Toby! I absolutely adore the way you play Toby. I love that he's clearly a sweet, good-hearted guy, and yet you're always very conscious to also give fair game to the less charming aspects of him - his passive-aggression, his willingness to exploit the people around him, and his possessiveness. You make him a really interesting and complex character. It's really great.
Thank you! Sometimes I worry about Toby perhaps seeming too nice, especially after the CODG Xmas special at the end of last year. But the fact you mention those specific aspects assures me that I'm playing them out right. I really appreciate it!
Man, you're the best. Like, I gush about our CR at every opportunity and I've written like fifty billion paragraphs during other love memes so I'm just gonna say all of what I normally say which is YOU'RE WONDERFUL and YOU'RE AMAZING and I NEVER THOUGHT ANYBODY WOULD PLAY TOBY and YOU'RE THE BEST and all of those are 100% true. Time zones shall not defeat our love.
I have really loved all the threads with Toby. You put so much thought into his tags and introspection that it's always a delight to read them! Raina and Toby's CR has been incredible, BUT we also absolutely must have Baelish and Toby meet since Baelish has taken an interest in Dorian. :]]
I would be delighted to get some things rolling between Baelish and Toby. But I also know you're going on hiatus, so whenever you're ready, I'm game. XD
I'm so glad that Toby and Junseo have been slowly developing CR, even if it's sort of all over the place thanks to various plots and situations. I am excited to see where it goes too in the future. Toby is a delight, and I love reading his threads and thoughts about Jinseok. SORRY ABOUT WHAT JUNSEO'S BOYFRIEND DID TO YOU, MAN. IT'S VERY FUN TO READ THOUGH.
Toby is STILL wondering why he feels that way about Junseo's boyfriend because his feelings are weird and inexplicable. I, on the other hand, am so not sorry for Toby and his reactions.
I'm also enjoying their developing CR even though it is all over the place and not really planned out, but I also think it's kinda in keeping with the "normalcy" of their lives. It's natural for them in its spontaneity.
Not only did I really enjoy Jaocb's first meeting with Toby, but I've also been impressed with what I've seen of the fledgeling saga as I've stalked it from afar! Going the extra mile with a vampire character and creating vampire NPCs is a really interesting move, and it has generated great drama for the game. I look forward to playing with you more!
re: Fledgelings! Since his acceptance into the game, Toby is allowed to sire up to 30 NPC natives. King and I agreed on joint-custody of the four that Toby turned within the first month of his arrival, mostly because Kanaya caught him after he'd thought he'd killed the first one. Then, King and I thought of giving the NPCs a bit of background but got sidetracked by a bunch of things. The vampire murder plot was a good way to take out the two NPCs we hadn't really fleshed out much.
I also really enjoyed Jacob's first meeting with Toby, namely because Toby initially comes off as someone too sweet, too nice, and too good for Dorian. So I'm interested in seeing Jacob and Toby get to know each other, and seeing what other facets of Toby's personality might be revealed.
as hope said, despite not knowing the canon, i do like how you don't pull your punches with toby and his flaws and nastier side. i enjoy reading his threads with dorian especially, his complexities and i always love when toby and sasha can have a civil conversation despite the awkwardness of kicking him out in the first place. :')
Yeah, I really enjoy them being civil while there's always this lingering awkwardness about having been kicked out. It's pretty clear he grudges against Laurie, but he seems to be getting more comfortable with Sasha, especially since she seems somewhat supportive of him. I do try to show that he isn't all charm and sweetness, that he does have a less pleasant side to him, and I'm glad it comes through! Thanks!
tennnnnnnnnn let me roll on in here and lay some love on your other character
