The Headcanon Meme

I. Post with your character. If you've got a bunch, consider doing a catch-all under one header.

II. Poke other characters with questions. Ask about their childhood, crushes, their thoughts on game events. Anything you can imagine.

III. Answer questions people have left for you with your headcanon, or canon if it's been covered there.

IV. Feel free to go into as much or as little detail as you want.

Hazel's general view of the supernatural?

Hazel actively dislikes anything that doesn't fall under the realm of normal, especially the more classical supernatural - magic, mythological creatures, spirits from another world, all that kind of thing. She'll happily tell anyone who'll listen how stupid it all is, and how happy she'd be if she never had to deal with any of it again.

This actually isn't quite the truth, though. The majority of Hazel's ire for the supernatural stems from issues she has with herself rather than strictly being something borne from running into horrible people who happened to be steeped in magic. She's a lot more adaptable than she lets herself be most of the time, and the more not normal things she runs into, the better and better she gets at dealing with it.

This absolutely terrifies her, because she's tied her reactions to the bizarre to her humanity. Hazel feels like as long as she continues to find the supernatural overwhelming and off-putting, she can legitimately say that she's still human. She feels like her grip on humanity is slipping as she finds herself more and more comfortable wading through the mystic bullshit that keeps getting slung her way, which is why a lot of her reactions to things are so over the top. She's manufacturing a lot of it in order to keep herself 'human' in her own eyes.

Honestly, when she's not sabotaging herself she finds a lot of magical things pretty interesting. Some of them remind her of fairytales and others are just plain cool - especially when they're used by friends.
