HE TOLD ME SEVERAL TIMES THAT HE DIDN'T LIKE MY KIND

TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!

Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at someone else's thread, either!

And remember to have fun!

    01. The city of Heropa is what one might expect from a small, bright and cheery place, where locals are friendly enough and local shop owners might offer a free drink to welcome you to their fair city. Some of the locals might thank you for always lending your service to the nation and others might not say anything. In fact, some people might back away from any imPort who quite obviously looks like they aren't from around the neighborhood. Once in a while there's a look of disdain on someone's face and hushed voices.

An upset, deeply masculine voice wonders aloud: "More of them, when we already know they can't protect us? That's just painting a bigger target on the city's back!"

"That's just what Ronald Chump says!" Exclaims a young woman. She raises her fist in anger at the imPort-hating individual. "We're not going to tolerate bigots here!"

    02. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, and though it's quieter, there are just as many citizens awed at your presence. Science and technology are the lifeblood of this city, so you're likely to come across a good many locals taking your picture with the newest of devices. Be forewarned: since FanPort happened, imPort fandom is at a new height. Don't be surprised if people start following you just to see if you'll do anything TMZ-worthy.

The trick is to stay calm, and don't wig out if someone asks what you think about imPort shipping.

    03. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania, is having a rainy day. The streets seem to be running with water, the sky can't seem to stop crying. You might want to check out some consumerism-inclined shelter, be that a smoky and dart-eyed bar full of grumbling locals, or a grimy and industrial coffee shop (full of grumbling locals). Watch your step, newly minted imPort, because if you let on that you're fresh meat then you're likely to attract a posse of two or three sharp knuckled no-good-dooers. This is the criminally exciting part of town, so beware.

    04. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities; loud, busy and there's some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. There's a baseball game going on in one of the parks amidst all those tall buildings, and you're welcome to watch! It's not an official game in the season, it's more like a friendly skirmish between local baseball teams. Midway through the game, the umpire might take note of you new imPorts -- assuming you're standing out in the crowd. He'll welcome you to throw a pitch if you'd like! Of course, the opposing team isn't too keen on the idea. Better look for more imPorts to play ball!

Lead the way? He didn't know the way to the offi- oh. To Rick. Yeah. He could do that.

Daryl stepped out so he was slightly in front of her, but still off to her side so she could watch him. Wasn't so bad now that she was letting him hold onto Judith.

"Yeah, that's right, rev that engine," Daryl laughed at the noise Judith made, imitating it back at her before her attention is drawn by other sights. Every time she made a new noise while pointing, Daryl repeated the sound back to her, then said it's actual name and the noise again. Often times the noise Judith made was a partial sound of the word or noises associated with it. And Daryl wanted to encourage her to keep talking and learning. Repeating it back just confirmed she was right.

He took his time walking along the streets, not to Xavier's, but to the Mall that Rick worked at. He made no effort to rush, so when Judith pointed to a store front or spotted a toy that caught her attention for more than a few seconds, he detoured to it and let her have some time looking at it. Quietly explained what it was. Didn't matter if she couldn't understand him yet, that was how she'd learn. Eventually. For now, though, it just let her know he was listening and interested in her.

"Oh you like that one?" he asked as she pressed a hand against the glass of a window display. "You want to get it? Can't just grab it anymore, you know. Gotta actually pay for things now."

Back in their world, a quick break of the glass, a check for walkers, and the toy would be hers. Here? Well, money was actually a thing again. Daryl turned his attention to the case worker, "Gonna get Lil'Asskicker here that toy real quick. Won't be but a minute."

Once again the social worker doesn't have much a chance to get a word in as before she knows it Daryl's carrying her charge into the store.

Judith's head raises up a little from his chest at all the colors that come into view as they enter. Her eyes widen and her expression glows in surprise to just how much there is inside than out. Of course never in her life has she seen so much color and toys.

And so she babbles right back at Daryl and whatever said in obvious excitement! But she mostly focuses on keeping her eyes on the toy she initially pointed at in the window, her body turned whichever way needed to keep her eyes on it.

Only when they get closer, does she start bouncing in his arms and pointing at it again as if to say that's the one! that's it! The prettiest toy she's ever seen.

That wasn't the ugliest toy he'd ever seen, but it sure weren't pretty. Michonne would probably like it, though. Couldn't really be surprised Judith did, it was so colorful. And it had a ton of textures for her to play with and explore.

"This one, huh?" he asked even as he picked it up and waved it at her. Kept it out of her hands, though. "Gotta pay for it first. Give me a second."

Daryl set it down on the counter and Judith got put on there right next to it with a quick kiss to her forehead while he dug his wallet out. A short assurance that the toy was all he was buying and no, he didn't need a bag later and he picked her back up. Got her settled. The toy was hers.

As he left the store he grinned at the case worker, "Ugly ain't it?"
