01. Your memory might be a haze still and you might even feel frustrated or anxious by the sudden news that you are no longer in your own world and that the Porter scientists and military cannot send you back. You don't get a chance to linger long in the underground Porter lab, but something is clearly amiss; light patches on the floor indicate something else used to sit in that spot in the room. Parts of the wall, floor and the tables look as if they have been refurbished in the past few months -- something happened in here some time ago. Something big.

You're ushered out quickly and then suddenly, you're enveloped in a faint blue blue light before you find yourself under the bright Floridian sun. Another soldier steps toward you with a smile, directing your attention to a car near a large gate. She mentions she'll be debriefing you soon, handing out a brown folder and a pamphlet. You don't see the digital tattoo on your wrist, but it's quickly explained on your way over to the car as you realize there are other confused faces nearby, all holding files of their own.

02. The city of Heropa is what one might expect from a small, bright and cheery place. The locals are friendly enough and local shop owners might offer a free drink to help cool you down in this awfully nauseating heat. Some of the locals might thank you for always lending your service to the nation and others might not say anything. In fact, some people might back away from any imPort who quite obviously looks like they aren't from around the neighborhood. Once in a while there's a look of disdain on someone's face and hushed voices. Something about "the outbreak" and "the government's gotta crack down on their medical files". "Some of them can't be right in the head" says another.

03. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, and though it's quieter, there are just as many citizens awed at your presence. Heavy winds have people grasping at their newspapers and constantly brushing hair out of their faces, but that doesn't distract them from crowding you in excitement if you're obviously from a different time or world, or just let it slip that you're a newcomer. Children and young teenagers are especially likely to ask for an autograph and a photo.

Some locals seem less enthused to see you. They never make an approach, but they can be overheard scoffing and muttering something about cameras. "Who do they think they are?" or "I don't like it... it reminds me of the government corruption back in the eighties." What could they be talking about?

04. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania, is normally known for being a little more on the apathetic side, but there's been tension in the atmosphere lately. Nobody will outright state what it is that's rustled their jimmies, though you might find a newsstand with articles on recent and aggressive vigilante behavior within the city. "ImPorts: loyal to the cause of their own?" reads one newspaper article.

People are not as friendly in this city and go out of their way to avoid walking down the same sidewalk as the more obvious looking imPorts pass through. Local cops say nothing, but they scowl at those imPorts and utter something about "no badges" and "acting like authority figures".

05. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities. It's loud, busy and there's some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. Anyone who they come to determine an imPort is bombarded with all sorts of offers; job offers, advertising gigs, spokesperson for advocating children stay in school, etc. Anything and everything! You name it. Shops offer discounts for food and clothing, whatever they need. People flock in droves with questions, but they all say the same thing. Thank you for your service to this country, Hero. You saved a lot of lives. Wow, feels great to be a hero, doesn't it?

This one is nicer than most, I guess. I like the doors.

[lifepreserver]

Well thanks, I guess. [he says, teasing her again.] A lot of people comment on the doors. You'd think more would be interested in the whole flying part, but I guess that's a normal thing here.

[There's also the little feature concerning time travel, but that doesn't work, just like before. None of those panels are lit up.

No point in mentioning that, Marty decides. Time travel is sticky business, and he's still iffy about mentioning it to people.]

[vacationer]

I was sort of expecting the flying.

[She's still watching the ground below them go by with an interested look on her face, though.]

The doors were a surprise.

[lifepreserver]

Nothing screams sporty car like doors that go up instead of sideways.

[He just smiles a little as they make their way to their destination. When they do, he pulls up to the curb, parking along the street with some of the other vehicles that have done similarly. It's a quaint little malt shop; it looks busy inside, but not overcrowded, and Marty's really hoping for a burger and fries.

Up go those doors again.]

Hope this place is good. I'm starving.

[vacationer]

[Lourdes eyes the place critically.]

I've gotten used to gourmet food.

But I'd love a milkshake.

[She doesn't have a purse with her, but that doesn't matter. She plans on getting whatever she wants for free.]

[lifepreserver]

Gourmet? [He steps out of the DeLorean, giving the place a once-over, more out of curiosity than anything else.] A meal you pay fifty dollars for and it comes out to you on a tiiiny little plate? No thanks. I need a burger today.

[And Marty can cover a milkshake, which is what he's planning on doing. It'd be rude to drag someone out here and expect for them to pay for their own milkshake on their first day. (He just hopes the money in his wallet is still good in this universe, too.)]

[vacationer]

It never cost me anything. It was always cooked especially for me.

[She walks into the malt shop, and a path immediately clears for her - everybody moves out of her way, even people who are already waiting in line.]

Hmmm. I feel like vanilla today.

[lifepreserver]

[Cooked for her? Oh, right. Important people.

Marty follows, about to say something, but he closes his mouth when he sees people moving away, kind of like when you stick the two wrong ends of magnets together. It's even weirder once the people in the line disperse for them as well.]

Uh...

[Is all he can manage for now.]

[vacationer]

What?

[She says it like nothing is amiss; like this happens every day.]

[lifepreserver]

Why's everyone acting all... [vague hand motion] ...weird?

[vacationer]

They're letting us cut in line. Isn't that nice of them?

[lifepreserver]

No, it's kind of creepy.

[He looks at her, and dons something of a suspicious look. Marty might be clumsy and a little impulsive, but he's not dumb.]

Hey, are you doing this?

[vacationer]

I can't believe it took you this long to figure it out.

[She walks up to the counter and orders a large vanilla shake.]

[lifepreserver]

You're controlling these people? [Her casual tone is contrasted by his, which just sounds a little alarmed.] I'm not sure that's a great idea; that's the kind of thing you get in trouble for. Just let them go, I don't mind the line.

[vacationer]

I do. I don't think I should have to wait in line.

[The waiter hands her her milkshake, and she walks off with it; no money changes hands.]

[lifepreserver]

You don't- [He begins, but is cut off as she walks off.] Jesus Christ. [Marty digs around in his pockets for some cash, sets it on the counter as a form of payment, and follows her to one of the booths, forgetting about his own burger in light of all of that.]

Ok, so, here's the thing. You can't do that. I don't want to get thrown into superhero jail or whatever it is here for stealing a friggin' milkshake.

[vacationer]

You didn't do anything.

[She sits down at the booth, still completely calm.]

You weren't even an accomplice.

[lifepreserver]

[He slides into the both, opposite of her, and leans forward with his elbows on the top.]

I don't think that's the point! I'm guilty by association now. [Or at least he would be; thank god he had cash to cover it.] You do that kind of thing a lot where you're from?

[With how casual she's being, he's guessing the answer is yes.]

[vacationer]

Sure.

[She sips her milkshake.]

I do whatever I want.

[lifepreserver]

[He runs a hand through his hair.]

That might have worked out for you back home, but I dunno how well it'll fly here.

[vacationer]

No one's doing anything to me now.

[lifepreserver]

But what happens when you end up stealing from the wrong person? Or... controlling the wrong person? You wanted to know more about this place, right? Then one important thing to remember is that not all the imPorts brought here are very forgiving people.

[vacationer]

Do you think what I do is limited to getting milkshakes?

If somebody gets angry and tries to hurt or punish me, I'll make them stop.

[lifepreserver]

[Marty of course highly doubts she limits her abilities to milkshakes. That's why he's showing uncertainty in the first place.]

There were a lot of powerful people here the last time; it's probably the same this time around. What if you find someone who's way out of your league, power-wise?

Nobody is out of my league powers-wise.
