surprisingly not as bitter as expected. but there's less to be jealous and inadequate about, too. she's done a lot to work through the problems she and karkat had last time we had one of these memes, and one of the things that came out of that is realizing how little she really doesn't know ruka. she mostly only knows how karkat feels about her, what he says and what he hints at.

and there are things there that she can relate to, even sympathize with, she hadn't really considered most of the negative consequences of eridan being gone beyond the alien loneliness until that whole blowout, what it might mean to someone he actually mattered to, mind-boggling as that idea may still be. she thinks she's probably stupid emotionally, but pot and kettle.

and she doesn't know her, but she might be able to understand her if she tried. not that she's really inclined to that, she still pretty much has accepted ruka as someone she'll probably never get along with, given the few times they have interacted. she takes for granted that ruka doesn't really care for her, while knowing ruka probably knows her just as well as she knows ruka.

it's a bit tragic when you think about it like that, but that isn't about to change it. they matter to each other because they matter to karkat, and trying to work out just who that person he cares so much about is just doesn't seem worth the effort.

Clearly they need the "Stranded At The [X] Alone Together" episode to work together and get to know one another as they are, like, as individuals, instead of as accessories to other people.
