No idea, Jack says, and Will feels as if he could expel all of the breath in his lungs in one fell swoop, he's that relieved. He doesn't, though, just nods tightly. If someone as sane as Jack is as confused as he is, then he can relax, if only slightly.
When Jack suggests that they go through this together, Will nods. He can't claim that Jack has protected him nearly as well as he'd claimed he would when this all started, but in a situation like this Will plans to stay at his side. Jack's going to have a much easier time wading through all of this than Will. He's got that level of stability, that grounded nature that Will himself has never achieved.
Before Will knows it, they're being led to a car by a soldier who looks happy to see them. As if they're special guests. Considering they're supposedly heroes, that might make sense, but the context of this is still one big question mark.
The car starts moving and Will glances over at Jack. He slides his fingers over his own glowing tattoo. "Can't say I've ever been called hero before," he says under his breath before turning to watch the passing scenery out the window.
