Okay, here I go! I'm barely awake over here, so this should be interesting.

A lot has changed in the two months (just under?) they lived together. Krei hated Robert when they first arrived here, and he definitely knew the feeling was mutual. The only reason he approached Robert during their first Swear-In was to ensure his own safety. He had no intention of repairing their relationship beyond what would benefit him, but all the time they were made to spend together due to shared housing and Project Phoenix eventually led him to developing an amicable relationship with Robert that doesn't rely entirely on self-preservation.

He still doesn't trust Robert, and he's still scared of him, but he's... sort of comfortable around him? Comfortable enough that he can crack jokes and make him coffee and bring up subjects he's passionate about. So basically, he's comfortable enough to treat Robert in much the same way he did during the period they were friends. These sorts of interactions have made him realize he values his relationship with Robert. They'll probably never be best friends, but he doesn't want them to just tolerate each other for the greater good. He wants them to genuinely get along.

Which is in complete conflict with how much anxiety and general distress Robert causes him. I mean, the guy tried to kill him! He's frightened of him! He still has nightmares of the microbots and Yokai! He has a lot of mixed feelings! All those awful things he yelled during his fight with Robert? Are drawn from thoughts he has actually had, and they're things he's pushed down and pushed down because he doesn't know how to deal with them and doesn't want to deal with them. If he ever does bring them up (and he probably will if/when they discuss the War incident), he's deliberately going to speak about them through focus on Robert's feelings, rather than his own. That's a lot easier than trying to address whatever the fuck is going on in his own head.
