THE MISTLETOE MEME

It was a quiet moment in the imPort cities, when the next devious plot of an unknown organization was realized. With the holiday season upon all the town, bundles of mistletoe with interference technology hidden in the festive bows and pins holding them together was distributed throughout the town and into all the residences of the imPorts.

The interference technology creates a stasis field keeping imPorts trapped underneath it, protecting the mistletoe itself with a small barrier. However, it only seems able to hold two people at a time, and and the reaction of the nanites to sudden changes in chemistry brought on by embracing or kissing brings the stasis field crashing down, leaving the mistletoe vulnerable to destruction at that time.

It's up to you, imPorts, to break free of these mistletoe traps and destroy all the mistletoe in the cities!

[He moves to step out of Francis' way and bumps into something invisible and cold, and hard as a rock.]

[He kind of is, he's very confused. His eyes flick up and he frowns at the mistletoe, slumping a little.]

[ He frowns in confusion. ] What?

[Riku slaps the wall behind him, which makes a strange reverberating sound.]

Obviously we have to do something to fix this.

Right, but that's not something I have experience with.

Me either. But that right there is our only clue, isn't it?

[He jerks a thumb up at the mistletoe.]

Mistletoe?

[resipiscent]

... Yeah.

I feel like we're going around in circles. Just say what you're thinking would you?

[Riku blinks -- he didn't consider that.]

Well... we don't have any tools, and I don't think that either of us have a power that would let us pass through the barrier. So our one clue about what to do is that up there, isn't it? Seems to me we're meant to... y'know. Exchange gestures of affection.

[He drops his face into his hand after a moment -- good, just use the most awkward way to describe that ever, why don't you? Just make it even more awkward. Good going, Riku.]

Oh. [ He quickly steps to kiss him on the forehead. A fatherly gesture that's he's reasonably comfortable with and relatively quick. ] Is that it?

[Riku's startled, but it's better than dying inside an invisible bubble. He had the other hand pressed against the wall and suddenly there's nothing behind his hand. He turns, reaching out to pass his hand through the space.
