i needed a partner
he was never going to be reactivated in his former state
seemed like it could work out for both of us

i liked the idea of giving him free will
dunno if idve been so presumptuous if i'd already known a lot of what i've learned
i think it worked out for both of us but still hubristic as hell

I did not get the indication he's unhappy with his new self, though I haven't spoken to him very long.

no - not a different way to act
same for all - he's honest
guess it feels polite and helpful when he likes/agrees with you
can feel less so when he doesnt

as i said - i like it
when im wrong i need to know
others often want a bit less honesty

Oh I see, humans do tend to desire tact more than someone being plain sometimes. I'm not always good at distinguishing which one is wanted all the time either.

call it an organic/mechanical divide except a significant portion of organic beings incl humans have same difficulty
and protocol droids are tact personified
