TEST DRIVE MEME

01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

... Nah. I'm not implying that. Maybe you have your own name for it. It's All Hallow's Eve, too, right? Holidays have different titles sometimes. Are you from Canada?

Eorzea. The city-state of Ul'dah, specifically.

[Head-tilt.]

Have you heard of it?

[castellano]

... No, no I haven't heard of - it.

Fair enough. I have never heard of Florida, America, or Halloween.

Danny. My baby brother lives in Florida. Miami. He's gay. [ WHY WOULD YOU, DANNY. But, he's such a proud brother, he really is. And it's relevant information. ]

If he is gay, it is surely your good influence. [Pel chuckles.] I only wish my younger sister were so gay... I tell her if she frowns too much, she'll get wrinkles, but she doesn't listen!

[castellano]

[ A confused... furrow of the brow. ] Uh - I think you and I have different definitions. My brother Richie likes other men. He's gay. Not that you can't want your sister to want other, other women. She can like who she likes.

[dragoonreborn]

Oh...! Well, that's that, isn't it? I suppose by that definition I have many gay friends.

[Sweetly:] You like women, don't you Danny?

[castellano]

... Yeah, I do.

[ Is the lady with the cat ears trying to romance him? ]

[Pel flicks her ears in a manner that seems pleased.]

We should get a drink sometime.

[Yes, she pretty much does this to everyone.]

Oh. I'm not in ... any place to have a, a relationship right now. Or, date. I don't really go out on dates. I ended it with someone. Right before coming here, but thanks.

[Pel tsks, shaking her head a little. This one is so adorably awkward. It does make her want to tease him a bit.]

I said a drink, not a relationship. I am not looking for one of those either. But I do like handsome men. And drinks.

So perhaps some time we might be at the same tavern, simply by coincidence, and I might buy you a drink and we might speak for some time, about your brother and my sister, or Halloween, or anything at all, really. I hope we might.

Yeah, perhaps.

[ Maybe. Like Kevin Garnet, anything is possible??? How does he phrase, will you bring the cat ears with you to drinks nicely? ]

Don't look so scared, Danny. I only bite on special occasions.
