01. The city of Heropa is what one might expect from a small, bright and cheery place, where locals are friendly enough and local shop owners might offer a free drink to welcome you to their fair city. Some of the locals might thank you for always lending your service to the nation and others might not say anything. In fact, some people might back away from any imPort who quite obviously looks like they aren't from around the neighborhood. Once in a while there's a look of disdain on someone's face and hushed voices.

An upset, deeply masculine voice wonders aloud: "More of them, when we already know they can't protect us? That's just painting a bigger target on the city's back!"

"That's just what Ronald Chump says!" Exclaims a young woman. She raises her fist in anger at the imPort-hating individual. "We're not going to tolerate bigots here!"

02. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, and though it's quieter, there are just as many citizens awed at your presence. Science and technology are the lifeblood of this city, so you're likely to come across a good many locals taking your picture with the newest of devices. Be forewarned: since FanPort happened, imPort fandom is at a new height. Don't be surprised if people start following you just to see if you'll do anything TMZ-worthy.

The trick is to stay calm, and don't wig out if someone asks what you think about imPort shipping.

03. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania, is having a rainy day. The streets seem to be running with water, the sky can't seem to stop crying. You might want to check out some consumerism-inclined shelter, be that a smoky and dart-eyed bar full of grumbling locals, or a grimy and industrial coffee shop (full of grumbling locals). Watch your step, newly minted imPort, because if you let on that you're fresh meat then you're likely to attract a posse of two or three sharp knuckled no-good-dooers. This is the criminally exciting part of town, so beware.

04. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities; loud, busy and there's some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. There's a baseball game going on in one of the parks amidst all those tall buildings, and you're welcome to watch! It's not an official game in the season, it's more like a friendly skirmish between local baseball teams. Midway through the game, the umpire might take note of you new imPorts -- assuming you're standing out in the crowd. He'll welcome you to throw a pitch if you'd like! Of course, the opposing team isn't too keen on the idea. Better look for more imPorts to play ball!

[Frisk hums a little, looking down at their feet for a moment.]

...sometimes I wish I hadn't been born a human. Bein' a monster woulda been a lot easier. They don't gotta deal with Determination or nothin'.

[Shinji blinks, staying silent for a second. That's...a weird thing to say, but if it's got someone like this looking like Shinji does at any given time, then it must be a serious matter.]

How do you mean? What's wrong with determination?

[Frisk hums for another moment, and makes another SAVE before they look up at Shinji properly.]

What's a power one 'a your friends has?

[Okay that's definitely not an answer, but if Frisk doesn't want to talk about it then Shinji won't pry.]

Well, uh, if it's examples you're looking for? There's this kid on the network who can magnetize objects to him, and my best friend's a kind of. Glowy alien vampire. I usually don't go around asking people about their powers unless they want to show them off.

[Well, it's not an answer in this timeline...]

[LOADING...]

[After that little hum, Frisk straightens up and looks Shinji dead in the eye with a very serious expression.]

You just told me you know someone that can make magnets outta stuff, an' your best friend issa glowy vampire person.

[Shinji's face shows his confusion for only a second before he meets Frisk's serious look with a frown. He has a vague idea of what could have just happened.]

No, I didn't. Unless you're telling me you read my mind. Or my soul. [He's a little tired of those things happening, honestly.]

Nuh-uh. You told me, it just didn't happen now.

[* It would be a lot easier if you just told him you are a time traveler, you know.]

[Don't worry, Shinji's read enough dumb sci-fi novels to figure out what that means.]

Not now? You mean, I will tell you? Or I did? Y-you're a time traveler? [He's impressed with someone so small having such a cool power. Also, a little frightened]

[Frisk winces a little, wondering if they maybe shouldn't LOAD again, but instead nods shyly.]

Mm...mm-hmm. I don't...I don't do anythin' mean with it...promise.

But that's...that's why. Monsters don't got enough Determination to make it work.

And...it's a power you rather not have?

[To anyone else time travel might sound awesome, but Shinji Ikari is a master of looking on the downside.]

Yeah. I can understand that. It must be a heavy burden to have something that powerful.

[Frisk looks up through their bangs, and they're still for several long moments before they nod.]

[Finally, someone gets it.]

'S scary.

[Shinji slowly raises his hand, and in the most awkward attempt at a reassuring gesture ever, he pats Frisk's head. It's his first time trying to show affection to a non-alien child, and he hopes he's doing a good job of it.]

I'm sorry that you have to live with that. Still, to keep going even with that kind of power in the back of your mind? You must be very strong, Frisk.

[It might be awkward and kind of stilted, but Frisk appreciates the gesture and manages a small smile in return.]

...thank you. I'm...I guess I am, kinda.
