TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!
Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!
And remember to have fun!01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.
02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.
03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!
04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

[Seriously, Gabriel's thrilled. Castiel is around somewhere, but he's human now, graceless, and a bastard for making Gabriel pay for pancakes every time they need to talk. Balthazar, on the other hand, went back in time and saved the Titanic just to prevent a terrible song being made. That is dedication to the human race right there.]
Few months. Give or take, I haven't been counting. You look like you've been here all of five minutes. Did you stick around for the "welcome party" ?

[Oh he's certainly dedicated. How could he not be to a species that has spent so much time and dedication to the production and improvement of alcoholic beverages. Not to mention all the sex.

[Gabriel shrugs, unaware that Castiel had been the one to knife Balthazar in the end. That was after his tenure on earth as the trickster.]
Oh you got the blonde? Mine was the brunette, she was pretty harsh. Worst party ever, you didn't miss much. Apparently they say everyone dragged here is given powers, made into superheroes and work for the Government in fighting Big Baddies.
Except in our case we got shit removed and if they think they can get my celestial butt signed up with the government? Bad move for them. They have enough problems keeping me in the country as it is.

Right, right. Heroes. Wonderful. And they just let whoever turns up take the plate?
[he laughs again. The thought of that alone... That was a terrible idea. Horrible.
And then he frowns.]

[He knows he can still fly as all angels can, and he still feels strong, but the thought of being without his grace is... unsettling.]
So in other words, someone wants us to play along with their cute little game...

[Gabriel's not gotten it too hard when it comes to missing powers. His skillset is more around manipulating people's realities, but no time loops, no resurrections, and definitely no healing. A bit crap, but he's getting his head around it. When Gabriel breaks a little toe in the morning when he whacks it off the door? The archangel just has to suffer through it and hope the Rit Zien don't show up to take care of him.]
Consequences are they turn powers off completely. No powers, no angel mojo, nada. You don't gotta register with them, but if I leave the country one more time without telling them, they'll be pressing some switches somewhere. Something about international relations or some crap.
