BOTH. honestly joking to deflect uncomfortable questions has become so reflexive for him that sometimes he doesn't even know he's bothered at all. he does do it on purpose sometimes too. HOWEVER in a general sense and not just in uncomfortable situations, it's all genuine. wally doesn't really hide much of himself like bart does; he has a good amount of confidence and has gotten to the point where he can say he really likes himself and if someone else doesn't then that's their problem.

not that there aren't things he doesn't like about himself and stuff he wants to hide, but most of his joy and annoyingness and stuff is for real.

IF WALLY FOUND OUT JAIME ALMOST WENT DARKSIDE......honestly he hasn't seen jaime really throw down yet so he's got no idea how dangerous that could be. Wally also is constantly surrounded by powerful people who could do a lot of damage if they were so inclined and a best friend who very likely has already thought of contingency plans for all of them so.

he might ask more about it? like ask if it was mind control (which he suspects) and if it was he'd just go "don't worry dude if that happens we'll get you back to normal"

anyway wally knows robin is pretty paranoid and stuff but he also gets robin is a cool dude and wouldn't blow his top at jaime or anything so yup. he'd tell him.

i mean he's more irritated with the military for slacking off and ignoring (or not caring about) the dangers than anything. like he assumes most of the people in attendance wouldn't think about that sort of thing, or they're there for the same reason he was: intel and to protect fellow imports who would have no reason to consider the dangers

he's used to being surrounded by competent soldiers who DO consider that sort of thing but he also protects an entire village of people who more or less wouldn't think about it that far (or shouldn't have to think about it since that's HIS job)
