - downright cuddly, really ]

Mm, I promise they will not be an embarrassment to you.

[It really is very rare. He's not sure they really ever give the other Valar a chance to see them like this.

He shakes his head, giving her an almost stern look but she'll see that his eyes are alight.]

As if anything made by your hands could embarrass anyone.

[ psh. The other valar know dear, we may not be fond of PDA but they are hardly stupid ]

Hah! And yet you still won't wear that one I made for you for Yule... there's nothing wrong with red and white!

[Well no, they certainly aren't but he does like keeping them from seeing more of his life than they need to. Námo always tends to be more private than the others.]

Red is hardly my "color," I think.

[ ... well there is always their ahem private gallery of tapestries... ]

Well the Humans like it! It's festive, dear. And I am sure you would look lovely in it.

[ She laughs softly at him and leans against his side again, patting his arm ]

I am sure you would look very handsome in it, but I won't make you wear it love.

[Way to turn his words against him, Vaire. That's hardly fair and he gives her a little look, fighting back any amusement.]

Each of them has their own sense of style though. As I do too.

[He holds her close.] If you assure me that I would though, how can I argue?

[ She's his wife, that's her job ]

Well I certainly hope your 'style' extends to more than just 'Emo Goth Punk' [ She teases and leans happily into his hold, winding her arms around him in turn ]

Hm, well perhaps we can keep it for the private collection then~

Would I not have to start wearing that heavy eyeliner these people favor and cut my hair so that one eye is always covered then? [A bit of a stereotype perhaps but Namo is still learning about this place and their styles and the people.]

Our private collection sounds a fair enough alternative.

[ She raises an amused eyebrow at him ]

If you do, dearest, remember that I weave everything. I am sure your brother, for example, would find amusement in that tapestry! Why, we might even get your sister to stop crying and laugh, instead!
