01. Your memory might be a haze still and you might even feel frustrated or anxious by the sudden news that you are no longer in your own world and that the Porter scientists and military cannot send you back. You don't get a chance to linger long in the underground Porter lab, but something is clearly amiss; light patches on the floor indicate something else used to sit in that spot in the room. Parts of the wall, floor and the tables look as if they have been refurbished in the past few months -- something happened in here some time ago. Something big.

You're ushered out quickly and then suddenly, you're enveloped in a faint blue blue light before you find yourself under the bright Floridian sun. Another soldier steps toward you with a smile, directing your attention to a car near a large gate. She mentions she'll be debriefing you soon, handing out a brown folder and a pamphlet. You don't see the digital tattoo on your wrist, but it's quickly explained on your way over to the car as you realize there are other confused faces nearby, all holding files of their own.

02. The city of Heropa is what one might expect from a small, bright and cheery place. The locals are friendly enough and local shop owners might offer a free drink to help cool you down in this awfully nauseating heat. Some of the locals might thank you for always lending your service to the nation and others might not say anything. In fact, some people might back away from any imPort who quite obviously looks like they aren't from around the neighborhood. Once in a while there's a look of disdain on someone's face and hushed voices. A snippy voice wonders aloud: "My taxes are going to their parties and other expenses? When are they going to do something for us for a change?"

03. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, and though it's quieter, there are just as many citizens awed at your presence. Heavy winds have people grasping at their newspapers and constantly brushing hair out of their faces, but that doesn't distract them from crowding you in excitement if you're obviously from a different time or world, or just let it slip that you're a newcomer. Children and young teenagers are especially likely to ask for an autograph and a photo.

Some locals seem less enthused to see you. They never make an approach, but they can be overheard scoffing and muttering something about cameras and an incident involving gas. "Biological warfare... we sure some of them haven't defected?"

04. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania, is normally known for being a little more on the apathetic side, but there's been tension in the atmosphere lately. Nobody will outright state what it is that's rustled their jimmies, though you might find a newsstand with articles on recent and aggressive vigilante behavior within the city. "ImPorts: loyal to the cause of their own?" reads one newspaper article.

People are not as friendly in this city and go out of their way to avoid walking down the same sidewalk as the more obvious looking imPorts pass through. Local cops say nothing, but they scowl at those imPorts and mutter under their breaths resentfully about "vigilantes". However, not all locals turn the other way seeing imPorts; some of them will offer a polite enough smile and compliment them for quick thinking at the last Swear-In. They don't stop to clarify what they mean, though.

05. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities. It's loud, busy and there's some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. Anyone who they come to determine an imPort is bombarded with all sorts of offers; job offers, advertising gigs, spokesperson for advocating children stay in school, etc. Anything and everything! You name it. Shops offer discounts for food and clothing, whatever they need. With Halloween fast on the approach, many of them are offering pumpkin-flavored foods and beverages, and others are trying to get the more obvious looking imPorts to consider allowing local businesses to sell costumes of them.

[Where is Marion?

There's a rock of worry in her stomach even as Linca takes in the information, nods like she's not a whole world away in her thoughts, trying to think back to being last at home. She had helped Escha, Logy and their friends with the Unexplored Ruins, brought Flameu and Cloné together, and things were... peaceful, more or less. As peaceful as they ever had been, trying to stave off the monsters plaguing the outskirts of Colseit.

She's led out the door, clutching the manila folder to her chest. It's the only thing she has, besides the gigantic sword hanging from her shoulders. The idea of reading it is daunting.

When she gets outside, she's awed. This place is nothing like Colseit, or even the enormous city of Vierzeberg. This place, she's sure, must be what the world looked like before the Dusk. Linca stops, eyes widened -- she's sure her mouth is hanging open.]

[It's lively here, which helps her take her mind off of being alone. Linca doesn't mind being by herself when there's fighting to be done, but in a place like this that doesn't seem to have any monsters, it's different. So after being guided back through the Porter that brought her here, she's found herself in Nonah.

She's carrying a huge amount of things in her arms -- pamphlets, her file, promotional tissues, business cards (floating after her as she walks), even a T-shirt someone handed her. Someone has given her a lollipop, which she's sucking on absently as she walks, huge broadsword still strapped to her back. It's this more than anything that marks her an an imPort, though her tattoo is visible. It's a weird sort of train following her, with a couple of reporters trying to get her to answer their questions, a couple of kids who seem to be trying to touch her sword, and inexplicably, a dog.]

[ Yep, broadsword. That is definitely a broadsword.

The Doctor had been shopping, if by shopping you mean dumpster diving behind electronic stores until somebody chased him off. So he's weighed down with an equally amount of impressive things, mostly broken little bits, plugs, remote controls, small little accessories, things he can scavenge for wire and copper and bits and bobs. They're bulging from his pockets or, in the case of some of the cords and wires, loosely wrapped around his arm. But, most importantly, he's got plastic bags. He never was a Boy Scout, but he's got be prepared down pat.

So, he walks up to Linca, gives her a smile and then...practically shoves a plastic bag in her face. ] I imagine you'll need this. It really is a pity they don't give you a complementary tote bag when you arrive here. That used to be a thing.

[ Complementary tote bags, that is. And, at least, back on his Earth. The Doctor has no idea if this world ever was pro-complementary tote bag. ]

[It would be one thing if he had been here for months, and finally got the car. But Kavinsky isn't the kind of asshole to waste time on shit that delays gratification.

This car isn't exactly street legal. This car isn't exactly local, either, or if it is, it's local from the inside of Kavinsky's head; a white Mitsubishi, with an enormous spoiler, but at least he's gotten enough time here that it doesn't have wheels.

The last detail is the knife that's detailed on the side, and the knife matches his smile, like a shark's. There's something not right about this kid. There's a cigarette hanging from the corner of his mouth, and he's lounging in the front seat, as if he's waiting for something, or someone.

(It's different here, he can tell, because the forgery left him depleted, but he'll shake it, he doesn't care. He just has to figure out the way it works here, that's all.)

There's a kid coming up to the car, wide eyed, and Kavinsky sits up as the kid starts to say something. He's wearing a uniform - he works for the building that the car is parked in front of, and shit is going to turn ugly fast, because the conversation is going something like sir, you have to leave, and just the uncaring face of a man who is really used to getting his way; fuck off is the kindest thing to come out of his mouth, but he looks like he's about to have a good time, not like he's actually mad.]

[This is what he knows for sure, because he's done it: dying is a boring side effect.

What isn't a boring side effect is the way that he apparently has a new thing (dreaming is an old thing, still good, maybe still excellent, but this is shiny and pretty and addictive. Shiny and addictive is the way his touch can act as a drug, like speed or coke or some designer shit, the way that inside of this dance club he slips his fingers over someone's neck and they shudder and pause and look at him, and there's that worshipful thing, that need to want him.

Once he figures how to bottle that shit up, that's what he'll be doing. He doesn't dance now, though, he just passes by people, watches their faces drop wide open with whatever he wants them to feel, watches the shudder of addiction.

[ The car attracts Kitty's attention, because it just sticks out so much. It's an ugly thing, out of place, almost obscene in its aggressive non-conformity to the styles popular here. She know it's got something to do with the imPorts, because anything that glaringly not-from-this-place has something to do with the imPorts.

And that's why she steps in and says to that poor valet - ]

It's all right, I'll talk to him.

[ Because, yeah, she doesn't work here, she doesn't even work in this town, she hasn't got anything to do with that nervous valet, but the locals oughtn't feel obligated to put up with imPort nonsense. So Kitty steps in - the kid backs away with clear gratitude - and she puts her hands on her hips and peers in through the window at the skinny boy with the assholish expression. Politeness first. ]

Hullo. There's a lot around the corner if you want to wait there. I can point it out to you.

Narcissa Malfoy | Harry Potter

[The folder is shoved into her hands and suddenly she is being ushered towards a strange object. A car? It seems rather inefficent compared to Portkeys, Floo, or simply Apparating.

Narcissa took in what was being told to her but she barely had a chance to glance over what had been given her. There seemed to be other Muggles around- at least no one seemed to recognize her. It was the only thing which kept her from taking out the wand hidden in her pocket. She had been told briefly about the powers and so as soon as she believed she was out of sight, the wand was taken out as she let go of the papers. They floated in mid air for a moment before folding up as if by themselves and zipping into her other hand.

Well, that was that.]

[So this is America. Narcissa had only traveled to Europe a few times but never over the pond. She doesn't stand out- her wand is carefully tucked away but still within reach if needed but she does make an impression in an elegant blue dress and black coat. Her jewelry is not fake- her appearance is one of a woman used to the more expensive things in life.

But she is not used to the Muggle world and when someone offers her a drink, it's nothing she really recognizes. Is that fruit floating in it? But the day is hot and she takes a seat on a bench, leaning back to observe her surroundings with a look similar she might give as if she had stepped in something foul.

The Muggle world was not at all impressive.]

[Lucius had been given the same treatment and believed it just as far as he needed to. Powers. Tch. Magic is supreme. But there are Muggles about and he knows well how to walk among them without drawing attention when he didn't want it. It's what has him in a well-tailored black suit with a few accents of silver at the cuffs and peeking out at the neckline. He has his hair pulled back at the base of his neck and walks with his cane, though it seems entirely for show. Not a man used to poverty, to be sure!

He walks along, taking in the sights, as it were, with subtle glances. One such glance to one side has him barely pause before stepping as if that was his intent all along. With a raised brow and a muted smile that belied just how relieved he is to see her, he sends a commanding look over to where they were serving drinks. The look got an immediate reaction and another drink was brought over, along with a refill for Narcissa. Finally he nods his dubious thanks and holds the glass out to her, dismissing the man who'd scurried over.]

Perhaps you would care to take a stroll with me?

[ Here's a man in a long leather duster and a pistol on his hip, looking all manner of bewildered up at the busy North Carolina streets. Has he been in cities of this size? Sure. Hell, he's even been on some of the Core worlds, with buildings from here to the sky in all directions. But the tech is strange, and the holidays are weird - Halloween? what? - and he's getting mighty tetchy not knowing what these húndàn have done to his gorram ship. ]

'scuse me! You in the ... hat. Sir. Ma'am. [ He might not even be talking to someone in a hat at this point - he's all turned about. ] I reckon I just heard the most unnatural sort of nonsense back there. Where in the tiān xiǎodé is this 'sposed to be again?

[ This is definitely the weirdest quest she's been on, and she's been on quite a few. For one thing, the Mist is supposed to trick mortals into thinking her electrified spear is something stupid and harmless—a pool cue or a baseball bat or whatever—but she hears several people comment on it as she passes by. It's a good thing she's not decked out in full battle armor or she's pretty sure the cops would be trailing her by now.

Well, whatever. It's not like she can't handle herself even if the Mist is screwing up. She's the daughter of the war god, after all, and she's pretty sure there's not a monster that exists that isn't scared of her.

Unfortunately, the elementary school-aged kids in town didn't get the memo, and Clarisse finds herself surrounded by a very enthusiastic group of them, her scowl deepening with every question they ask: "Hey, can I get your autograph?" "Will you take a picture with me?" "Can I hold your spear?"

The last question proves to be too much for her, and she barks out a shocked and incredulous laugh. ]

Wh—no, you can't hold it!

[ Okay, so being stopped on the street is weird, but being treated like a superhero is actually pretty nice. And it's not impossible for mortals to have heard of her. After all, that loser Percy Jackson hangs out with enough of them. Maybe one of them talked Clarisse up. It's about time people started paying the drakon slayer the respect she so clearly deserves.

She enters a bustling local coffeeshop and scowls at the long line. This is going to take forever, and she doesn't have that kind of time. She stomps the butt of her spear on the floor three times, making the customers turn to stare, before announcing loudly: ]

Out of my way, mortals! I, Clarisse, daughter of Ares, want a pumpkin spice latte, and I don't wait in line.

[Luke had ALMOST made it to the register when he heard a terribly terribly familiar voice. The other residents of Nonah seemed to take in the spectacle of the proud, latte-seeking warrior in the doorway with some mix of good humor and grumbling. A patriotic town or not, this was coffee, and it's REALLY EARLY.

As some patrons of the establishment started giving way, the son of Hermes had a choice to make. He could vanish into the crowd, attempt to slip past her and plot for a meeting with a greater advantage to himself.

Or he could just get this over with.]

Two stereotypes at once? I'm impressed.

[It's not every day you go from a police interrogation room waiting for your mom and dad to cold sterile operating table. That's the explanation he offers to the soldiers for punching the nearest one in the face. While their response is sorry about the lack of anesthetic for having to re-stitch his fingers they're mostly cordial, mostly polite, mostly normal.

He can do this.

Don't freak out, don't freak out, don't freak out. His phantom fingers itch as he flips through the pamphlet again. It's not like this is bad, it's warm enough for him to shed the old jean jacket he came in with and wipe sweat off his forehead before crumpling up the pamphlet and tossing it away - and then moving to pick it back up bumping into people as he goes.

It's not like those things found him.

It's not like he's in danger. Right?]

004: Powers testing.

[His file says "Lycanthrope and animal discourse."

It's a joke.

It's gotta be a fucking joke because the moon has been full (and that's how it works with werewolves right?) and he's not - losing his mind or ripping people to pieces and eating their organs. He's not even hairy - hairier then usual.

But his nose is sharper, his hearing is better, and he sees considerably better at night then he did. Still his head's been pounding for the past few days. He's dragging himself out of work, rubbing the back of his neck.

His mouth is dry, thick and phlegmy.]

Rather be a werewolf then come down with a cold.

[Never mind the stray dog that's sitting right there who perks up and tilts his head. Mike stares at him and offers him a hand.]

You doin' all right partner?

[The dog barks and the dog says -]

Hungry.

[Cue Mike backing up, frowning. He's going to watch him as he walks away. He might knock into people as he leaves, staring back at the dog who's starting to follow him.]

[ When Carl sees a person with dirty, stained clothes and bruised faces, he tends to assume the worst and figures the person has witnessed and survived the end of their world as they know it. Usually because that's usually the case. And Carl makes a point to find and befriend other survivors, because, well, he gets it. The shock of it all. Even if he's clean faced and wearing his usual sheriff's hat. ]

[The tall, dark and confused Frenchman wasn't having the best day currently, surrounded by soldiers as he was. Outwardly he's rather composed, inwardly however he's working very hard to stay that way. He'd understood the basics after all, taken out of his own world, transferred into another fantastical one rife with Superheroes and one could assume, Villains.

It was all faintly ridiculous. He could already tell he wasn't a huge fan of the proceedings. Especially considering he had the idea he'd been busy before this, despite the fog that had settled in his mind. It lifts slightly when he's back in the sunlight and breathing deeply, letting his magic circulate around him like an aura to give him something a little close to comfort. It felt more like home this way, cocooned by his own power, knowing that although he was in a different world he hadn't lost this vital aspect of himself.

When he's handed the pamphlet he considers it for a second, flipping it over and scanning some of it. Dissatisfied he lifts his head, staring at the person next to it- not distinguishing between soldiers and fellow imports.]

I'm sorry, you don't understand. I can't be here, I was very busy.

[The winds here were bracing and Eric found himself enjoying them. The city was unfamiliar of course, but the sentiment was all the same. Winds wrapped around him like a shawl, pulling at his hair and his clothes. It was almost the same as spirits would do this close to Samhain, tugging on physical articles of living people to remind them they existed- especially witches. It was comforting, in a way, that he could feel at home in such a foreign land. But that was the funny thing about travelling, the elements remained the same regardless of where one went.

The autographs and photographs from so called fans of heroes, however, definitely wasn't for him; he'd made the small mistake of asking directions to a coffee shop of some description, clearly the newbie here. After the third time he sighs and the muttered words me brouillez falls out of his lips, with a little snap of magic his form becomes slightly blurred, not quite as distinctive as it'd been seconds before. Almost as if he'd stepped between two planes of existence. It was a simple spell, really, that he used often when travelling between places to avoid being stopped. In this case it worked perfectly, no-one wanted a photo with a man they could hardly see after all.

He smiles a wry smile and steps away from the adolescents, bumping straight into a stranger, his form snapping back into being at the shock.]

Where Eric's trying to hide his annoyance, Mint is just downright showing hers, and is scoffing up a storm. ]

Honestly, this entire thing is quite uncouth.

[ He's used to being treated this way; he silently accepts the explanation and the handling, feeling some sort of strange relief at the fact that it didn't seem to be Cossack (or the WRO) who had brought him back into commission.

He'd trusted his creator to honor his last wishes, after all, if nothing else. And despite all that's happened, he knows in his core that Dr Cossack cares about him.

Anyone else looking at him interacting with the soldiers will likely have thoughts along the lines of "is that a skeleton?" or "is that a walking halloween decoration that got lost?" Tis the season, after all. ]

[ People being friendly to him? He's utterly bewildered by that. Though he doesn't react with violence (thankfully for him and anyone within shotgun radius) at being swarmed by children and teenagers, it does make him freeze up a little.

It's not the best combination. He's still wearing his cloak, too, which means the tall robot is being climbed and asked if he's dressing up for Halloween. ]

...I don't know what Halloween is, [ he manages to get out in his flat, confused kind of way. He gets a clamour of answers in return that he can't really figure out.

Skull man looked like someone who had on board weaponry and twitchy reflexes. That plus a crowd of shrieking children seemed to Atomic Robo like a tragedy waiting to happen. Time to break things up.

Robo addressed the crowd. "Hey, I just saw, uh..." Shoot who were the big name superheroes around here? "...Superman! He was heading towards the park over there. I bet if you hurried, you might be able to get his autograph."

That, along with a few discrete but firm shoves, cleared up the worst of the crowding, and gave Skull Man some breathing room. All that was left was a pair of robots lost in the wrong universe.

Robo stuck his hands in his pockets. "So..."

[ The heat is stifling, but not in that Nicolas has never encountered hot weather before -- summers got into the nineties just as easily where he had lived --but the humidity. It doesn't help that the unkempt man is loath to give up the layers of clothing he had arrived in, having originally come from a far colder time of the year.

Where would he put his trench coat and sweater? Carry them? What if someone takes them?

So that's how it is, an uncomfortable man dressed for much different weather, dealing with Heropa's more disdainful residents. Inevitably, ignoring only goes so far and, irritated, he rounds on the snippy speaker speaking up behind him as he walks by. ]

I do not know where your taxes go.

[ The Russian accent, with an additional growl to it that has nothing to do with where he's from, startles the speaker more than actually being answered does, the woman taking a step back behind the others she's with. ]

Perhaps you should ask your government.

05; no thank you no thank you no-- wait did you say free pumpkin what now?

[ Nonah is nerve-wracking in its own way, but poking around has turned up quite a few places offering an imPort free samples of every pumpkin thing ever. Now, pumpkin in everything is a strange idea to Nick, but he'll take it all. He's lining his coat pockets with napkins full of various cookies, muffins, whatever can be taken with him, all up until he runs into someone offering him a latte.

To that, he gives a wary look. ]

Ah, no. No, that's... no, really-- [ He holds up crumb covered hands, a bit of a pleading gesture. ] I do not think pumpkin should be in coffee. Why is that strange?

wildcard; surprise he's a wolf

[ Any city, anywhere, always at night, a big black wolf can be found prowling the streets of imPort residential areas. Make no mistake, this is -- seemingly -- a wild animal, hard-pressed to be mistaken for a dog by anything short of someone who's literally never seen a picture of a wolf. He stops to sniff the ground at certain points, though, curious, and if approached, well...

He won't run. Probably not a good trait for a wolf to present, though he's certainly not wagging his tail at anyone or tolerating pats on the head, so, there is that. ]

Don't drink that, [ Mint simply responded as she frowned at the person offering the latte. If it was possible for a five foot nothing fourteen year old girl to look down her nose at someone taller than her, that's what Mint was doing.

Of course, it's entirely possible that she's just being petty about the latte. After all, it was getting close to the time when she was supposed to have her afternoon tea, and yet people kept pushing coffee on her! She wasn't going to say no to free things (as long as they weren't trashy, that is) but really, can't they at least try and push something on her she'd actually drink? ]

I'm sure this place here has a proper tea house that would be more than willing to serve us something palatable.

How many times could one person come and go from a world? Anavha was starting to wonder.

It's been so long since he's seen Heropa. He honestly doesn't know how long. He lost track of the time he spent in Torin and he still barely understood the dates here. He couldn't remember what time he was here last in this world.

He takes a deep breath. Slowly this world comes back to him. He had opened a door to go to Aaldia. Yet he was standing in Heropa, yet again.

Anavha couldn't help but smile.

He started down the street leading away from the porter. ]

Excuse me. [ He asks someone who looks more like an imPort to him, he's still wary of the locals. ] Could you tell me what the date is here?

[ Holidays not dedicated to Rhea were a mystery to Anavha, and even then celebration was private and subdued in his home.

This was the complete opposite of what Anavha was used to.

There were many stores decorated with outlandish decorations. Spiders, webs, ooze, gore. Anavha's eyes went wide as he looked into the window of a store that advertised "costumes." There was such a vast assortment of them, and the way some of them looked made him nearly blush. ]

Why does this holiday need... [ He glances up again. ] Costumes...

05: Just walk away...

[Nonah, North Carolina is Mettaton's kind of town. Since he stepped foot on its foreign soil, he was bombarded with all the right sort of attention. Men, women, other-- they're pressing free samples into his hand and offering to continue his personal brand of MTT products (once he's made sure to wax poetic on the topic). Without Alphys around to play the stick in the mud, he's signed contract after contract, obligating himself to this, that, and the other, while not really caring to read the fine print. What does it matter? He's a star and the whole world ought to see it.

Masks of his face? Sounds beautiful, lovely!

Cups depicting an iconic, illustrative version of either leg? Divine! Inspired!

Why do other imPorts greet the attention with less enthusiasm? Are they that poorly spirited?

Well, he can change that. Mettaton's spent all of his startup money on a portable speaker and microphone with the capability to hook up through it with a thick, black wire. A little unsightly, but it will do the job. Now he stands in a very central location that others might consider, you know. A pedestrian walkway. A 'sidewalk' if you will. He does not give a shit.]

A cobbled pathway leads pedestrians around gazebos perfect for nature-watching, a dazzling fountain of carved stone that bubbles with sparkling water, and numerous flowerbeds all ablaze in the colors of autumn.

Beneath the long arms of a very tall tree with leaves like burnished gold sits Yuri Petrov—curator, judge, and vigilante—alone in repose, his attention divided between his rather sublime surroundings and the very plain file folder open in his lap...

How much time has passed since he held a file of its likeness, he wonders? In this world's time, more than half a year at least, and yet for him it feels like just yesterday.

Yesterday when he'd been hunted by the imPort populace, beaten into submission and captured. Yesterday when he'd been imprisoned, held behind bars and his powers dampened so that he might not escape. Yesterday when he'd been made to live behind cold stone walls like the sinners he'd vowed to exterminate, and yesterday when...

When the explosions had torn apart the prison and claimed his life in the process. He recalls nothing after that because there is nothing to recall. Only new memories of his own world: of Heroes having retired and then returned to Heroing, of crime still being on the rise, and a need for Lunatic still being prevalent.

But for all the similarities between Sternbild and the imPort cities of this world, Yuri faces one problem here that he didn't have to face back home: his revealed identity.

How many are left that remember him? And of those that are left, how many will make nuisances of themselves?

Only time will tell.]

[The scene is one of complete chaos.

In the aloof city of Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania, at a four-way stop in a downtown neighborhood populated by smaller family-owned businesses, a moving van lies on its side just a few feet away from where it had knocked over a telephone pole. Of the pole itself, there is of course no sign. The driver of the van is disoriented but safe, sitting with paramedics on the sidelines and explaining to police what had happened. He'd made as quick a turn as he could when a child had suddenly pulled away from his mother and chased his ball onto the road...

Across the way, more officers question other witnesses about what happened. A group of teenagers who are too busy trying to conceal their underage smoking from the police to accurately recount events aren't much help, but a gangling youth who'd been walking his dog excitedly tells officers all about the 'fire man' who saved his life.

That's why there's no more pole! the lad chirps, his dog barking as if to confirm that very statement. When it fell our way, the fire man burned it up and saved me and Max! The fire man's a hero!

A hero...

Hurriedly, Yuri finds himself walking away from those words. There had been no signs of other Heroes in the area at the time, and if he hadn't acted, the child and his dog might have both been gravely injured. Or worse. That didn't make Yuri Petrov a hero. It meant only that his demons remained on their leash, that in the end, he was more man than monster.

Rumor might eventually tell a different story, of course...and he would need to prepare himself for that.]

[There's a picturesque little park just a stone's throw from the imPort housing block Will regularly walks his dogs around. On the days he doesn't have any fluffy companions at his side, his feet automatically walk him in the same direction. Unless he has somewhere to be, and quickly, he doesn't mind taking the same path. There is routine, structure, and he can appreciate that. Especially now, when all the stability he had formed had been revealed to be wholly inadequate.

He's familiar with the other regulars like him, for the most part. The joggers who seem to always match in the way they don't, fashion-wise, but are in step and in tune with each other completely. The ones who come and go, who don't sit and stay. He hasn't spent much time observing those inside it, though a few faces he could easily pick out of a crowd. If they'd put the binoculars down and stop chasing tail feathers long enough, at any rate.

He glances in as he walks around, not at all surprised to find a pair of speedwalkers gabbing loudly about grandchildren. Not surprised to see a pair of squirrels bouncing about.

Alarmed into stillness when he catches sight of once familiar hair. Stopped midstep because surely he's not seeing who he thinks he's seeing. He just needs to breathe, blink, clear his head. A trick of the light, undoubtedly.

Or not.

The nuisance that Will Graham may one day later prove to be isn't much of a nuisance now. He doesn't keep going and slide around from behind, he doesn't conceal himself at all. He crosses with special attention given large, crunchy leaves, coming from where he can be easily seen if Yuri looks forward. Giving him motion and noise to draw his attention, there is no hiding right now. Yuri may notice he's aged a few years and he carries new scars, new sins, but it's only important Yuri notice who's revealing himself with the grace of a fawn taking his first steps.]

Are you going to want your plants back?

[He comes to a halt far enough away he's not invading bubbles but close enough so he doesn't have to raise his voice. A steady gait ended at a mental X, hands stuffed into his pant pockets. And throughout the whole performance, one could call it, Will seems entirely relaxed. Revisiting an old flame isn't anything to be afraid of.]

[ so Gwen doesn't love that the place ( the Porter, specifically ) waited until she started to get her shit together back in her own world before bringing her here, that it waited until she was trying to figure out how the hell the Lizard was running around the city again when she knew ( thought ) that was impossible, but she's not about to make a fuss about it. ..well, not anymore. she already fussed. she's good now. she's over it. mostly. anyway! things back home might not've been perfect, but they were getting better. she was figuring it out. but now she's here in this messed up world that knows all about her secret identity because it's apparently full of superheroes that have powers just as insane as her own ( she doesn't hate that part, actually ) with no way back, and, as stated, she's pretty damn annoyed by it. she's also a little cheesed that it decided bringing her over without her backpack, or even just her phone, and while she was wearing her own band's shirt was a good idea. because listen, she's glad to be back in the band, she's seriously glad for that, but it's never a good first impression if somebody asks "who are The Mary Janes?" and she has to find a tactful way to respond with "oh, it's just a band I'm in. I'm the drummed. we're pretty popular back in my world!!" yeah, no.

but she can't say she's annoyed by all the free food and the generally positive reception she's gotten since her arrival. it beats having people see her casually webslinging from one roof to another, and shrieking horribly like she might try to murder them, at least, yeah. for sure. and the best part so far? corndogs for daaaaays!

she's on her third one now as she wanders around the town, seemingly unfazed by how busy the shops or crowded the streets are. she grew up in NYC, alright, it's not like this is any worse. and it's easy to seem casual about all the looking around she's doing when she's just so damn pleased to be eating a free corndog. for the third time. but really, she's scoping things out. nothing too sneaky or hyperaware, but she's taking it all in. and maybe trying to scope out where she can get yet another free corndog. she has amazing priorities, okay.

and then, in true test drive meme fashion, because she's not paying attention to where she's walking at all, she bumps right into you! total shoulder collision. or maybe she cut somebody off while walking across from them. eh. you know the drill. awkward stumbling is happening. but without the stumbling, because she's got the whole.. super great coordination thing. and if you almost dropped something? she totally caught it for you before it hit the ground, and she's holding it out for you to take back ]

[This is a lot to take in. How did they wind up in such a big city? Frisk remembers seeing the sunrise with everyone after breaking the barrier, and then... nothing. They furrowed their brows as they studied the folder they were given. Unfortunately, being such a tiny kid, people don't notice them as they walk past.

Frisk gasps quietly as they're bumped into, and they drop their file. An ill-timed breeze further scatters the papers, leaving the small child scrambling to retrieve them. Lend them some help?]

[Though adults tended to leave Frisk alone, the children of De Chima loved to crowd around Frisk, in awe of having an imPort the same age as them. Of course, with excitable children comes wave after waves of questions, and Frisk can't even hope to answer them all. It's a little nerve-wracking to be in the center of so much attention, if Frisk had to be honest, but it would be good training for their role as ambassador for all monsters.

Half an hour passes before Frisk manages to calm the children down to a manageable degree, and while some children drifted off after finding in dismay that Frisk did not speak, others stuck around to continue questioning Frisk, who answered the questions patiently and to the best of their ability.

All in all, it's pretty impressive for a young child, isn't it?]

01 - Charlie had sat through the explanation, well, fidgeted really, and let them lead her outside, if only because she was trying to figure out what their game was. This wasn't the first time she'd woken up in a weird place, though admittedly last time had been way more violent and horrible. This time almost seemed kind of...lame? For a bunch of inter dimensional kidnappers they were awfully stuffy.

Still, once she'd gotten outside she'd flipped through the papers they'd given her, nothing new here except that they knew who she was and what her powers were (oh she was so grounded). And then, with a frustrated noise and a sudden burst of bubble-gum pink light and smoke, she vanished.

Only to reappear thirty seconds later, frowning at whoever happened to be nearby.

"Okay. No Metropolis? That's so weird."

03 - She'd at least thought to put her costume on before she went out this time, totally not so that everyone would want her autograph, but because it was the smart thing to do! Secret identity and all.

It was totally for the autographs.

And she was hamming it up for the kids, really. Ridiculous poses, shouting her catch phrase, even pretending to beat people up for selfies. She was pretty sure that if Babs was here, she was going to get lectured for a week, but hell, why not have a little fun?

05 - Someone has handed Charlie a pumpkin-spice latte. This was not a good idea, and the teen was basically vibrating in place and smiling like a complete idiot. At the moment, she'd been approached by two somewhat drab people who were trying to recruit her into being an imPort spokesgirl for their Stay In School And Be Cool campaign.

Oh the poor fools.

"Wait why would I stay in school school totally sucks." A beat. "Is somebody going to make me go?" The two looked suitably displeased and stalked off, and Charlie turned to point at the nearest person going by.

"Hey, you, do they make imports go to school? Is that a thing? Do I have to go?"

[When Mike was six he dressed as superman for Halloween. This was the first conscious Halloween costume he recalled wearing and he also recalled someone grabbing his cape and using that to stop him before stealing his candy. Next year - Captain America. Why? Shields are awesome to hit people with.

Pretending to be a hero was fun.

Actually being a hero turned out to be a lot more work. It turned out to be terrifyingly difficult. He still woke up screaming.

But he's got powers here, and he's supposed to set an example and hey maybe this girl gets it (a bit young, but y'know) so might as well ask.]

...So you must be a big name hero. All these people taking pictures of ya.

Robo didn't like being pushed around, especially not by a bureaucracy, but these folks were just so gently insistent that he had trouble getting a word in edgewise. Eventually he managed it as everyone took a step back from him. He leaned towards one of scientists and pointed an accusing finger at her.

"Now just a second, buddy. Before we get any further I have some questions I w-" And then he was standing underneath the open sky of, at his best guess, Florida. "-ant answered... Woah."

He staggered a step, looking around wildly. "Okay did they ACTUALLY manage to make practical, every day teleportation? Maybe I WILL stick around for a while."

Just long enough to make his own copy of the teleporter, at least.

Giving autographs was nothing new for Atomic Robo, but here on this world there was no ninety year history of him doing stuff. Which begged the question:

"Do you even know who I am, kid?"

"...What the heck, that's not the worst reason I've had to sign something."

Robo watched with a bemused air about him as the boy ran off, excited to show his new trophy to his friends at school. He turned to YOU, fellow import, to shrug and say "Kids, right?"

Eventually, everyone has to accept the inevitable: You are stuck here for now, and might as well stop beating your head on the wall and get on with living. Thus, the Mask or Menace branch of Tesladyne Industries finally opened for business. Robo scraped together enough funds to rent an office in Nonah. It's no Empire State Building Suite and certainly no abandoned Titan Missile Base, but it's a start.

Tesladyne's purpose seems to be providing support to researchers of all kinds who have taken a step beyond the very cutting edge of science. Some people call them mad scientists, but Atomic Robo himself, at least, has gathered a bit of a reputation as being a dependable person to go to for dealing with the unexplained.

SO, if you happen to be the type who might reply to an advertisement looking for "action scientists" who are open minded about stepping beyond conventional wisdom and getting into some really weird stuff, maybe Tesladyne is a place you should check out. You should think about it, at least. He's holding job interviews.

And sprouting mechanical spider legs.

To the triumphant tunes of PUMPKIN SPICE SPICE LATTE (too bold! too bold!) it rears up, spearlike metal legs digging gouges into the asphalt as it strides into traffic.

On top of it, a tiny, green figure begins to screech over the music.]

[ Here's a riddle, masks and menaces: What looks like a wolf, smells like a wolf (for the most part- it also smells like wood smoke and something-not-quite-right), but is not a wolf?

The answer is, a wolf that happens to actually be a Summon, a creature made out of magic. It's massive, nearly four feet at the shoulder, and pitch black with luminous yellow eyes. It's also padding right towards you. It doesn't seem to want to attack you, but there's something intent in its gaze. Something that suggests intelligence.

Before it can get too close, however, Jacob rounds the corner. His eyes fall on the creature and he sighs. ] I told you to stop frightening the locals.

She spent all of her life in East Berlin until recently, after all, and while there are naturally many differences, some things stay the same. Earning the scorn and disdainful gaze of the law enforcement, for one, although these officers are nothing to be feared compared to Soviet troops. Which is why she strides past them with an unwavering aura, not even sparing them the courtesy of eye contact through her sunglasses. But at the stranger who speaks up and asks a question, she'll pull the frames down, peering over at him. ]

[ Although the way she commanded her walk just now made it seem an awful lot like she knows what she's doing, oh well. ]

[ This was a place he belonged; rather, as a spirit of empathy, he was drawn to it. Called, almost. There's a tenseness in this place, unrest, and he can feel it pulling in the air at him. He wants to unravel the bad feelings, calm them and soothe them.

Cole is always silent - a natural talent by virtue of being both a rogue and not exactly a human - and he weaves between the people. Reading, listening. He reaches out to gently touch the air, as if he's physically feeling for the negative emotions; a thread guiding him.

This is his power, after all. An emotional bandaid. It's what he wants to do, exists to do. His voice is soft, murmuring kind words to citizens who seem upset; however, they look at him blank and confused. This weird, pale, creepy kid sulking around commenting on their inner feelings would make anyone uncomfortable. ]

Don't be afraid.

Kaldur has literally never cut an inconspicuous figure on the surface world. Even when he was merely the quiet, contemplative pupil and tagalong of his King, he stood taller than other boys his age, with gills and webbed fingers and strangely colored hair and eyes. Not the most outlandish looking among the extra-human population on Earth, granted, but still an oddity in the streets.

Here and now, in a hulking suit of technologically advanced armor, with a wide-set diving helmet and glowing red eyes, he looks... well, honestly pretty silly, trudging through the heinous heat. Especially considering the nearest body of water is, according to the welcoming committee, approximately a twenty minute drive away. Frankly, it's difficult to be intimidating while simultaneously sweating hard enough to drown on land, in a suit designed to keep his human father warm enough to survive the depths of the ocean. He endures, of course. Manfully. Stoically. With just a splash of his old martyrdom (suffering in silence is not a hobby, for him. It's a lifestyle choice.)

But he is not without some pragmatism, so after trying and failing for some time to contact his father's men or any of his father's allies through his suit's communication devices, he acquiesces to his particular physiological shortcomings and accepts an offer for a free drink from a local shop owner. That is how the afternoon finds him sitting at a local cafe with the Manta helmet upended on the small outdoor table in front of him, sipping on an icy lemonade like he doesn't paint an absolutely ridiculous picture and his world hasn't just been turned 50 different kinds of upside-down.

Kaldur'ahm, the son of Black Manta, the man who abandoned the mantle of Aqualad and committed a hundred atrocities to earn himself a place in the Light... struggles mightily with the urge to be sheepish and polite in the face an onslaught of civilian enthusiasm. He has long since beaten the urge to display compassion and kindness out of himself, but he has kept company exclusively with criminals and those that he has joined those criminals in victimizing for two long years. He has seen fear and loathing and shattered hope in the faces of men and women for so long that he has utterly forgotten what it is to be looked upon and called a hero.

It makes him dangerously nostalgic for the days when he didn't make himself nauseous. When he could face a mirror.

But those days are gone, and he has a Mission, and maybe that mission has gone a little belly up in the last 24 hours but he's still holding on for lack any better ideas. (Also to stave off the panic that will probably settle in soon.) So when the first offer of a job comes flying at him from a short man with a round belly and a wide grin, he almost trips over himself before forcing out a firm, derisive, "No."

Then comes the request to advocate for children to stay away from drugs. Then someone thinks he could be the next face of Squirt Guns Galore. His "no"s turn into "Be gone!"s, and "Out of my way"s (though he has nowhere to actually go) and a warning laser that puts a crack in the sidewalk next to an excessively friendly saleswoman's feet.

There are a disturbing number of local costume shop owners that are convinced his submersible armor would make a great Halloween mask design, as well.

[It's been two years, but there's no way Kaldur's forgotten the distinct sound of a speedster dodging through a crowd he shouldn't. The too-quick footsteps, the indignant yelps of the casualties of impatience, the half-sincere "Sorry!" that follows after. Not that Wally is much in the habit of apologizing for bashing into his teammates, the punk.

He's going pretty fast when he darts past Kaldur's table, but that eye-searing yellow and red is unmistakable, if the voice didn't give it away. That was definitely Kid Flash who just zoomed by.

Kid, for his part, sees a lot of what he does while running as still images. It takes him a second -so almost a full mile- to realize who he'd just run past and he's already circling the block to come up behind him again.]

[Hugs are not usually Kaldur's choice greeting (speedster hugs in particular tend to be too hot and sweaty) but KF is throwing his arms around Kaldur's neck anyway and pulling him into a half-headlock, half-hug.] Dude- DUDE! I thought you'd NEVER come here, what the heck?!

03. A De Chima grocery store
[ Ah, autumn. What a shit season. Colin Greenmantle has never had good luck in the autumn. Seems like bullshit, right? It seems like, ooh, spooky ghosts, magical witchcraft season, All Hallow's Eve, Dia de los Appropriation Of Mexican Culture By Youths Wanting To Get Drunk On The Second Of November, all that should lead to extra eagerness of things to be found. Magic poking up from the ground. But no, nothing. Things come down the line in summer, a steady stream, but then September hits and the stream dries into a trickle. It just dries up. ]

Maybe it's my henchmen who should dry up. Eh? Eh, get it?

[ That part is addressed to the pumpkin that Colin Greenmantle is carving. He has not bought a pumpkin. He has not bought a knife, either. Rather, he has gone up to the display in front of a grocery store, and selected their handsomest pumpkin, and he has opened up one of the plastic-wrapped carving safety knives, and he is laying into the gourd. He is doing a beautiful job, which is to say that he is doing a job beautifully, which is to say he is handsome while he is shittily hacking this pumpkin into pieces. He didn't take the seeds out beforehand, so they're just sort of soggily going everywhere. Someone's going to have to clean that up.

He drops the knife and starts walking away, whistling jauntily.

Autumn's a shit season, and he is in a shitty mood that he's been brought here right now, when things were getting interesting. He wonders who did it. He wonders what's going to have to be done to them. ("Have to." Yeah, that sounds good, he sounds noble and put-upon when he thinks of it as something he "has to" do.) He wonders where his dear Piper is, and wonders if she is terribly worried for him. She is probably not. No, she is definitely not. Okay, he wonders if she is terribly irritated at him.

Oh, shit, pumpkin spice lattes, though, right? He's going to drink the hell out of one of those. ]

He isn't particularly bothered by anyone stepping away from him, more bothered by anyone who gets too close. He's never experienced a malt before. He just knows he really shouldn't drink one. So looking at the broad menu overhead, he gives the man working a gentle smile (his version of gentle, that is), and chuckles, declining with a simple:]

I do not sup...malts.

[Hanging out in Florida heat in full suit and top hat and cane regalia, however, is totally okay.]

[Virginia is for lovers, the place must be crawling in vampires, right? Doesn't matter, Dracula has always held a completely healthy interest in the modern world and all its marvels. So of course that's where he heads to, and when he finds a seemingly overworked man (as if there is such a thing, really, one cannot work too hard, it is a myth) ready to give up on a busted light just outside his store. Rather than introduce himself, he takes a moment to pull off his glove, see if these powers are of any use, and reaches up to barely touch the open sign—which flickers on in bright, neon colors that seem to amaze the guy who just ~magically~ put them back into life. Do you think they had neon open signs in 1897??? Give him a break. But it gets him a new friend and there he is, in all his...1897 vintage clothing...introducing himself and commanding quite the presence of the small crowd that has come out from inside the eatery. Probably easy for imPorts to recognize one of their own when he's made it so obvious, and he does have lots of charm. Charisma. Smiles, smiles, smiles...and my oh my, those teeth are distracting. A bit too pointed, but maybe it's just a trick of the light?]

He went from the unbearable swamp heat of New Orleans to the unbearable swamp heat of Florida, how wonderful. The Brat Prince is certainly living up to his epithet as he is complaining like fuck and just grousing to anyone who will listen. And this person who's wearing that tugs on his nostalgia looks like the person who's gonna get his bitching and moaning FULL FORCE.

It might be dark enough that he's not gonna catch on fire (we're not at Queen of the Damned yet, after all) but Lestat can pick out clothing from a different era in a heartbeat. However, he cannot pick out the fact that Dracula is a vampire, partly because he's never that observant in the first place and also he is still PERSONALLY OFFENDED that the government brought him here in the first place to 'be a hero'—how mindnumbingly idealistic of them. So, he walks up to Dracula who's politely declined a malt. The two look a bizarre pair. Dracula's fake 1800s, Lestat's just bleeding the 1990s because why the hell not, let's use Vampire Lestat as a canonpoint for the test drive. ]

I wouldn't touch those even if you did drink them. Supposedly they'll rot your teeth out.

[So it's pretty terrifying, getting suddenly pulled into a brand new universe all alone without anything or anyone familiar by your side, but that hasn't quite sunk in just yet. She's a little starstruck by everything that's happened within the course of the last couple hours. There were real superheroes here, and even she has her own powers! It's just like the magical girls in her manga, and that's not even getting into the flying cars. Everything in futuresque America is so incredible and fantastic that Honoka's a bit too excited to be homesick just yet, though she wishes her friends were here to experience it all with her.

So when she discovers the malt shop offering free drinks, she's all too happy to partake. Perhaps a little too happy, even...because at the rate she's going, she is definitely on an express train to stomachache city. Someone should probably stop her (too bad Umi isn't here), but in the absence of any responsible adult figures, she'll just be grabbing any hapless passerby by the arm, and chirping in their ear--]

Ne, ne, have you tried the drinks here?? They're sooooo yummy, let me get you one!!!

[Of course, her curiosity doesn't allow her to hang around just in Heropa alone; she absolutely has to check out those Porters...!

This may or may not have been a mistake. Or at least, Maurtia Falls might have been. People are a lot less friendly here than Nonah or even Heropa, and they mostly ignore her when she asks questions and bump into her in the street without apology. Which....makes her a little huffy, but!! She soldiers on, because there's a lot more to see, especially if she wants to tell Kotori-chan and Umi-chan about everything later (because obviously she's not going to be here forever, that's just silly).

And aside from the general rudeness of the locals, it goes mostly without incident....until she stumbles upon an Incident. She doesn't know what happened, but she hears yelling and pushing, and all of a sudden someone's pulled a knife. She lets out a little gasp, covering her mouth with both hands, and she thinks maybe she should run for help, before she remembers her file, and what it said she could do. She's a superhero now, isn't she?? Maybe she can...

Before she has time to talk herself out of it, she closes her eyes and just starts singing, the song from Muse's first concert with Kotori and Umi. And when she's done...the small crowd has calmed down. The weapon is gone, put away it would seem. One of them even mutters a reluctant apology, and they slowly scatter.

For her part, Honoka just stands there, a little stunned. Did she really just do that? She almost can't believe it.]

Linca's a fairly slight girl, but she can pack away food like a cartoon character. She's also discovered the free drinks, naturally, because she's really good at finding food. It's part of her training as a swordswoman. Something like that.

She's sitting at a table in the corner, and the other patrons are kind of... staring. It might be the stack of empty dishes beside her current one, but it might also be the enormous broadsword she's balanced carefully in the corner, standing up against the wall.

Suddenly there's a girl in her face, and she blinks up. Maybe about Lucille's age, she muses, and then she nods.]

Certainly. They're quite good! I'm glad to find good cooks here, so far from home.

[She's glad not only because it means she gets to eat but also because she's terrible at cooking.]
