Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!

Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at someone else's thread, either!

01. The city of Heropa is what one might expect from a small, bright and cheery place, where locals are friendly enough and local shop owners might offer a free drink to welcome you to their fair city. Some of the locals might thank you for always lending your service to the nation, while others might not say anything -- but if you have something nasty to say, better not say anything at all, right?

In the wake of the recent blackout, neighborhoods are coming together to repair damage done by miscreants and share resources. In one of the commercial areas, retailers are taking advantage of the mild weather to hold a sidewalk sale. New arrivals and long-settled imPorts alike will receive a small discount at most stores, and while a few locals give them envious looks, many are just interested in what they might buy. You could set a trend, hero!

02. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, and though it's quieter than Heropa, there are still large numbers of citizens to be awed at your very presence. Look at you! Organic wonder! Science and technology are the lifeblood of this city, so you're likely to come across a good many locals taking your picture with the newest of devices. The imPort craze remains high here, and you may find yourself cornered by overzealous imPort fans, media wannabes and opportunists alike, shoving cameras in your face.

Their questions are likely to be fairly mundane, however; get ready for an interview about your taste in romantic partners, personal underwear choices, favorite foods, and more!

03. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania has had its ups and downs since imPorts started reappearing. Several imPort heroes have put focused efforts into cleaning up the streets of this somewhat infamous city, while others have swooped in to help the criminal industry thrive. More so here than the streets of any other imPort city, the battle between good and evil looks more like a war of escalation than a heroic tale. That might make the less than warm welcome imPorts are given in the city a little more understandable. The emergence of locals with superpowers is hardly helping. While some of these individuals have turned to crime, many locals seem more inclined to defend their native powered drug dealer than help the non-native hero bring them to justice. Who are you to tell them how to live?

There's still snow on the ground in Maurtia Falls, and some locals have decided to hold an impromptu snowman-sculpting contest. But...wait. That one looks familiar! Some of the snow people are definitely meant to be imPorts, but they aren't exactly flattering likenesses.

04. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities; loud, busy and there's some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. To be American is to be part of a melting pot, and that there’s more money to be made by the thriving local industries hardly hurts.

Go wander and get your shopping in, folks. Any imPort willing to be interviewed about how their New Year Resolution is going is instantly surrounded by a small gaggle of people.

01; I didn't do it

[ Blackouts, more a symptom than a problem — usually. Not that she had ever (ever, cross her heart hope to die, only the truth and nothing but so forth and so on) caused one. Whether or not it's her business this time around has very little to do with how involved she gets.

Rule number one though, don't care too much unless it's beneficial. Altruism has its own purposes, after all.

Sidewalk sales, street vendors, people out and about mingling has a certain kind of familiarity to it. You might be able to catch her examining a few of the wares — she's no stranger to picking something up, examining it, making an ambiguous noise in the back of her throat just to make the shopkeeper sweat a little. Bargaining of all kinds is her trade. At least she has some kind words: ] Don't take it so seriously, I have very specific tastes.

[ Or, you might find her off to the side, just enough in the shadows that you wouldn't call it a friendly position. But investigation is rarely all about being amicable. She's not one to get caught redhanded, but you can certainly deduce that she was poking around in the cables more than she should have been. Perhaps she's just a well-dressed attractive electrician. . .?

Under her breath, just audible: ] Now, what would we call this?

03; Let's be friends.

[ It's not to say that Sombra seeks out trouble. It could be more accurate to say that she is trouble. In Maurtia Falls she has little interest in the snow sculptures, though she does stop long enough to browse. Any sculpture who's creature has stepped out for a moment will be decorated with additions to their facial features — mustache here, surprised eyebrows there, dimples and Xs and Os. She can't resist, really. It's all in good fun.

She's far more in her element away from the festivities. She doesn't look out of place at all, slipping through the streets on her way to meet with some important new friends. Drug dealers and thugs make the most wonderful of companions if you know how to tug their strings.

Besides, it isn't as though she's someone you want to meet in a dark alley, either. ]

[While she spends most of her time in Maurtia Falls, the Major isn't adverse to journeying to Heropa for some sun and more inviting temperatures. Not to mention the business opportunities for her cyber-security consulting, considering how many computer systems were completely toasted by the power outage.

She happens to be leaving one such job when a figure in the shadows catches her eye. She'd mostly leave this sort of thing to the local authorities, but if it's someone trying to prey on a city still recovering from a catastrophe, well... that rubs her the wrong way a bit. Her camouflage activates with a low hum and she moves in closer to get a better appraisal of the situation. And when she finally speaks, the voice seems to come from out of the darkness itself.]

Heropa -- All Over

[Yuri is hard to miss with the way he's gliding about wherever he goes. Like any child who's just been gifted a super power, he's taking advantage of his own to "skate" everywhere. Over roads, gravel, grates; all of it. Why would he ever want to waste time walking again? Especially when he doesn't even need to be wearing skates to do it.

If that's not eye catching enough, then maybe the way he stops every now and then to shout into the distance is.]

Heropa -- Sidewalk Sale

[Later, Yuri opts to spend some time wandering around the sale that's sprung up. He might be found eyeing a studded leather jacket, lingering near a stray cat, or actually vibrating in excitement over a particularly edgy looking t-shirt.]

At least this world knows how to do fashion right.

[ As Yurio rounds some corner in the middle of Heropa, he'll run right smack into one of the people he's shouting for. It's not enough to knock him over, but it's just enough for Viktor to need to catch his balance with his hands on Yuri's shoulders, making the bandage on his arm more visible. ]

Going straight from the 1860s to the 2010s has thrown poor Victor for a bit of a shock. Free drink in hand (it's mango flavored which apparently is a thing), he finds himself at a sidewalk sale because while Victor might not yet understand the Porter or how he was brought here or why buildings were so tall, he could at least understand capitalism. And, as he spots a used bookstore as part of the sidewalk sale, he makes a beeline right for that because oh thank god, books, he knows books.

Unfortunately, there's a large selection of romance novels and tacky sci-fi books on sale and nothing that would grab Victor's interest. So, after coming across another copy of A Transdimensional Love Affair (not even the Porter could stop their love!), Victor's honestly had quite enough. ]

Excuse me, [ he says, obviously annoyed, gesturing towards random person. ] Where exactly can one find actual books, and not... [ he looks down at Seduced by the Supervillain ] ...this.

[ All this technology...Victor's blown away. And really, none of it is all that surprising. It's simply the logical extension of where things were back in his world. Trading in horses and buggies for this automobile, make photography equipment smaller and more portable. He doesn't understand just how it works, just that it does. But hoo boy does he want to understand that how.

The problem is, he's been interrupted from looking at a camera at the shop window by a horde of people with a barrage of questions. He's still wearing his 1860s attire as such, he is 100% an obvious target. He'll answer questions enough but it is 100% obvious he does not want to be here.

What's your favorite food? ] I don't think I have one, really, I-- [ What about your fave author, who's your fave author? ] Easily Wordsworth. He- [ Do you have a special lady in your life?

That question, more than anything else causes Victor to look ABSOLUTELY UNCOMFORTABLE as he attempts to stammer out a lack of an answer while looking helplessly for an escape. Someone please save him. ]

[ The man he asked this of was wearing a bowtie. Actually, with the gingham suit and paisley bowtie, bookish glasses, and the way he held up a book and squinted at it, he actually looked like he worked there.

Up until he turned his head, and squinted at the title for a moment, before he pulled his glasses off, and stared at it.

Was he trying to make a statement? Was that a hint? Or was that just innocuous? Play it cool, Mike. ]

[ Sometimes, people can just blend in from the very first moment that they arrive, walking the streets with feigned familiarity, clothing already as normal as can be. Unfortunately for him, Obi-Wan is not one of those people, although he very rarely is; he's still clad in his jedi robes, weaponry at his side only slightly concealed by the folds of his robe, looking around him with an air of something between interest and quiet confusion. He's not sure what's going on here yet (and he is determined to find out), but in the meantime, he's taking in the wares.

Eventually, he settles on sipping on a bright pink strawberry milkshake out of a colourful, striped straw, occasionally pausing to wipe whipped cream off of his beard. You may find him outside of a bookstore, milkshake still in hand as he skims the back of what can only be described as an incredibly cheesy sci-fi novel with every sign of amusement. ]

I see that I won't be flying off of this planet anytime soon, [ he remarks wryly, mostly to himself. ]

[ Once he steps foot in De Chima, it doesn't take long for Obi-Wan to suddenly be assaulted with a camera and a microphone thrust into his face, staring into the face of hell itself - or, as hell has manifested itself this day, into the overeager, alarmingly empty blue eyes of a newscaster with a smile from ear to ear and perfectly coiffed blonde hair. ]

Now, here's something new in imPort fashion! Do all men where you're from wear dresses? Is this the new fashion statement of 2017? I, for one, think that's going a bit too far, don't you think, ladies?

[ She turns, and laughs at her own joke into the camera. ]

I don't see why that would be the case, [ Obi-Wan begins, because while he wears a tunic, not a dress, thank you very much, it's ludicrous to assume that all planets and species follow your specific fashion mores, but before he can say any more, she's turned back to him with an even wider grin, which he hadn't been aware was possible. ]

But here's the question we all want to know - are you wearing any underwear under there?

I really don't see how that's any of your business!

[Having been roused by a ripple in the usually placid Force running through this world, Revan was on the trail immediately. Though naturally curious, a disturbance like this usually heralded the arrival of someone from his universe.

For better or worse. And that was not something he could let go without investigation.

Although he didn't expect to, nor did he attempt, to sneak up on the armored jedi, he had long been in the habit of suppressing his own power. -With another sensitive in the form of a sith on the planet he was a bit wary of being tracked. And the chance that this could be another of their bothersome ilk lent itself to his desire for subtly.

However it only took a glance at the jovial figure to put him off his guard.]

Wait, that sounded like a threat didn't it? [The corners of his mouth tugging down in a silent "eegh".] What I meant to say is hello, Jedi.

[ The best way to understand the heart of a place is to see it at its worst, in Severus' opinion. That's why after some preliminary research (even if this network thing is awful, whose bright idea was it to give a platform for intolerable chatter at all hours), he alights first in Pennsylvania. He doesn't stop moving; he walks, listening, observing. His quick pace takes him through backstreets and parks, and when a snowball whizzes at his head (he is dressed a bit oddly), it misses, though the would-be assailant is going to have a nasty rash for a week. Mysteriously. Severus barely turns his head.

He turns a corner and vanishes, disapparating, moving to a new location. (maybe it takes him a couple of stops) (idk what the power cap on this would be) (itisamystery.gif) Apparating and turning a corner in Virgina without breaking his stride, he finds himself met with-- what the fuck. Someone is shoving a small electronic device in his face, but she backs off abruptly under the force of his glare.

Severus doesn't stay long. Out of habit he feels pressured to escape prying eyes before performing magic, even though he knows the law of the land is vastly different here. Someone begins to approach him and in a moment of spite, Severus turns on his heel and is gone. In North Carolina now, it's too loud and crowded, but at least people seem to be behaving normally. He jerks his arm away from where someone (a muggle) brushes into him, wills himself to relax. This whole world feels like one massive bloody mistake. ]

( 2; far more stationary ) Heropa

[ It's pathetic, honestly, that non-magical people can't keep to minding rules the second the lights are out, like children devolving into a food fight when a teacher steps out of the room. Practically animals.

Severus does repair a street lamp - doesn't make a show of it (not all wizards need to be the center of attention all the goddamn time), just a muttered word and the briefest flick of his wand from across the way. He doesn't even stop walking. He finds himself in the makeshift market, arms crossed over his chest, aimlessly looking at what's on offer; he has no intention of purchasing anything, honestly, what would he do with any of this nonsense.

He looks slightly out of place and more than slightly unpleasant, but that's normal, really. ]

[Sabriel's here more for the conversation than the shopping. Still, she ends up buying a few items before a boy tugs at her sleeve, asking to see a magic trick.

Sabriel complies, directing the child to cup his hands as she traces out shining symbols above them- marks that turn to water that drops into the child's hands.]

[ Walking down the street in a pink umbrella with cute ducks on it is... well, you're not sure. It looks as if the umbrella is casting a shadow except the shadow is pitch black. You can't see through it at all. The only thing visible, depending on your angle, is two glowing yellow eyes. ]

[ The monster, wreathed in shadow, holding his umbrella, is enjoying himself. This place sure is weird but hey -- sidewalk sales? Super fun. So much stuff! He's going through the sale, examining stuff. He spots some cool robot toys and gasps. Those? Those he has to have. He turns his glowing yellow eyes towards the person manning the booth. ]

How much gp for those?

[ He says, though honestly he's not sure if he has any gp. Also he doesn't have any scrabble tiles with the letters g or p either. Whatever! ]

[ Kyoko has straight up shoplifted some food from a different sidewalk sale booth. She's munching on a sandwich as she catches a glimpse of Monster...and just kind of pauses. He doesn't look like a witch or a familiar. He just looks black. No, more shadowy than black.

It's friggen weird. So tentatively, she walks towards Monster, peering over at what he wants. And it's toys. This is just making less and less sense. ]

TJ | The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ & Amal

[The atmosphere here is enough to throw a guy off. Something is wrong, something's off, but hell if TJ can tell what. He can feel the nervousness in the air, though the locals seem like they're trying to make light of whatever it was. Hey, he's not gonna be the one to press the locals if they're this stressed. Someone will talk eventually, and he'll hear it then.

In the mean time, TJ keeps walking down the streets, hands in his pockets, trying to keep a low profile even while working out just where he ended up and how...

Until that street sale distracts him, anyway. That looks way more important.

It's not long til he finds the table of one of those self-described "hippie stores," though it's more like a novelty store, with tacky t-shirts ranging from faux vintage band tees to weed jokes to tie-dye. Soon, he finds himself staring down the stupidest hoodie he's ever seen in his life.

He wants it.

It costs way too much money, but, God, he wants it.

Now, TJ knows the meaning of a dollar. Hell, he probably knows it better than most people. That said, hey, when in Rome, right?

Any eagle-eyed person might see TJ sneak off from the table, stalk off into an alley to fish into his cheap old backpack, stuff a wad of bills into his wallet. When he makes it back to the table, he pays in cash, a fifty and a twenty, both wrecked up, and denies the change. He denies a bag, too, shrugging his prize right onto his shoulders.

He looks ridiculous.

[ luke is so far beyond exhausted that he hadn't even spent much time questioning his arrival or new accommodations. he'd taken his packet, found his way to his housing, and had collapsed in his assigned room, sleeping the night and much of the next morning away. it's only after he wakes--still aching down to his bones, still grieving for his father--that he picks up the folder and ventures out once more to see just what he's gotten into now.

he hadn't met any of his apparent housemates yesterday, but he'd seen signs of them living here, and he can sense at least one nearby. the living area? making his way in that direction, he pauses in the entryway to the room, awkward and well-aware of what he must look like-- worn, filthy, black uniform rumpled from sleep and lightsaber still hanging from his belt. running his gloved hand hastily through his hair to smooth it, he finds a smile somewhere, offering it to the stranger as he takes another step inside. ]

Hi, sorry for barging in. I arrived last night and I'm afraid I.. ah, fell asleep before I could introduce myself. I'm Luke. [ he lifts the folder, then, brows arching curiously. ] --This happens pretty often, then?

[ luke's cleaned himself up since his arrival, thankfully, and now looks composed and at least vaguely less like a complete mess. (it's been a rough couple of days, give him a break.) he adjusts the angle of the camera, then offers a quick smile, all farmboy charm. ]

Hello. Apologies for what's almost certainly a routine you all see every time new.. imPorts is the term? Every time new ones arrive. I hear it's a good idea to look for familiar faces through the network, so that's what I'm here for.

[ a pause, shifting thoughtfully, before lifting his right hand and pulling the glove up, turning his hand to reveal the blaster damage to the prosthetic. ] Also, if anyone has an idea where I can find tools for very fine mechanical and electrical work, I'd love to hear it. I'd rather fix this sooner than later. [ it's already glitching, and he doesn't want to make it any worse.

he pulls the glove back down, lowering his hand once more. ] For the record, my name is Luke Skywalker, and it looks like I'll be working in some sort of garage while I'm here, so. [ his lips quirk back up, apparently amused. ] I suppose if you need a hand with a speeder, or whatever they're called here--cars?--let me know.

[ There's a young woman with a whole lot of skull themed jewelry flopped over the back of the couch, scrolling through something or another on her phone. For all that she sprawls with prototypical teenage gracelessness, there's something subtly otherworldly about her. Like there's too much something barely contained in too small a package. Or maybe like a statue simply decided to walk around, something that is solid stone and human at the same time.

Still, the disinterested once-over she gives him is all Shitty Teen Attitude. Her freckled nose wrinkles as she decides how much she cares, which seems to be "not much." ]


What, that your new room mate is a wino piece of shit with no regard for my schedule? Uh huh. Basically constantly.


[ Then she goes back to looking at her phone. ]

01: Heropa - This ocean is decidedly not her friend.

[Moana is used to crowds, somewhat. After growing up on their small Island back home and all, with her people. Only, these crowds seem more overwhelming. Not that she isn't used to some measure of attention, given her status as the daughter of the chief of Motonui back home. But just while she figures things, she'd rather have some time to herself.

And well, there's that scent on the breeze that tells her there's water nearby - the shore. Anyone who knew her would hardly be surprised to find her at the beach.

Her toes dig into the sand as she watches the waves, and tries to keep an eye on Heihei, her pet chicken. Who seems decidedly determined to drown himself, either by going out into the water or sticking his head in the sand. If he is in the water, Moana will easily shift it to procure him. She barely thinks anything of it, given she's grown up around the ocean and considers it a friend of hers. Chances are, she isn't even aware that anyone else might be around to see her, immediately, as she chastises the chicken.

And then yelling at the ocean. Because clearly that will help. And make anyone around to see and hear totally....not question her sanity?]

If I'm so important, the one you chose, then why did I end up here?! This Island is full of heroes, but not him! Maui isn't here! You take me back!

o2: De Chima - What's a camera?

Wait, what....? Um, what is that....?

[People are surrounding her and wielding cameras. Only, Moana has no clue what they are. Or the phones, for that matter. Only that they make bright lights and people push buttons or tap them or something after the flash of light in her face.

Yeah, she's rather obviously a fish out of water here. At least she hasn't outright threatened them to leave her and Heihei alone with her oar.

[ Yeah, the Atlantic isn't all that or anything, but a walk on the beach is a walk on the beach, and anybody who's ever made a joke about personal ads loves a walk on the beach, right? Right! Parking it out here and digging his feet into the sand had been basically the first thing Hunk had done when he'd arrived. The structure of the Earth, all the deep water and the land between, has thus far proven itself as pretty unique in the grand scope of the universe. So, yeah. He tries to remain appreciative.

So here he is, taking the idle, scenic route to the garage, and... Is that girl yelling at a chicken? Is that what's going on? Or at... Somebody? Somewhere? Hunk clears his throat before an attempt to clear up some of the apparent confusion. ]

This is a peninsula, and Maui's a pretty long haul from here. [ And then, of course: ] Did you bring a chicken with you?

Nick Valentine | Fallout

Nick had vague memories of the Pre-War time, but they were kind of like having the memories of a movie you saw one time, but never actually lived through. (Hell-- movies were such a memory for him.) Arriving in a world that was somewhat familiar, and yet also completely alien made it quite the adventure just walking down the street.

The fact that Nick was basically incapable of fitting into a crowd also didn't help. As he scoured the tables of the various sidewalk sales, he found himself about as inspected as the wares were. Thankfully, nobody mistook him for merchandise. Yet.

He was standing outside an electronics store, carefully examining the various devices for sale-- all strangely familiar, but just different enough from what he was used to to be confusing. Not to mention that most of the tech he was used to was centuries broken, and repurposed as explosives or fired out of weird bazookas.

"I'm going to go ahead and guess that you're fresh out of Assaultron circuit boards." Nick paused. "Or that they haven't been invented yet."

As it wasn't the first time Nick suddenly came to after a period of blank nothingness, it took a little time for him to decide that he hadn't, in fact, been reset. Even for an Institute reject like him who wasn't much of a target, the very idea of someone using a recall code on him was still enough to make his coolant go cold.

Of course, figuring out what had happened wasn't all that much better. The "helpful" orientation and the file shoved into his hands hadn't really settled him down. How exactly was he supposed to feel, suddenly back in the Pre-War-- a place that part of him can remember all too well?

And boy, if he thought he stood out back in the Commonwealth, he was really the center of attention walking down a Pre-War street. Between the camera flashes and the excited crowds, Nick couldn't make it more than five yards down the street at a time before having to shoo people. Add that to the lights, the sounds, the moving vehicles, the lack of rads, all the electronic signals he could somehow feel in the air around him, and he thought he now had a very literal grasp on the saying "circuits overloaded."

He was attempting to duck away from yet another amateur photographer when he accidentally bumped into someone, quite hard.

"Sorry. 'Scuse me," he mumbled, and said a silent little prayer that this person would not also scream, point, or take pictures of the mechanical man.

Of all the streets in all the world, he happened down the one Sally was currently slouching her most recent walk of shame home along. The noise and the crowds were normal now, most more interested in imPorts that didn't look like a reject from Sid and Nancy, with a leopard print coat, frazzled hair, and the half focused gaze that came from last nights heroin and...whatever else there'd been only being mostly out of her system. Any that did wander into her space got slightly bloodied teeth bared at them in a hiss. The woman in no mood for it.

"Fuck."

So it wasn't a scream, wasn't a point, just a curse as his bump made her drop her lighter, her cigarette now hanging unlit between scowling lips.

[ this place is large and strange, all sorts of things surrounding him that he doesn't recognize and doesn't understand. lamps that have nothing to do with candles, and strange things held up to the ear to speak into. he'd taken one from a nearby pocket, but didn't understand what it was supposed to do; when he listened, there was nothing there. the person had been happy to speak into it, so they couldn't have been imagining it, right?

but oh, this is something he does understand, something he can help with. broken windows, smashed up signs. he can help with this, and stops by nearly every single one he can find to right fallen signage and goods, help carry tables and board up windows. this is good. this is easy.

Cole can be found wandering back and forth, helping where he's needed and mostly just turning away whenever people thank him. hopefully he didn't steal your phone. ]

[ The man with white hair is tall. Tall and gangly, with long legs, large shoes, a bright bow-tie, and a pair of specs that look right in place with everything else around him. The natives milling around almost miss that he's an import, except for the moments when the bright tattoo slips free of the suitjacket he's wearing. He looks just between nerd and out of place, the right mix of someone who looks almost unassuming, but comical, all at the same time.

But really? He's mostly showing interest in the wares they're selling -- and mostly with befuddlement. He doesn't really get most of it -- it's all knick-knacks and odds and ends. Weird things that humans come up with -- and most of their inventions at least are made to supersede their apparent inferiority, but... This is just kind of weird. Really weird. Why did humans do these things? ]

I don't understand? [ He held up a sculpture ] If it's not functional, what's the point of having a guitar you can't even play? I thought everyone liked music. [ A pause. ] Everyone who isn't going to...you know where, anyway. [ He tipped his head, and gestured with a thumb facing up, eyebrows raised. The creator of this thing? Definitely not going there. ]

I'm not exactly sure I'm that type. I'm a celestial being with no concept of romance or dating -- other than what I've been observing in humans.

[It's been a day or so since the new imPorts' arrivals, and Han is taking the opportunity to explore, as it were—there's no way he's getting off this planet any time soon, and while that rankles him like nothing else (almost), he's an adaptable guy, he can roll with this. It helps that right now there's a sidewalk sale going on, and Han's always been one for deals and haggling.

...he's doing surprisingly little haggling today, what with all the discounts he's being given just for being an imPort. It's a change from being shot at, at least, and in no time flat he's bought the essentials, done some grocery shopping, and is now looking for speeder—no, wait, sorry, car accessories.]

No, I don't want lucky dice. Or a holder. I don't have anything it could hold, anyway. Where's your engine coolant?

[This is something Han's more used to, from his days as a smuggler and, later, a rebel—a wretched hive of scum and villainy, a lot like Mos Eisley underneath the shine and the snow. He doesn't stick around the snowman-sculpting contest for very long, preferring instead to start exploring around the city's seedier parts and trying his best not to get caught up in any scrapes for the time being—he just wants to get a sense of the city, not wade into a fight.

He is not completely successful on that front. By the time he makes it to a bar, there's a bruise that's just beginning to turn purple under his eye and a little cut where someone's ring sliced his face open. He saunters over to the counter, as nonchalant as possible even with people staring suspiciously at him, and pulls a paper bill out of his jacket.]

Beer. [A pause, then he blinks up at the bartender, who's giving him a mistrustful look.] Look, I promise, I'm not gonna leave a mess here. Just got caught up in one before getting here, that's all.

She believed in the Force and all that it meant in an abstract sort of way, like she believed in the fact that stars gave light. Clear, unavoidable, critical to life, but not something that she'd actually given extensive contemplation to. She'd just always assumed that after...that becoming one with the Force would be...be...

So she'd slunk into this bar, untouched whiskey with long melted ice clutched between both her hands, and tried to think. So far she'd only scraped together a blanked out haze, managing to snap to attention solely when unwanted attention came close.

[Yesterday, it was midsummer. Today, it's the middle of fucking winter. There's a metaphor in there somewhere. Time's shifted around him, he's slipped through the cracks between worlds - and while Ronan Lynch is more familiar with these phenomena than most people, he's still considerably undone by it. Even for a loner, it's difficult to be alone.

Wrapped up in his newly-dreamt winter clothes, Ronan makes his way aimlessly through the city. He's established by now that none of his friends followed him through, though he hasn't done enough research yet to realize he's done this before. It's all brand new to him.

He also hates it. Without Gansey or anyone else to steer him right, his internal navigation leads him (naturally) to trouble. Using a fake ID, he buys a forty from the nearest liquor store and settles onto a random stoop to drink it down. One would assume the sight would be typical enough not to draw attention, but somehow the locals can smell the otherworldliness on him. Maybe it's the cut of his clothes. Maybe it's something else. They figure out he's an imPort and they assume he's there to narc.

Which is how Ronan ends up in a street fight with five local teenagers. Five thugs against one is shitty odds, even for someone of Ronan's impressive stature. He's getting his ass handed to him.]

There's some file he's been carrying around that he doesn't fully understand and if Pidge or Hunk were here, they could probably make sense of it. This town is at least busier and he can probably get more answers here. Too bad he looks more unsure who exactly to stop and ask; he doesn't know these people or really want to bother. Especially not when he's gotten stopped for another photo in his Paladin armor.

It's not until someone tries climbing his lion that he speaks up.] Hey! Get off her, don't do that!

He looks up from what he's doing, squinting against the angle of the sun for a split-second. ]

And second, she's in a freaky alternate universe version of America where it's 2016 but the Cold War is still on and the aesthetic is less #hipster and more Jetsons.

Third, she has superpowers??????

It's all a bit overwhelming, given that, again, she was just in a struggle to prove her soul had improved ever since she came to the Good Place and she wasn't awful enough to be condemned to unending torture for the rest of all existence.

So, it was possibly inevitable that she would come to clash with someone at some point in the seediest of imPort cities, and discover that she still can't swear. And for that matter, that nobody talking to her can swear, either. Which is definitely recipe for disaster when tempers are flaring high]

[This continues, circularly, for a while, before Eleanor attempts the universal gesture of bird flipping. At which point, her middle finger briefly takes on the shape of a fork, which has a way of short-circuiting even the most heated of arguments.]

[One thing Eleanor discovers, and discovers fairly quickly, is that with the exception of Pennsylvania, a lot of people here tend to love their weirdly kidnapped neighbors, just for existing.

Now, pre-Chidi Eleanor probably would've taken the opportunity to horribly extort these poor starstruck fools with terrible imPort merchandise (Dress Bitch fiasco-style), but New and Improved (TM) Eleanor is just going to soak up the attention like a sponge instead. Nothing wrong with humoring other people's (possibly slightly unhealthy) interest in her taste in toothpaste, conditioner, and bras, right?]

01 - Heropa

[Jaime doesn't linger at the outdoor stalls, but passes through with only cursory glances at the merchandise. A length in brutal captivity has left him looking less of a golden knight, and certainly less a hero--though Jaime has at least washed, and found clothes more suitable to his surroundings. Better yet, the surgeons of this place have done well by his missing hand, and he wears a clean bandage on his stump.

The sensation of namelessness is strange. In King's Landing, they wouldn't recognize him. In this strange city, they simply don't know him. And yet Jaime finds that he is still attracting attention, from stallkeeps and bystanders alike. He quickens his pace a little, tries to duck aside from a woman carrying a large sack and steps off the pavement clumsily, into the street. The sharp turn knocks his stump against his side. A shock of pain sprints up his arm, and Jaime pulls in a quick sharp breath.

Only once that pain has faded does he realize that he's bumped into someone. Gracelessness is not something he's accustomed to. With a quick pained smile, he shifts aside and offers--]

Your pardon. [A little stilted thanks to his stress.] I was trying to avoid that free cup of wine.

03 - Maurtia Falls

[Jaime wanders through the snowmen like a man in a sculpture garden. A very poor sculpture garden, and a very poor man--though one with a trimmed beard, and dressed warmly, with a scarf and black gloves. Glove, anyways. The stump of his right hand he keeps concealed in the sleeve of his long woolen coat.

As he picks his way between the molded forms, his boots crunch on the snow, an unpleasant sound. Jaime has never disliked snow. Nor has he liked it. What sane man would? Now it makes him think, queerly, of Westeros. It had been growing colder when he was taken, a chill that he had first mistaken only for how far north he was. Then there was much else to occupy him.

But in this place, Jaime slows here and there, to look curiously at the details of the faces. He doesn't outright stop until he comes upon the face of one just his height, wearing a fringed pine bough as a beard. Stuck in its left side there is a branch, a spindled hand. Stuck in its right side, a club.

What in the name of the Seven. Or perhaps, how. Jaime looks down at his limp right coatsleeve with a wry amusement.]

Uncanny. [--he observes aloud, to whoever is stood nearby.] Are all the sculptors here so quick, or am I to take this as a compliment.

Currently, he's browsing what the local bookstore has set out. The comics selection is strange to him, having few that he recognizes, but that's where he'll linger the longest, paging through some of them. ]

[ From behind her sunglasses, Rosa regards her surroundings with the sort of apathetic disdain that suggests this is exactly how she always pictures Florida, wreckage and all.

Admittedly it's nothing too terrible -- she can recognize the signs of lootings when she sees them, which account for the bulk of the visible damage more than whatever storm or... whatever the hell happened to had set them off. Glasses crunches beneath her boots from broken windows that have since been repaired, or maybe from a now-cleaned up car wreck, as she crosses the street, adjusting her sunglasses to peer at some of the sidewalk sale displays-- though in doing so she is inexplicably (if only because she hasn't yet sat down to read her file, which is definitely not happening in a public place) zapped by a static shock that travels from the point of contact -- her hand, the glasses frames -- through her hair, volumnizing it slightly further more with frizz than curls. Ow.

Aggravated, she rips the sunglasses from her face and flings them to the ground, then stares at the sidewalk displays with increasing impatience as she calmly sweeps a hand through her hair. Ugh. Florida. ]

Forget this. It's so terrible here I think I need a drink already.

[ Crowds and the press are both things Rosa is well-acquainted with, which is not to say she is at all fond. Being interrogated about her personal life, however, rather than work, makes things a little easier in that she has absolutely no responsibility to answer.

Nathan would really like to know, standing there as he is with his arms folded over his chest and looking over what's for stealing sale at one of the sidewalk vendors set up in front of a store. He makes for an...impressive figure— not exactly the reason for their "envious" looks, something of which he's oblivious to— but damn, the locals are definitely giving him looks (let's be honest, horrified and surprised is where these looks fall under, ouch).

Though, hell, Nate wouldn't even know how it happened. Or why.

He knows he's got some looks to him, for his age, but...

...one minute he's in the jungle with Elena, century old mummies are exploding as they're triggered by movement, the two of them making a run for it, and then they're falling with the heat of dynamite going off at their backs. Explosions, rocks broken in the blast and falling with them. He'd grabbed her mid-air and twisted to protect her from the fall, shielding her to take the brunt of the impact. And now he's here. Wet. Muddy. Filthy. Like he'd walked through a sweltering swamp. Or hasn't seen a shower in a days.

There's nothing out of the ordinary with him, that he knows of. He's dressed in the same clothes— a henley, jeans, leather cross-back gun holsters. Clown face.

Apparently this is a thing. The moment Nate turns away from the table of goods, he's face to face with one of the younger locals. The poor child takes one look at him and their face falls as they burst into tears rather abruptly, beginning to cry. Loudly.

Nate stares, lost, and suddenly their mother rushes forward to grab her kid, shooting him a dirty look.

He's absolutely dumbfounded, mouth falling open. ]

Seriously? [ His arms come out at his sides. ] Sheesh, talk about reassuring for any plans of future parenthood.

The day is pretty much done—interviews finished, camera put away—but she's still among the crowd, checking out the new arrivals. [ With technology being so popular in this town, it wasn't much of a surprise that a walking, talking mechanical construct such as HK-47 would be the thing to talk about where ever he went. He was finding himself standing on the spot more often than not, having trouble following his current master to their destination. ]

[ It was about the sixth time this happened that his angular head swiveled toward his master, red eyes looking irritated, never mind there was no way for him to change his expression. ]

[ There was one, rather large, rather white and angular attempt at a snow droid, and there was one rather large, rather rusty and angular original. It was amazing how HK-47 was capable of looking irritated, and at the moment, he looked like he wished he had lasers for his eyes, so as to destroy the snow-HK easier. ]

Whatever. Take my money.

[ reaching over the counter top, murphy grabs at the plastic bags the clerk had been taking their time with loading his pile of clothes into, and starts to shove the merchandise in there haphazardly, no attention to wrinkling. he's gone through jeans and socks, just getting to boxers, when someone's face comes into view, someone he assumes to be another annoying local. ]

[ murphy does not now, and has never before, been interested in being a hero. especially not in this city, but at least it feels a little more honest about it's hatred for people like him. it probably says a little too much about him, that he feels more comfortable being sneered at than praised, doesn't it?

regardless, he's wrapped his layers tight around himself, and tugged his hood up to cover his face, hands gloved and most of his body covered. it blends in miraculously well in this hole of a city, where no one really wants to get noticed. least of all when he's just acquired some not so legal (for his age) booze stuffed in a paper sack, nursing at it gradually as he watches people build snowmen in the park across the street, snorting a laugh at one that looks particularly good in it's mockery.

[due to the fact archie is as yet unaware of his new powers (or even how to use them), he's decided to go for a wander in the new city. who knows, maybe he'll find matt or shelly. or a grunt. hell, he'd even take maxie at this rate! regardless, he has a good time wandering around, grabbing some questionable fashion for when he'll eventually need to change out of his wetsuit.

after a couple hours of wandering around, he comes upon a small park and decides to take a short break, flopping down onto his ass with a loud groan. a few seconds later, he pulls out a pokéball and releases his crobat, who flaps around in the air for a few moments chittering in confusion then lands on the grass next to him. it hops over to him, pressing its face into his side.]

[ It has been a long, long day. After accidentally stealing and his cape constantly getting caught on things or tugged on by people, Cicero is exhausted. Some kind soul had given him a plastic cup full of lemonade, and so he'd found himself a shady tree to sit under, to assess what he'd learned and figure out how to deal with all of...This. It is a lot to take in.

So yes, he notices the man plopping onto the ground a little ways away, but he doesn't say anything. There's a lot of information to process, and not nearly enough materials to write it all onto—

And all of that flies out the window at the flash of light and sudden appearance of a...a creature? He jumps to his feet, and ends up spilling all of his lemonade. Doesn't matter, though! ]

Excuse me! Sir— [ A slight pause, finally taking note of the man; what is he wearing? Wait, no, more important matters. He gestures at the creature. [ Option 02: De Chima, Virginia ]

[ Unlike a lot of his peers within the Justice League, Wally had always enjoyed interacting with the public. There was just something special about building a genuine connection with the people. It was a big part of why he was so beloved in his hometown of Central City back on his Earth.

And, yeah, he'd be lying if he said he didn't like the attention on a personal level.

All of this was why the speedster was more than happy to appease the crowd that had suddenly gathered around him taking pictures and wanting interviews. ]

Okay, everybody! No pushing! There's plenty of Flash to go around!

[ A young woman with dark hair, who Wally would deem as attractive, had managed to maneuver to the front of the crowd so she could ask the first question. ] So, you're the Flash?

The one and only! [ Except for those others he doesn't know about. ] And you are...?

[ The interview continued for another minute with him enthusiastically answering the run-of-mill questions tossed his way, before the reporter and most of the crowd abruptly took off to chase down another imPort who had shown up in the vicinity while he was in the middle of rambling on about food. ]

...I have to eat a bunch because I have an hyper-accelerated metabol-- Hey, where's everyone going? Did I mention I'm the Fastest Man Alive!?

[ With a dejected sigh, he glanced around at the few stragglers still hanging around. ]

At least I still have you guys. [ With a few final clicks of their cameras and phones, almost all of the stragglers rushed off to catch up with the rest of the herd. ] ...Or not.

[ Option 03: Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania ]

[ Being the good samaritan that he was, Wally, wearing his Flash costume, had chased down a kid who was trying to make off with a purse that certainly didn't belong to them. The kid, who couldn't have been older than twelve, did ultimately manage to escape -- disappearing down an alley after stomping on Wally's foot while he was in the middle of his lecture about how stealing wasn't good -- but that was of little consequence at the moment.

All that mattered was Wally had retrieved the stolen item and could now return it to the proper owner.

Except there was no grateful smile on the lips of the old lady like he expected when he returned the purse. Instead, she simply told him "Nobody asked for your help", smacked him in the arm with said purse, and then proceeded to storm off in a huff with not so much of a glance back. ]

You know, showing a little gratitude never hurt anybody!

[ While the woman didn't show any sign of hearing his parting words as she continued to walk away, Wally realized they didn't go completely unnoticed as there was a spectator who got to witness the slightly embarrassing encounter between him and his new arch-nemesis.

He flashed the new person a grin, jerking a thumb in the direction the woman had went. ] Sheesh, some people. Amirite?

[ Said spectator is Kyoko, who watched the whole thing with a frown on her face. What was that guy's deal anyway? Yeah, they were supposed to be "superheroes" but Kyoko didn't believe that nonsense at all. She was just going to keep doing what she's always done.

So, as Wally flashed her a grin, Kyoko just gave him a little shrug as she took another bite out of the apple she was carrying. ]

She's right, you know. It was her own fault that the purse got stolen in the first place! Why help out someone who's just that stupid?
