GET YOUR DUCKS IN A ROW FOR THE CR MEME

Welcome to [community profile] maskormenace's tenth
CR MEME!!

We've decided to make some changes to the meme to make filling it out simpler. How does this work? It's easy!
Make a thread for yourself or a comment with your character's name on it. Reply to that post with your filled out forms for organization's sake.
Comment to other people! See if their answers fit anything you're looking for and if yours fit anything they are. Don't be intimidated, carpe diem, we like to party.
Keep checking back! We strongly encourage you to track top-levels even, if possible. New characters may get accepted and post to this meme after today and we want to make sure everyone gets their fair shot.
    Play nice and have fun!
    Name: Your character!
    Canon: Self-explanatory!!
Character's (approximate) age: Or how old they appear.
Is your character registered/will they be?: Why or why not! Maybe unsettled heroes will want to make connections with each other. Maybe registered heroes will want to team up. So on!
What is your character's job?: And are they sticking with it? Enjoying it? Coordinate with potential coworkers, employers, or patrons -- why not!
What are your character's plans?: Either what they're doing as we speak or what you'd like to do with them!
What kind of plots are you after?: Let the brainstorming commence. This can be as vague, specific, or "big picture" as you'd like.
Anything else?: If you have anything else to add! Anything from a brief summary of what your character's personality is like, to their likes or dislikes, housing situation, etc.

Harvey wouldn't turn down a job! EVEN IF IT'S CRANE... even if he's not thrilled about it HAHA but, especially now since his position is "since the law is unfair my job should be balancing it as much as possible from where I am" which starts with being an accessible lawyer to anyone regardless of who they are... (etc. etc.) so.

that said, since the coin et. al is still a factor we can still utilize either/both good and bad flips if we want to play with how smoothly (or not) things go from there.

SUCH FAITH IN YOUR CLIENT, HARV. It's going to be horrible if we do this, considering the rolling fall-out between Harvey and Bruce. Crane has to have his multicar pileups. It might be interesting if the coin takes things in a bad direction; especially when one considers Crane was messing around with the system and trying to make people feel it's unbalanced. That might be an interesting thing to get them starting to talk, perhaps?

Plus if I'm right, Crane can't refuse a visit from an appointed public defender? AMERICAN RULES. I NEED TO CHECK THEM.

since usually one needs to apply and qualify for a Public Defender in the first place, refusing one would be counterproductive anyway -- but specifically the client wouldn't know who their Public Defender was beforehand, and if Harvey were appointed to Crane's case he wouldn't turn it down for conflict of interest because his whole thing is that he isn't biased. so that part works out! and then yeah while I can't predict the specifics of Harvey's reactions until they start talking, the rest might come during the attorney/client interview and we can branch off from there.

(though if he'd be inclined to refuse representation altogether I'd have to look up the procedure for that since I don't remember it offhand.)

Thank you for this lovely info.

Given Harvey's appointment to Crane's case, or rather the random nature of it, what you said works for getting them involved. That's also going to make him a gleeful little shit [well, he's CRANE] considering the whole Harvey-Bruce mess that's been happening lately. But like you say, things'll branch off after the interview.

Given the aforementioned mess, I don't see Crane refusing his help once he realises who's been appointed. I imagine he might apply for a public defender, rather than refuse representation. Simply because the person has to fight his corner, knowing what he did. That power, man. Then it just protracts things on the stand.

Tl;dr. Crane's a dick.

no problem! you can tell I have spent far too long playing lawyers.

Crane's probably lucky to wind up with the lawyer who won't/can't refuse his case, too, even if also the lawyer who has a substantial criminal history himself (to be fair, mostly not in this universe). ✨Gotham bonding at its finest✨

Indeed! I'm looking forward to it.

Since you'll know this, most likely, when people are jailed for arraignment before their trial, are they allowed visitors outside the legally required ones? I... have never played a lawyer and I'm going to Google this too, but if you know.

And yes. Lovely Gotham bonding.

iirc technically it is allowed -- in addition to the phone calls he'd be entitled to -- but the police aren't required to let such visitors in (aside from lawyers, the persons posting bail (when applicable), or obviously guardians in the case of minors). so, it's something that would depend on the present officer's judgement and discretion!

So best err on the side of caution. Harvey should be fine, given he's the lawyer in this case. Given what Crane's done, I can't see them or RISE/whoever's responsible admitting willy-nilly - so when I post an arraignment log I'll throw up something for Harvey and plurk the info here, and be discerning about it.

Thank you for the help!
