Hey no I don't understand it much either 8D

BUT UH. Recalling that log where Qubit tested his self-made Porter. First, he had the ability to make it in the first place, and is a fair bit more advanced than Hermann's own understanding (imagination) They'd believed it would work (illusion), and then it DIDN't despite the fact it should have (bewilderment) and of course, the subsequent fear that maybe they can't leave on their own. Though neither of them has said that.

I headcanon Hermann stuck around to try and help Qubit post-failure, work through the disappointment and trade theories, and remains one of the strongest personal interactions he's had with him.

Yeah, Qubit would have been pretty clearly shaken up as the gate was failing. Like, first getting all frantic and agitated trying to get it to work, and then kinda shellshocked at it dying. And it's true that's not a side of him that comes out super often, since... usually his machines work. So Hermann would have gotten a nice little glimpse of that intellectual insecurity Qb usually hides, haha.

(Qb would definitely appreciate Hermann sticking around though. They'd both know he didn't have to ;u;)
