ah, knock out and kitty............... the cr i never knew i wanted but now must have. she is probably knock out's favorite human, although the list of liked humans here is... short. embarrassingly short. let's not get into that. but kitty is at the top of it, because he sees a lot of his younger self in her. he's also amazed his younger self ever survived to see the age he is now, so what started as narcissistic endearment has morphed into OH GOD, WHAT ARE YOU DOING, STOP DOING DANGEROUS THINGS, STOP BEING AN IDIOT, JUST SIT IN A CORNER WHERE HE CAN BE SURE YOU WON'T BE SUDDENLY KILLED. similarly, what started out as pride in having seen through her various fronts and covers has also evolved, and gone into a weird sense of responsibility for her. she doesn't JUST remind him of himself and all his own fronts and covers and everything, but she's proven to be worthy of appreciation on her own merits. that's the kind of thing that gets a grudging respect, which gets less grudging as time passes.

he'll never be a helicopter mom over her, because a) knock out doesn't believe in coddling and b) kitty doesn't need it (part of why he likes her), but he would get righteously offended if someone hurt her. OR KIDNAPPED HER. OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. JUST FOR EXAMPLE. and in a similar vein, he would totally do a murder for her. you know, if she needed it. if she felt threatened, or got hurt by someone, or whatever. not that killing people is a huge deal to him (though he will admit it would be a huge hassle if your murder victim just came back again) of course, so he sort of sees it as just being willing to grant a favor. on level with building a car for her, really. all she'd have to do is ask. :')
