1. Post a comment with your character spilling their confessions and innermost thoughts for all to see 2. Go around and comment to other characters ICly, expressing shock, awe, disgust, anger, etc. 3. Discuss, accuse, commiserate, threadjack, etc.
It's a last-resort option, cool it. Christ, you'd think I was running around with an Uzi the way you're acting.
If it's someone innocent or someone else, either I get killed or I take the guy with the gun down, got it? I don't give a damn what happens to me afterwards. I've been beaten to a pulp before, had people try to stab me while I was unarmed, I've fought drug dealers and murderers and rapists and managed to lead the cops to a major drug bust after being up forty-six hours, choked unconscious and being raped. You don't scare me. The worst you can throw at me isn't gonna outdo that shining clusterfuck of a couple of days.
What happened to you isn't fair, but I'm not looking for excuses to justify hypothetical situations. If I said the man you killed had a family it would only be a way to support my narrative-- the same as what you're doing.
You always have a choice. If you plan on throwing yourself into situations like that because you see a world where more needs to be done, then you owe it to everybody to do better.
I owe it to everybody to keep them alive, to keep them safe, to keep them from ever going through what I went through. Nine times out of ten that'll mean putting myself in front of the gun for 'em. But sooner or later someone comes along that can only be stopped by going to the grave. How many people are you gonna let someone kill, maim, torture, rape, just 'cause they've got a family and loved ones? How many victims does it take before you decide maybe, just maybe, it ain't worth it to keep somebody alive just so you can sleep better at night?
Better question, why do you sleep better at night knowing someone's out there killing people and destroying lives than you do knowing you did a terrible but necessary thing?
Then all you've done is perpetuate a world that created you and me. And when you die serving a cause for nothing, in the end the world moves on and remains the same.
So you really think it'd be better to just let a guy keep on killing than to ever kill him? No matter how many innocent lives that costs, in your head, stopping him - assuming you've gone through all the other possible ways of doing so, and this is the only way - is unacceptable simply because it would get blood on your hands? Again, how many people does he have to kill before you decide 'that's enough piles of bodies, someone oughta go do something about that'?
If all you can do is avoid the question then I'll assume that yes, you'd watch the world burn before killing even the most deserving guy imaginable. And that says a lot about you.
