TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!
Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!
And remember to have fun!01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.
02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.
03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!
04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

frigga • mcu
[ A woman arrayed in a golden gown, accented with the odd flair of Asgardian armour here and there, currently divides her attention between the children she must crouch to speak with and the polite (if somewhat redundant) young man standing a short distance away. He seems to think she needs the protection, which is awfully sweet of him but she hasn't yet found the heart to inform the Midgardian boy his services really aren't needed. She can be seen walking through the crowd with a small army of little girls in tow, hands clasped in hers. Sometimes she will be braiding their hair, other times instructing them on the correct way to hold a (metaphorical) sword. It's all in an attempt not to think about a blade driving up through her heart.
The Queen is what they call her, but the name Frigga gets around too; the atmosphere is a little denser around her than it should be, for she hasn't spent time around mortals in an age. Perhaps you will see her working a little bit of magic for the amusement of the children, loud in their delight. ]

he's in a loose sweatshirt and a pair of jeans. (always resourceful, his boots are under his pants. the worst part about wearing them was that he had to find some awfully tall socks--but he's been creative with it.) he blends in well, only getting a few turns of the head from the more sensitive of the mortal bunches milling around him in excitement.
but what's happening over there is definitely an Asgardian thing and he if there were a breeze he'd be knocked off his feet. his gut lurches, and his first reaction is to turn tail and take off. and he almost does before he takes a second glance.
not the same, he breathes, multiverse!
instead of approaching, he keeps himself in the crowd, watching while he tries to organize his own emotions. ]

When she catches a flicker of green eyes amidst the otherwise dull faces, her first step is more of a stride in a bid to seek him out. It doesn't matter what he looks like, she can feel him close, the warmth of her own impression on the land trying to reach over. ]
Loki?

Er, yes ... Hello.
[ well, he was caught, and there wasn't much he could do about it except for go down gracefully. ]
Most likely not what you were expecting, most likely. Tell me I'm a million times more handsome.
[ it's partially a joke, and also partially from letting a conversation get to heavy too quickly when he's not yet equipped for it. ]

[ She watches him throughout, the little quirks that are similar and not, and she knows. A mother knows, and an All-Mother is never so easily fooled by a simple matter of time and geography. One needn't be Heimdall to understand the nature of the differences alight in him. There are similarities too which make her smile as she offers him her hands, looking up into his green eyes with a reserved, stately sort of affection. I have loved you elsewhere. ]
... when all my sons are so terribly handsome?
[ Not only her Loki and Thor, but the multitudes. My sons has that certain ring to it, edged by a canny smile. ]

there were things he wants to say, but his tongue is too heavy, and he's thankful for it. ]
You know, I could claim that a clever cop-out. You may yet match me in wordplay.
[ but it's said in all fondness. some things never change across dimensions, and some aspects of Loki will always be a few. ]

I must concede that not all your wiles came from me, I suppose. [ The same teasing egotism, only Frigga mediates it a lot more than her son when she isn't in his company. Her expression softens as she hesitates in touching his face, not wanting to alarm him, and a sigh falls from her as she weighs him up and down. ] Whatever have you been doing with yourself, Loki?
[ The look she gives him stays the words More mischief, if they even think of crossing his tongue. ]

Oh, you know--getting into trouble, ruining things. A little bit of breaking and entering. I thought to take a little multiversal romp. Nothing that you'd approve of, I'm sure. [ and then, somehow, his expression brightens with his next few words. he looks all too gleeful. ] And nothing father would approve of, either.
[ so, that's technically not just "mischief" and all technically true. ]

Loki, do not make things harder on yourself where he is concerned.
[ Why is it always him and not Thor, she raised you right, boy. Meanwhile, the son she has been forced to leave in another dimension is locked up in a vault, and she does feel tired when she is forced to bring that thought into sharper relief (it never leaves, truly, for who will visit him now? I must get home).
She takes his arm, coaxing him to walk with her. ]

Oh, I don't plan on it. Actually, I think I'd rather like to make things just a tad difficult for him.
[ all right, that's a little painfully honest, but it's no secret in the Asgard that he hails. even Thor has butted heads with their father during trying times. of course, Loki has also had the momentary wonder of listening to Odin proclaim his love for his child, so it's not said without a hint of affection.
he walks along with her like a perfect gentleman in a Midgardian sweatshirt. ]
We could see how deep of a shade of scarlet he can turn, and make bets on how quickly he can get there.
