TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!

Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!

And remember to have fun!

    01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

    02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

    03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

    04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

"The authorities of this world are too often weak and untrustworthy," Dooku intones. He has the kind of voice that rarely just 'says' anything: he intones, he pronounces, he commands. "The people must see our power, to know that there is justice in the streets." Preferably justice of an iron-fisted nature.

The Count inclines his head to her in appreciation. "As you say, punishment is indeed necessary. I will follow up with the police once the man is identified. I intend to follow his trial with great interest, to ensure he receives no undue leniency. If you like, I could keep you updated regarding his fate." The offer is made with a courteous air. Dooku always plays the part of the genteel nobleman to the hilt, even when he is hitting people with lightning.

"You're right about that," Sabriel says, "People should know they can trust us- and that we won't attack them without cause."

"But yes- I would like to follow his trial- and where are my manners? My name is Sabriel- I'm a new arrival to this world." She bowed a little, years of etiquette training taking over. "This world is unlike my own, in many ways- there are many things I have yet to learn."

Polite, intelligent, well-spoken. A touch naive, but who isn't in the eyes of the Sith? Dooku decides to give Sabriel a smile. "It is a pleasure, Sabriel. I am Count Dooku. I have seen many worlds as backward as this one in my travels across the Galaxy. Perhaps I can be of some assistance in your learning."

Although Dooku himself has not been on Earth for long, he is confident he can master this society, and sees benefit in convincing Sabriel he can be generous and useful to her. It is often better to give knowledge than to ask for it- better to be the Master than the apprentice.

"I would appreciate that," Sabriel was in no position to turn down knowledge, "The technology here is strange, but I'm eager to learn how to use it, your lordship- and I will repay you however I can." She was a little too embarrassed to admit that the technology here seemed rather advanced to her.

Oh, and she called him lordship as well. Wonderful. Dooku held up a hand with a smile on his face, feigning a more familiar air even as he inwardly preened. "Come now, there is hardly need for that. Consider it a favour from one ImPort to another. I am pleased to be of assistance." Demands for repayment came later, once he had his hooks in someone a bit further.

"Now then," he continued. "Where shall we start? Perhaps with some item you are especially curious about." He began walking away as they talked, leading her away from the crime scene where the police were still dealing with the aftermath of Dooku's apprehension. The Count didn't give it a backwards glance. If the authorities wanted his statement of the events that had just transpired, they could come and speak with him. He had other matters to attend to now.
