YO I HEARD YOU LIKE TL;CR

STEP ONE: Post with your character!
STEP TWO: Respond to other people's characters with your characters. They will then tell you, in detail, what their character thinks of yours -- and as per the meme's title, tl;dr is encouraged, but not necessary! Don't be afraid to ask others for their characters' first impressions of yours as well.
STEP THREE: Write out tl;dr for whoever comments to you in return.
STEP FOUR: Chat with each other in mutual joy/horror/disgust/delight/confusion at where your CR has gone!
BONUS: Use this for writing up CR charts, or if you already have them written, link to them!
Matthew Lynch | The Raven Cycle

Okay seriously though. Matthew has a good feeling about Mr. Gray! His instincts are... very keen... erm. He can't imagine that anyone Ronan hangs out with could be bad news (Joseph Kavinsky is an outlier and should not be counted), so that right there is enough to make him feel unquestioningly trusting. His mind was completely blown by the discovery that Dorian Gray is a character in a book, so he associates Mr. Gray with neat-o/bizarre surprises, which is cool too!
He will totally do his best to read through Mr. Gray's reading list because Matthew is a people-pleaser and he would like to make Mr. Gray happy, in the same way one would want to please a teacher. Not a dad yet, you gotta work hard to earn that. And not a grandpa because Matthew has no idea what having a grandpa is like...

For real though, Matthew loves Ronan deeply, unconditionally, and to a fault, nnnot that he can do anything about that last one. Of course, Matthew loves a lot of things, all of which Ronan gave to him by bringing him to life. You can't downplay that kind of thing. Even when he was at his most confused about himself and what it really means to be what he is, Matthew never came close to wishing that Ronan hadn't dreamed him.
Of course the way Ronan reacted when he found out Matthew is his dream was... transformative. He had worried for a while that maybe he wasn't "enough" of a person but hearing that Ronan wanted him very much, and loves him, and is proud of him, not only made Matthew feel like he is enough but that maybe he can even be more (which is a thing he's been trying out since his last time in game, though nearly all his efforts from then were reset to zero when he came back the second time.) Knowing what he is and feeling like he's on the same page as Ronan about it definitely puts Matthew at ease, brings him a great deal of happiness, and helps him believe that growing is an option for him. He feels closer to Ronan than he's ever been before, and it makes him feel like maybe he is more himself than he's ever been before.
He very much wants to hang on to that closeness for both of those reasons, so it kinda sucks he knows at some point he's going to pop back home where his entire family is hiding his own identity from him for some reason he doesn't understand and Ronan decided in one day to ship him off to D.C. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Still, even if it will only count here, he wants to learn how to support Ronan in a real way, whatever that should look like, and to see him be wildly happy as often as possible.

He'd like to get to know Eddie better, maybe hang out and show him some of the stuff Matthew's picked up during his own time here. He's still much a kid himself in a lot of ways, so he would not be ready to fully older-brother Eddie (also Eddie is smarter than he is, sob), but if Matthew can help him cheer up a little, that'd be a cool thing!

And then, you know.
Now, Noah represents a very grown up life lesson for him: it doesn't always matter how much you love someone or how hard you are willing to try, sometimes things don't work out. Sometimes all you can do is try to get used to that, while holding your feelings very carefully so they don't tip over and spill out in the wrong place. This is absolutely not a lesson Matthew Lynch ever wanted to learn, or was prepared to learn, but given a choice he would not trade away the time they spent as boyfriends to avoid it because those are some of his most precious and meaningful memories.
He can't really imagine himself ever dating anyone else, not only because his heart is still very, very full of love for Noah but also because in hindsight he think maybe their ever being together at all was an actual God-ordained miracle. (Matthew believes in those.) He's never been interested in anyone else and as far as he can tell Noah is the first and only person who ever saw him as more than what Ronan dreamed him to be: a little brother to be looked after. And then Noah promptly dumped him for not being grown up, womp womp.
The foundation of their relationship is still there: Matthew still wants very much to be a part of Noah's after-life, to have fun with him, to be there for him, to listen to his funny ideas and make this boy--who once told Matthew that he is sad all the time--smile and laugh as much as possible until Noah has to move on. But he's still coming to terms with the fact that for Noah, Matthew was one brief chapter, and for Matthew, Noah is the whole story and that story does not have a "they lived happily ever after" ending.
