"No, what we do is not simple," Jack agrees, and it's an understatement, because that was not the only thing he was pointing to. There is a difference between helping others, between extending a hand to someone and doing what is available to you, what is within your power. But if Will Graham is a serial killer (intentionally or otherwise), then he did not do what would be the most simple.
He might have done the opposite. He might have used his talents to be a villain.
