TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!
Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at someone else's thread, either!
And remember to have fun!01. Your memory might be a haze still and you might even feel frustrated or anxious by the sudden news that you are no longer in your own world and that the Porter scientists and military cannot send you back. You don't get a chance to linger long in the underground Porter lab, but something is clearly amiss; light patches on the floor indicate something else used to sit in that spot in the room. Parts of the wall, floor and the tables look recently refurbished -- something happened in here not too long ago.
You're ushered out quickly and then suddenly, you're enveloped in a faint blue blue light before you find yourself under the bright Floridian sun. Another soldier steps toward you with a smile, directing your attention to a car near a large gate. She mentions she'll be debriefing you soon, handing out a brown folder. You don't see the digital tattoo on your wrist, but it's quickly explained on your way over to the car as you realize there are other confused faces nearby, all holding files of their own.
02. The small, cheery city of Heropa is finishing some downtown construction work following an attack some months ago. There are enough construction crews still around and on break to wave and raise a cup of coffee in a salute to the most obvious imPorts. You might even be thanked for playing a role in saving the city from whatever happened.
Wherever you go, locals are pleasant and courteous enough, sometimes stepping forward to ask for a quick photo or autograph. Every now and then, however, anyone who is so obviously an imPort will find a local backing away from them nervously, pulling their child back with them before closing a door.
03. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, and though it's quieter, there are just as many citizens awed at your presence. Heavy winds have people grasping at their newspapers and constantly brushing hair out of their faces, but that doesn't distract them from crowding you in excitement if you're obviously from a different time or world, or just let it slip that you're a newcomer. Children and young teenagers are especially likely to ask for an autograph and a photo.
Some locals seem less enthused to see you. They never make an approach, but they can be overheard scoffing and muttering something about cameras. "Who do they think they are?" or "I don't like it... it reminds me of the government corruption back in the eighties." What could they be talking about?
04. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania, is just fine as always. Ask the residents about their opinions on the recent two-block space that burned in a fire or the imPorts mixed up in the incident, and the locals will shrug. They're just not interested in talking politics. Try asking the local imPort Ambassador. What's his name? Ryan? Revan? They don't offer any more information. Naturally for a big city, the people are somewhat aloof in nature. You might even notice the police are just the same, turning their heads the other way when two shady figures exchange fat wads of cash at the street corner. Did the police just drive away in their hovervehicle without bothering to observe what those two were up to? They sure did.
05. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities. It's loud, busy and there's some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. Anyone who they come to determine an imPort is bombarded with all sorts of offers; job offers, advertising gigs, spokesperson for advocating children stay in school, etc. Anything and everything! You name it. Shops offer discounts for food and clothing, whatever they need. People flock in droves with questions, but they all say the same thing. Thank you for your service to this country, Hero. You saved a lot of lives. Wow, feels great to be a hero, doesn't it?
Yukito Tsukishiro | Cardcaptor Sakura
[With his casual clothes, he might seem a little overdressed for Florida weather but it doesn't make Yukito stand out as an imPort. It allows him to casually stroll along the streets and take in all of the construction work being done along with everything else. Whenever he passes someone on the street, this teenager seems to have a smile for the stranger. Even gives the children a little happy wave.
Everything seems to be going smoothly even if he's not supposed to be in an alternate world, let alone America. Still, Yukito doesn't appear to look too worried about his recent situation. That all changes when he does notice a native pulling her child back from someone. He jogs over and smiles warmly at the natives, even laying a hand on the woman's shoulder.]
It's alright. [She relaxes a little bit but still ushers off her kid and Yukito turns his attention to the other imPort.] Are you okay?
05. Nonah
[Okay, this might be really strange... or maybe it's not - but this guy right here is sitting outside a restaurant watching people go by. That's not the strange part, though. What is extremely weird is just how much food is on that table and it looks like Yukito is the only one sitting there. He might as well have ordered everything off the menu and there's a stack of already empty plates sitting on the corner.
Approach and he will gesture to the open seat across from his with a beam.] Would you like something to eat?
[Technically Yukito could eat all of this himself but he's always willing to share - even with strangers.]
Wildcard
[OOC: Make a note if you want to have a run-in with Yukito's other self, Yue.]

[Nonah. What a strange name. But a lot of this seems rather strange and new to her. Sakura never imagined the possibility of heading to America, of all places. She's barely been out of Tomoeda, really. Of course there were exchange students sometimes at school, but that's not the same thing as traveling and seeing the world like this herself.
Even if all of this rather does make her feel more than a little overwhelmed. That's all but forgotten the second she spots the familiar silver hair at the restaurant, the piles of food. It makes her pause and stare initially, eyes widening.]
Yukito-san.....? I...um, no. I'm not really hungry just now.
[Least of all given the last she recalls back home. The Final Judgement. That revelation that Yue had been at her side all along. That he was Yukito, her brother's best friend just being a disguise all along.
It's only then she registers the outfit. How strange that would look if he might not recall any of that or know about her mission to find the Clow Cards. She fidgets a little at that, seeming a little self conscious of the latest of Tomoyo-chan's battle costumes for her.]

If he notices her uncomfortable nature, Yukito doesn't say anything. There is obviously something funny going on here and not just the location change the two of them have experienced. Pointing out her clothes is hardly the most important thing. Though, they may have to talk about that at some point.]
Would you like some tea then?
[Something to help her relax and feel a little calmer about all of this.]

[Though she's still perhaps slightly confused, it's really not as much of a surprise as it might be to see him with all this food and such. That much is familiar, if perhaps something that makes her a little guilty. Now that she knows the truth behind his appetite, with his connection to Yue and all. Regardless, there's a nod of agreement as she approaches more, sitting herself down, the staff changing to her necklace once more while he seems to busy himself with the tea.]
When did you get here? Did I just miss you when we arrived or have you been here a while, Yukito-san?
[As good a place as any to start, right? She can't exactly ask about Kero. Though he'd surely know what to do. She already feels so lost without him, even if Yukito offers some small comfort at least.]

The waitress brings the tea rather quickly, setting it down amidst Yukito's plates while taking his stack of empty ones away.]
Early this morning. I wandered around Heropa for a while but didn't find anyone familiar so I thought I'd look around the other cities. Are you all right, Sakura?
[Walking around in a costume is one thing, but having her staff active is another. From what he can see, Sakura doesn't look injured.]

[Now she almost feels even worse, thinking of how strange this all must have been for him and how she could have tried to help initially if she'd just found him among the crowd. But it was rather difficult for her to pick out anyone in all of that, given most everyone else was so much taller than her and thus blocked her sight to potentially have found him earlier. Regardless, she's here now and determined to do her best to help keep him safe. Even if it's likely really the other way around with him being Yue.
She'd simply initially had it out from her fight against him - against Yue. Plenty of people had already seen her with it upon arrival it seemed. And from what little she could tell on the situation, people with powers or magic didn't seem so uncommon here. If people asked, she figured she might get away with an excuse like a play or prop or something. But she is still in that habit of attempting to hide it from Yukito.]
Ah, I see. I didn't find anyone either. Dad, Touya-kun, Syaoran-kun, Tomoyo-chan.....but I'm all right! I mean, this is all....pretty amazing and confusing but at least now we know we're not alone, right?
[Spending time with Yukito is one sure way to perk Sakura right up, after all. Even just a little in the face of all of this. It's enough to keep her from being completely overwhelmed for now, as she thanks the waitress for the tea.]

Yes, I'm so glad you saved me from that terrifying encounter. My fragile ego couldn't bear the thought of some old bat disliking me.
[ She'd actually reveled in it. Had Yukito not interfered, she might have even given the woman some real reason to be afraid. ]

You're welcome. [Maybe he's just an idiot... nah, he's just not going to let Azula get to him.] Though it almost looked as if they might have needed the help more than you.

She's got an Olympic medal in it

Ah...err...no, thanks. [Seeing how anything that counts as "normal" food would taste downright awful to her...But she's not going to mention anything about it.]
Did you order all this to lure people to sit with you or something?
