01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

[He sighs then, a little frustrated.] No. But don't you think it's a little...weird?

Of course I think it's weird! It's like some crazy dream, only it feels more real. Things like this don't happen.

Oh ha ha ha. [He just shifts against the wall, trying to find something to do with the pent up energy that usually gets burned off by now.] I meant the part where they want something from us but they're not saying what it is. Happen a lot?

[ Eren's wrapped up in his own thoughts enough that he doesn't notice Levi approaching from his peripherals, so when a booming voice shouts his own name, he startles to a halt. A hushed passerby whispers something involving the words "that guy again" to whomever was beside them, but Eren doesn't catch it, instead craning his chin over his shoulder. ]

... !

[ Now there was a person Eren didn't expect to come across, shown by the undeniable surprise on his face. Yet in the next moment, the surprise fades into relief; despite Levi's reputation wherever they may be, to Eren, he was nothing less than a sight for sore eyes. ]

Captain. [ Eren keeps his voice surprisingly neutral as he turns toward Levi and straightens his demeanor. The "you're here?" he very nearly voices, for now, goes unsaid. ]

No. I also don't really like the idea of working for the military some place I have no idea what the military does.

[He's not exactly president of the debate club or anywhere close and his political awareness isn't the greatest, given politics are rarely about basketball, but he's not a complete idiot.]

I don't trust any of this.

[castellano]

Well, yeah, it's -- way more than sonnets and showtunes.

[ For a moment, Eren nearly forgets about everyone else out in the street—glimpses of them from the corners of his eyes reminds him of them, however, and after a brief glance around he closes the distance left between him and Erwin. Of course, those around them still felt the need to gaze and gawk, but at least with Erwin nearby this should be... somewhat more tolerable.

He answers the first question with a simple nod, but upon the next statement, narrows his eyes in unfamiliarity. Florida. Okay, he keeps hearing that word, yet he's no closer to knowing what it meant than he was a couple of hours ago. ] A bit, sir. [ He can admit that much. ] I don't know what "Florida" is.

[As soon as she's able to make her own way up, Erwin lets go so she can crawl under the lowest rail. He didn't step away, kneeling down for a moment as she coughed on the pier.

There was no concern in his expression, but if she died that meant answers they were denied before would be lost, which means he's going to make sure she's breathing at the very least.]

Annie. Are you alright now?

[Don't mention it, Annie.]

[ Oh my god. He is Blaine Anderson. ] That's amazing. I love Broadway. I see several shows a month, and I have showtune playlists for every mood.

[ the break-up mix is a lot of les mis, a little spring awakening, and some legally blonde at the end as a pick-me-up. ]

[ wait. she should be a responsible adult. ] That said, I hope you have a rock solid fall-back career. If you aim for the stars, you need somewhere safe to land; trust me.

[upstages]

Well, now I'm on three watch lists, and it's your fault.

[castellano]

But you didn't say it. I said it. If anybody's on someone's watch list now, it's me.

It's really more of a charity thing, helping the socially constipated by bringing some joy and color to their lives.

[upstages]

Oh, please. You're so American. They wouldn't deport you even if you confessed to your crimes on live TV.

[castellano]

Since when? [ to Ryan. ] It's not. It's really not. And we're not old.

[Wakka watched onward in the safety of the sidewalk, arms crossed over his chest and hand covering his mouth-- most likely as a reminder to himself that he had to calm down. Clearly these people had no fear using the machina the way they were, but here he was... somewhere between having a heart attack and wanting to destroy everything in sight. How was he supposed to live like this?]

[ is this crossing into awkward territory? maybe, but it's too ridiculous to matter all that much. ] Definitely not Thor, okay. [ don't get your hopes up, handsome jerk. ] Maybe that one dude who was only in the movie for five minutes. Hawkguy?

[ ignoring the question. ] You know what. You're right. Peter is very youthful.

[castellano]

... Hawkeye. [ a beat. ] I'll take Jeremy Renner. He has a rogueish quality.

[ Hormones are hideous in young adulthood. Annie's not immune, but better used to ignoring them to concentrate on prioritzing her goals. Usually. Mostly. Draping her partially wrung out hoodie over one arm, she pulls down her shirt and considers Chad. He's physically active, and fit, given the whole swimming debacle they're both looking like semi-drowned rats after. The once over she gives him is prefunctory, tucking observations away for later. Her response is less perfunctory. ]

Annie Leonhart. As for that...

[ She twists to look out at the end of the pier where the birthday party still ambles on. Several kids were clinging to the rail, pointing out and waving their arms now. Ah. They'd noticed. ]

I know that, but you're extra American. [ what with the whiteness and the knowledge of basic historical facts or patriotic things. ] You know the Pledge of Allegiance by heart, and you can name, like, all the presidents. You know there's a gap in my memory between Martin Van Buren and Abraham Lincoln.

[Really, Chad has a girlfriend back home and is used to having cheerleaders all over him, too, things that happen when one is among the most popular boys at a high school, but there's the urge to look when he knows he shouldn't look that's hard to resist. Much easier to just focus on getting his shirt somewhat dry and looking down at his shoes, wondering if they're even salvageable.

Her words though have him raise his eyebrows and turn to look at her.]

By thin air? ...wow. You look like you could take on air.

[ She listened. She had no choice, given her own stance on survival. Annie coughed, and though her lungs and throat and eyes and nose burned, she breathed.

Gathering herself together, she seemed to curl inward, gasping on for breath as the coughing slacks off. Only it's a prelude to standing, done with deliberate slowness. Annie uses the railing for support, not sure if it was for show or otherwise.

Her eyes focused on Levi as she breathed in and out, not saying a word. Whatever powers he had been granted by this world were unknown to her, and hers were not granted, so much as maintained. She hadn't tested to see if it were true or not. ]
