HE TOLD ME SEVERAL TIMES THAT HE DIDN'T LIKE MY KIND

TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!
Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at someone else's thread, either!
And remember to have fun!01. The city of Heropa is what one might expect from a small, bright and cheery place, where locals are friendly enough and local shop owners might offer a free drink to welcome you to their fair city. Some of the locals might thank you for always lending your service to the nation and others might not say anything. In fact, some people might back away from any imPort who quite obviously looks like they aren't from around the neighborhood. Once in a while there's a look of disdain on someone's face and hushed voices.
An upset, deeply masculine voice wonders aloud: "More of them, when we already know they can't protect us? That's just painting a bigger target on the city's back!"
"That's just what Ronald Chump says!" Exclaims a young woman. She raises her fist in anger at the imPort-hating individual. "We're not going to tolerate bigots here!"
02. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, and though it's quieter, there are just as many citizens awed at your presence. Science and technology are the lifeblood of this city, so you're likely to come across a good many locals taking your picture with the newest of devices. Be forewarned: since FanPort happened, imPort fandom is at a new height. Don't be surprised if people start following you just to see if you'll do anything TMZ-worthy.
The trick is to stay calm, and don't wig out if someone asks what you think about imPort shipping.
03. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania, is having a rainy day. The streets seem to be running with water, the sky can't seem to stop crying. You might want to check out some consumerism-inclined shelter, be that a smoky and dart-eyed bar full of grumbling locals, or a grimy and industrial coffee shop (full of grumbling locals). Watch your step, newly minted imPort, because if you let on that you're fresh meat then you're likely to attract a posse of two or three sharp knuckled no-good-dooers. This is the criminally exciting part of town, so beware.
04. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities; loud, busy and there's some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. There's a baseball game going on in one of the parks amidst all those tall buildings, and you're welcome to watch! It's not an official game in the season, it's more like a friendly skirmish between local baseball teams. Midway through the game, the umpire might take note of you new imPorts -- assuming you're standing out in the crowd. He'll welcome you to throw a pitch if you'd like! Of course, the opposing team isn't too keen on the idea. Better look for more imPorts to play ball!

He lowered the picture and shifted his free hand to the strap of his crossbow, as he gave the other man a longer look over before he nodded, "Yeah. You know him?"

As if that entire statement wasn't baffling enough, Lucifer offered his hand toward Daryl. "Lucifer. And you are?" But really, how very fascinating. It had occurred to him that Carl had companions, of course, but Lucifer had never had very much interest in them before. Alone, Carl was manipulable, and Lucifer had always dealt with him in a one-in-one way.

Daryl eyed the hand, still not trusting this man even if he was praising Carl's ability to survive. He shifted so his weight was on his heels and brought the hand with the picture up to join the one on the crossbow's strap. He wasn't ready to shake any hands.
"Family," he answered, not hiding his cagey suspicion. Not at all mollified by a guy who called himself Lucifer. "You know where I can find Carl?"
no subject
He took a step backward, narrowed his eyes minutely. He wasn't going to, but the man could shoot him with the crossbow; it wasn't like he was actually going to hurt him--so it didn't matter if he wound him up at all. "Anything else?"
no subject
"You gonna tell me where I can find him?" He asked, taking a step forward to close the space between them and dropping his hands, the one without a picture landing on one of his knives.
no subject
"That would depend on you, wouldn't it? A little respect wouldn't go amiss. Like I said, Carl and I have been through a special little Hell together, and I don't know you. You might be into him for all the wrong reasons."
no subject
"Carl's family," he growled, voice low, "My family. I don't care what you been through together. Me and him and the rest of our family been through hell, too. So you can fuck off with that 'special' bullshit. Just tell me where I can find him. If he says you're okay, then I'll think about that respect your expectin'."

"Your breath smells like roadkill. I suggest you get it out of my face."

When he got a confused and startled look from Daryl, he waved at him, then turned to Lucifer, "Hi, I'm with the local paper. Big fan. Can I have a quick interview? Your scouting manager over there said you were looking for new filming locations. Is this a publicity stunt for the show?"
And then a second later he grinned at Daryl: "Got the stills, okay, ready. You can start any time."
Daryl was so thrown off by that, that instead of going after Lucifer, he just looked like his entire world had been flipped upside down. Mouth hanging open a little and shoulders hunching in as he started glancing around at the now-gathered crowd. It was way too much attention all of a sudden. Seriously, what the fuck was wrong with these people?

He cocked his shoulder and pointed to a tree on the other side of the road.
"Everyone standing in the shade of that tree in five minutes gets interviews and autographs. Chop chop."
He clapped his hands hard, and the onlookers quickly dispersed, dashing to the other side of the road to get their spot. The tree wasn't that big, so there was a lot of jostling for position going on.
"Okay, now, where were we? Ah yes, with a lesson in politeness--I'm Lucifer," he repeated, patiently, "And you are?"

At the question and the renewed attempt at conversation, Daryl's glare came back full force, though he obviously still felt some disquiet from the interrupted confrontation. All the people watching them. Watching him. Their expectation and curiosity, he could feel their eyes on him from all angle and he didn't like it one bit.
"None'a your business," he grumbled, voice low and further betraying his discomfort. A pause for breath before he curled his lip and turned around to walk off, lifting a middle finger up over his shoulder as his 'goodbye'. The son of a bitch wasn't worth it right now. He'd find someone else that knew where Carl or Enid was.
Unknown, and unseen by him, the wings on the back of his vest flexed a bit, like they were trying to break free of the leather and cloth. A couple feathers even fluttered down and away in his wake.
