TEST DRIVE MEME

Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!

01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

[There's a slight start as they start to rise, but she isn't entirely unused to flying. Just in the matter of being assisted by someone else. So she attempts to remain still and hold tight to Tooth until they are securely on the roof.

Once there she seems to somewhat relax a little, taking in the situation, taking in Tooth more now.]

Y-your wings. Are you....a fairy?

[she lets out a sigh of relief once they're there. It's not everyday that she gets surrounded by adults who wants everything to do with her. She smiles at the question and nods]

Mmhm! I'm the tooth fairy. It's nice to meet you.

[keystaff]

[Okay, that gets a reaction for sure. Sakura's eyes widen in amazement and surprise at that. Of course she knows of the Tooth Fairy back home. She just never actually managed to stay up long enough to spot her or any of the Baby Tooths.]

T-the tooth fairy?! Really? So are you just...visiting here to collect these children's teeth?

[Wait, no. Slow down. Deep breaths. Introductions!]

I'm Sakura.

[It makes Toothiana so happy to find someone whose isn't immediately questioning her existence]

Hi, Sakura. I'm... well, according to the woman who drove me here, I'm here to be a hero? I guess the children here need protection too.

Ah, yes. They said something about being a hero. I guess that's true, I couldn't just sit back and let them get hurt just now. I just never....thought of it like that before.

[But. Wow. Playing hero with the Tooth Fairy. That is kind of amazing okay. Don't mind Sakura being suddenly much more fidgety and 'floaty' as a result, sorry Tooth.]

I saw what you did. You were really brave, saving those boys like that.

I--well, someone had to help....or they could have been hurt. I wasn't sure that car saw them or would stop in time, so....

[Sakura fidgets a bit, shy and embarrassed almost. She's only used to Tomoyo or Syaoran seeing her exploits with the cards, after all. Not so many in such a crowd. But it doesn't seem much point keeping it a secret after that.]

But how did you jump like that? Was it magic?

I've just never...in front of so many people like that before. But it's magic. Well, Clow-san's magic with the Cards. I guess I have a bit of magic too, to be able to use them myself.

[Not really much point keeping this a secret now. So she shows Tooth the cards, Jump specifically is on top of the pile of nineteen cards, given that's the one she most recently used to save those kids.]

[Tooth flutters a little closer to the ground so she can see the cards better]

Wow. I don't think I've ever seen a thing like that before. You're one special girl.

I can do a few different things with the Cards. So I guess that's one way I could help. Be a hero. It was all an accident. I didn't know they were in that book in the basement until I opened it and they scattered. I had to find and catch them to make things right after that. Kero-chan was helping me but I haven't seen him around....

[But then, she wouldn't have met Syaoran or Kero otherwise if she hadn't found and opened that book. Or Yue. So perhaps it isn't entirely a bad thing overall.]
