Fucking magnets, how does this work?
Step 1: Post a list of your characters.
Step 2: Sit and twirl your moustaches until other people post their characters, then go and ask them questions about their folks. It can be anything, from "So how deep DO Tony Stark's daddy issues run?" (Answer: "they swim amongst giant squid and anglerfish and the trench the kaiju came out of") to "Tell me your least favorite thing about the DC canon" (Answer: "Holy shit are there some cockmongling dingleberries running that company").
Step 3: Other people will ask YOU questions. You go and answer those questions, and be polite - ask THEM a question in return after you're done answering it! (So, it's not just "Nick Burkhardt decided to become a cop when he heard about police brutality and wanted to get in on that" but also you follow up with "What magnificent auroch did Loki hunt to get those beautiful horns?") Then when THEY answer their question, they'll ask YOU a question! ("They came from being cuckolded in Shakespearean times. What are Nick Burkhardt's favorite sunglasses?") And the you ask THEM A QUESTION AGAIN! And they ask YOU! And you ask THEM!! And they ask YOU!!!! So that it's a great big patty-cake of QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS!!!

Miranda's low self-esteem is definitely one of her better kept secrets and while she has come a long way thanks to nosy protagonists who moonlight as therapists she is not and will probably never be one hundred percent 'over' her own shortcomings. What Miranda does and continues to do is degrade herself, categorizing herself not as a person but as a resource. The 'logic' there is if she can dehumanize herself then no one else can; she knows she's valuable and feels a warped modicum of control when she believes she is utilizing herself to the best of her abilities.

Her sense of worth is rooted deeply in the satisfaction she finds putting herself in increasingly demanding and even dangerous situations. Pushing herself to extremes is the only way she finds meaning in what she is and her questionable origins. At her lowest she'll mistake her accomplishments as only the byproduct of her genetic tailoring and not something she could have done 'on her own'. Times like these have become fewer and farther between but just because Shepard gave her a pat on the back doesn't mean she's broken free from the depressing outlook on what should be moments of personal pride.

Everything Miranda says or does is deliberate and thought out so it's hard to guess what she finds embarrassing about herself. If anything it would be her difficulties making and maintaining personal relationships; she knows she is cold and demanding but doesn't believe that is something she needs to change. Miranda is definitely her own person and she is capable of being down right haughty. The same impossible standards she holds everyone to she places on her own shoulders and while sometimes crippling on her self-esteem keeps her moving forward and towards someone she can easily say she is proud to be.

Ok so I haven't played a while but has Edgeworth overcome his phobias with earthquakes or do those still happen?

Honestly, Edgeworth's feeling fairly good about life right now. This system here, in Heropa, is a hell of a lot less dysfunctional than what he has back home: here, trials can stretch to multiple days, and the burden of proof is shifted to the prosecution, and corruption seems lessened. In canon, he spends years traveling and exploring other systems, so this ain't a new rodeo to him - indeed, it would be difficult for him to truly have his worldview altered by anything he sees, given how extensively he's traveled and studied. Still, seeing what's going on here is - if not altering his perspective - at least lightening his heart a little bit.

Now, if Lucifer gets leniency, that might well change...but we'll see what comes of that.

Miranda! Obviously showing up on 2014 earth is a huge change for her. How is she dealing with the setting change, when it comes to her motivation and purpose? What parts will she never let anyone see? And does she have any initial goals?

They still happen! Pretty intensely still. There's a lot that Edgeworth has overcome, phobia-wise: he's gotten his nightmares under control, and he's deeply uncomfortable around guns and won't lay hands on one but they don't make him freeze...Earthquakes, though, are and always will be a trigger for his PTSD; they're uncommon enough that he hasn't really had any sort of exposure therapy, and so they still maintain their nasty power.

So, yeah, fainting still happens. Even after years of therapy. So undignified.
