The Headcanon Meme

I. Post with your character. If you've got a bunch, consider doing a catch-all under one header.
II. Poke other characters with questions. Ask about their childhood, crushes, their thoughts on game events. Anything you can imagine.
III. Answer questions people have left for you with your headcanon, or canon if it's been covered there.
IV. Feel free to go into as much or as little detail as you want.

Once Peter got his ship (which I imagine he got when he was 20-something?), I figure he's always had the opportunity to return home. Sure, the fuel costs would be ridiculous, but it was doable. He just-- never did it. In his mind, there's nothing left there for him; he's been gone for far too long, and he figures the family he was forced to leave behind have grown accustomed to his not being there. He's changed so much since he was a kid, that he'd be a stranger to them, and they'd be strangers to him. Butting into their lives when they probably all thought he's been dead all this time would just be a drama bomb he doesn't want to be responsible for.
He misses his grandfather, like I said above (I have him call him Gramps), but twenty-six years later, he has no idea if the man is still alive (a deleted scene shows that he is). If he did return of his own accord, it would mostly be to visit him. At this point, though, the only reason he'd come home is if there were some sort of threat to Earth that he could put a stop to. Some sort of huge emergency, basically.
If he were to just make a visit, he'd pig out on all the foods he's missed and try to catch up on what's popular in music. He'd avoid Missouri, aim for one of the bigger cities that he always wanted to visit as a kid. Peter would never stay, though; he actually loves the life he's leading in space, as hectic and dangerous as it is. He has a family in his crew, and he'd never want to leave them behind. So he'd gather up all the things he loved growing up -- all the movies and books and toys and whatevers -- and bring them back to his ship, so they could all enjoy it together.
